A common method around here is to use 3/4" or 1" PVC pipe across the boom, pulled down to the toerail with lines to create a curved surface for a tarp or canvas to lay over. The nicer ones will have channels sewn into the fabric to insert the tubing. Very light, cheap, and reasonable easy to setup,

Once you install the vang on the boom with the weight of the flaked sail on it, you may find the supplied spring in the vang is either to weak, or too strong. Just call Garhauer and they will swap out the spring for whatever you need. The spring that comes with it is fine for most installations

I don't have a lot of time right now but the "topping lift" attaches to the aft end of the boom to keep it up. If you hace a boom vang you may or may not need/want a topping lift. The guide ropes are calles "lazy jacks" and they are not designed to support the boom. When I have time I'll write m

I don't like tieing the reef line at the reef point. It pulls the sail to that side and places a lot of stress on the grommet. I'd use either a reef hoof or a dog-bone so you are pulling down, not sideways. Also, if you attach the line to the boom you are getting a 2:1 purchase. Joel 35/3 Annap
