glitches come from missing (old) Modutils.
RPM -q shows : Modutils-2.1.121-16mdk installed. KPackage doesn't show it at

Rebuilding GConf, I found that build fails if OAF not installed (./configure
reports that OAF is needed).
Installing OAF before compiling GConf fixed problem.
Pls add Build dependency in GConf SRPM.

7.2, by default it installs Russian as KOI8-R, and I have found no way
to change it.
The preferable way for me is Unicode/UTF8 and support for Russian.

Also check what encoding you have in Control Center.
If you switched to Unicode (iso10646-1) - it can be a problem in your case as

Yes, it's still good to have it as a backup solution.
But KDE3 (latest beta/CVS) should be included into LM 8.2. That's my opinion
