[Bug 658696] Re: translation mistake - de - ALL = Alles

2010-10-13 Thread Jochen Skulj
Software Center started with LANG=de_DE.utf8 looks exactly like in the
attached screenshot. So I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same
thing.

But again: I don't see any translation bug here. The developers decided
to include a numeric value in the string and we have to translate it
with a string. If we would omit the numeric value (%s) in the
translation this would cause an error in generating the .mo-files, which
are needed to run an translated application.

And from ny point of view it is a good thing to include a numeric value
in this string since it contains more information than without the
concrete number.

2010-10-13 Thread Jochen Skulj
Thanks for this bug report, but I think it's not a bug. The original
string is:

All %s

Therefore we have to include the numeric value in the translation as
well. Maybe there is a better translation (»alle %s Elemente«?), but we
can't just use »Alles« in this case.

As far as I can see, Gwibber is completely translated to German on

But I admit, there are still some strings in the application like

translated. Does anyone know how to fix this?

correctly and te bug repoort says that this problem also occurs in an

[Bug 325405] Re: wrong german sentense in balloon tip while hoovering over desk miniatures

2009-02-07 Thread Jochen Skulj
After taking a closer look on this I don't think it's a bug. The
Workspace Switcher enables you to drag a application from one workspace

application within the Workspace Switcher a tooltip "Click to start
dragging ..." appears. "Klicken Sie, um >>XY<< zu ziehen" is a correct
translation of this. Therefore I marked this bug report as invalid.

[Bug 302095] Re: German pidgin translation inconsistent (spelling)

2008-11-26 Thread Jochen Skulj
Now I understand: »Buddys« is the correct upstream translation. Sorry, I
didn't know that since we usually try to avoid anglicisms. I updated
these strings in Launchpad to the upstream translations:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/+source/pidgin/+pots/pidgin/de/+translate?batch=10&show=all&search=Buddys

You are right in saying that »Buddies« is normally translated as
»Kumpel«. However in the context of instant messengers »Kontakte«
reflects the meaning of »Buddies« quite well, is comprehensible for
everyone and sounds just more serious. Besiides my Ubuntu contributions
I am also involved in the German GNOME translation teams and we had some
discussions about that. Finally we decide to use »Kontakte« in all GNOME
applications an especially in empathy.

But maybe we just follow diifferent guidelines. Anyway, I hope I were
able to fix this according to your expectations. This changw will
propably included in the next but one language package update since the
next update was built a week ago and is already released to intrepid-

[Bug 302095] Re: German pidgin translation inconsistent (spelling)

2008-11-26 Thread Jochen Skulj
Thank you for this bug report.

I uploaded a new upstream translation to Launchpad some weeks ago. This
change hasn't been included in an language pack yet but I think the
»Passwort« problem should now be fixed in Launchpad.

Are you really sure that the »Buddys« does not affect the upstream
translation? When I take a look at this

http://developer.pidgin.im/l10n/de.po

I find »Buddys« in that po-file. Maybe this is not the newest upstream
translation. If you can tell me where to find the newest upstream
translation I would import the newer one to Launchpad.

BTW, the proper German translation of »Buddies« would be something like
»Kontakte«.

You may correct and update the translations and open a ticket here:

For more information please read:

You may also add a link to the ticket you open in the pidgin bug tracker
so that we all can follow the further development in the Pidgin Upstream

the pidgin developers we could upload this translation to rosetta.

access to update the po-files within your source repository (whereever
this is located. I don't have a clue about this at the moment).

[Bug 252504] Re: Unwanted and wanted buttons, translation swapped

2008-07-28 Thread Jochen Skulj
Sorry, but I can't confirm this. From my point of view the translation
is correct:

#: ../ui/evolution-mail-message.xml.h:52
msgid "Mark the selected messages as junk"
msgstr "Die gewählten Nachrichten als unerwünscht markieren"

#: ../ui/evolution-mail-message.xml.h:53
msgid "Mark the selected messages as not being junk"
msgstr "Die gewählten Nachrichten als nicht unerwünscht markieren"

"junk" is translated as "unerwünscht" and "not being junk" is translated
as "nicht unerwünscht". The toolbar buttons are labelled like in the
English version. Would you please start evolution in an English
environment and check if you can notice any differences in the tooltips
of those buttons? Example:

~$ export LANG=en_US.UTF-8
~$ evolution

If there are any differences it may be helpful if you can provide some
screenshots. Thank You!

[Bug 252493] Re: Translation error, german, ldap config dialogue

2008-07-28 Thread Jochen Skulj
Thank you for this bug report. Since evolution is translated by the
GNOME Upstream i'll forward your suggestion to the GNOME Upstream
Translation Team an reimport tha translation to Ubuntu as soon as this
issue is fixed.

[Bug 239629] Re: German Translation Issues in Hardy Rhythmbox

2008-06-16 Thread Jochen Skulj
Maybe nobody has filed in bug against it in bugzilla.gnome.org, but the
upstream translation of Rhythmbox is definitely incomplete. If you take
a look at

http://l10n.gnome.org/POT/rhythmbox.HEAD/rhythmbox.HEAD.de.po

and search for "Pre_vious" you can see that it's marked as fuzzy and
therefore untranslated. That's exactly the string displayed in the
system tray. I am just working on updating the upstream translation (I
also contribute to the GNOME German Translator Team).

[Bug 239629] Re: German Translation Issues in Hardy Rhythmbox

2008-06-12 Thread Jochen Skulj
I also discovered this problem a couple of weeks ago and found out that
the upstream translation is incomplete. I suggest to fix this bug in the
upstream translation than just updating the translation in Rosetta.

[Bug 204580] [NEW] [Hardy] Incorrect German translation in Evince

2008-03-21 Thread Jochen Skulj
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: language-pack-de

In the menu of Evince the word »presentation« as »Presentation«. This is
inaccurate since the German translation for »presentation« is
»Präsentation«. Please use the German GNOME upstream translation which
does not contain such bugs.
