Mike,
The K3 is virtually desense-proof, with a BDR of ~140 dB. But to take
advantage of this, you need a narrow crystal filter -- the closer to
the DSP bandwidth the better. This is exactly the situation that we had
in mind when we
went quiet and took about 1/4 to 1/2 second
to recover after he stopped sending.

I thought it was interesting that recovery was noticeably slow on the DX
station's frequency when this was happening. However, under normal

did experiment and I still had the same problem with NR off.

Is my summary of the issue correct?
If both signals are within both the DSP and roofing filter bandwidths, then
the receiver recovers instantly after each
normal. I was just wondering what
operational trick is available to compensate.

. Or
possibly have it as a CONFIG option.
(I must agree, however, that the K3 adjustment is vastly improved over my
FT1000D which had a skinny knob that was extremely touchy).

I was wondering why the NR feature is unavailable in data modes. During the
WPX using AFSK A on 80 meters it seems like it would have been beneficial to
have some noise reduction. (I use MixW).

I'm sure this is obvious to most but not to me. I am blaming it on
separation
anxiety since my K3 only recent returned from Aptos.
I have the KRX3 installed and work split using the Sub Rx. I lock vfo B
or keyboard. Toggle again to go back to diversity in your right ear.

Also you can't use diversity reception while doing this. You have to
be unlinked.
You can use Split in Diversity, but you must use the REV button to tune
for recording purposes you can also
use them for special features. Instructions are in the manual.

On my K3 I often change the AGC -- S setting. I like 5 for general
listening, but 20 when I'm net control so I don't miss the weak
check-ins. Each time I go through the menu
to have a menu
choice.

Hi,
I've been absolutely thrilled with my K3 since the day it arrived. Before
the K3 I had an Orion II. The firmware updates just never materialised -
what a difference on the K3. Bravo Elecraft on a very slick
probably tee the connector to both the AUX RF on
the sub RX and RX ANT input on the KXV3.

diversity and split at the same time. I had
tried diversity and split before using the REV button but was not able to
tune VFO B using that method. So maybe this is an undocumented feature.

Thanks Merv:
I stand corrected. I just verified that the Key Out relay is energized when
not transmitting. And therefore it is the same as the Key Out on the
accessory connector. And when the VOX is off the Key Out will follow the
dits and dahs. Learn something new every day.

I have a K9AY receive loop to connect to my K3. The K9AY box needs a RCA
phono plug. I'm afraid I don't recognize what the plug is on the KXV3 aux.
