openings in the chassis from the old caps are convenient for
wiring.
Note that there is a fair amount of ripple on the HV
line especially under load. I also found the voltages given
in the Heathkit instructions were optimistic
ten ground connections are made through
them and they become slightly corroded in the same way as
the contacts on switches do. Working them will clean the
connection and often get rid of pernicious problems.

I've seen a lot of other stuff with plastic gears that
were lubricated at the factory. I think that neither Nylon
or Delrin is a particularly low friction material. Brass
gears do not need lubrication but nearly all other materials
do.

Collins recommends an aircraft grease for use on the
metal gears in some of its equipment. I got the right grease
as Aeroshell Grease No.7 Other greases should be cleaned
off before applying it as it reacts with some to form a hard
substance. In fact, a co
ohms and a high impedance mice
several hundred to a few thousand ohms.
While it may be a special of some sort it probably
isn't.

which was a slide switch with
snap-and-remain-in-position, not spring loaded for easy
return. However, the
LOAD shaft spring is strong enough to return the switch.
