used to rip it (Windows Media Player) left the Artist tag empty
(usually it doesn't), but it did put the artist name in the Album

I'd say you'll have to start MIP _before_ slimserver if you want to use it
from the Squeezebox's interface.

Have a look at http://www.musicip.com/mixer/commandline.jsp
Basically, you can solve your problem by adding -slim to the MIP commnd
line. Also make sure slimserver is running prior to executing MIP.
Have to agree wholeheartedly re MIP though - apart from the acoustic
analysis engine the program
I think your system is XP - what are the specs of the system: memory,
CPU and speed ?
A good way to see what is using up CPU ( or disk or memory) is to use
ProcessExplorer (

My previous setup was a HTPC running iTunes & Apple Lossless files. I
used an RME HDSP9632 Hammerfall soundcard analogue out into a Rotel

Wake on Lan works with the Transporter under following circumstances:
When you turn off your computer the Transporter has to be on. Later you
can (or i can ;-) press the knob and the computer will wake up.
But when i turn off the computer while the Transporter isn't on -
nothing

installed fine but it refuses to "see" localhost (or 127.0.0.1 or the

The updated socketwrapper (1.9b) didn't go into 6.5.3 as QA couldn't
reproduce the problem and there was no feedback. So if you do upgrade
to 6.5.3 you'll need to replace the socketwrapper.exe again.
However, another bug was found in socketwrapper so I think the updated
socketwrapper will be in 6

I'm running into exactly the same issue
With the latest versions of the gadget and google desktop installed,
everything works except no artist is displayed. Track and album info
are OK. Could it be because my files are WMA, rather than MP3, or
whatever?

I tried this afternoon.
Switched the SB3 off at the mains.
After the logos, pressed right arrow to interrupt the automatic connect
to SlimServer.
In the Current Settings bit pressed the right arrow on Firmare and
there it was. :)

I am having trouble installing shortcuts in my music folder.
I have 4 external USB drives filled with wav and FLAC files, but I
cannot seem to link to them in my music folder.
When I install a shortcut to my music folder the music folder nevers
sees the shortcut.

I am looking to buy a SB3 for mostly Internet Radio use. However in
other forums eg the "Reciva Internet radio site" I have noticed people
complaining about the use of a shockwave flash based audio player that
a lot of US stations are now using. This is causing a lot of stations

I emailed the MusicPal folks they don't support, and have no plans

can't remember the specs on my CPU but it's an Athalon 6400 which I
beleive was one of their higher performance chips 2 years ago (just
before dual core processors were introduced). I also have 1 gig of RAM.

The changelog is installed with the server. But there have been _huge_
changes betwen 6.3.x and 6.5.x. Please give us some more information about
your system: OS version, AV products, eventlog entries etc.
