Thanks for the recommendations and comments. Both the KXPA utility
and the KX3 utility communicate fine with my hardware setup. I'm
guessing the WIn4K3 Suite does not properly communicate with both
devices through one com port. I'll see if I can post on their groups.io

Only one KXUSB is needed. The other is just a TRS to TRS cable.
The KXUSB cable must connect first between the KXPA100 and the PC. The
second cable between the KXPA100 and the KX3.

Here's a question concerning using the KXPA100. Is it best to run the
amp in manual, like the higher powered amps, or run in auto? I always
hit the atu button when changing bands, but sometimes in auto it will
drop power, and the swr is up a bit. I couldn't find any reference to
this, but

I'm running a KX3 with a KXPA100 and just started to have some power issues.
There is a substantial difference between what the watts out on the rig show
and what shows up on the KXPA power out meter. Here's what's showing in watts

There is no quick and easy path to do that. Your easiest solution is
just to let the KPA1500 auto-select the band. It has frequency sensing
and just a brief burst of RF will cause it to change bands.
A more indirect solution is to use a band decoder like the Elecraft KRC2
which will

Yes, set the KXPA100 tuner to bypass - switch on the front.
You will be using cabling as shown in Figure 4 page 11 of the KAT500
Owner's manual. The "output on transceiver that provides closure to
ground on transmit" is the RCA jack on the rectangular box in the cable

Disconnect the amp and computer from the KX3. Switch the KX3 on and off.
Reconnect the amp and switch on the KX3. This worked for me. You might check
the menu key PA Mode to see if it's on.

I want to run my just-born KX3 and it’s 100-watt companion KCPA100 into a high
power linear, my Ameritron ALS-600S. But we have some issues. For instance: the
combo easily produces 600 watts CW. But, on SSB it far too easily trips the
Ameritron load fault, or the KXPA100 high SWR shut down.
I can tell you that I had similar problems when I tried to do this with
the K2 back before the K2's 100-watt KPA100 was available. I tried using
an external 100-watt solid-state amplifier (good quality, made by Henry
Radio) to drive a one-kW linear. Sometimes it worked, but sometimes
there was
KX3 serial 6-thousand something is born. Very impressed. What a tight little
machine. Maiden QSO last evening using the KXPA100 @ 110 watts. This is a very
efficient combo: under 5 watts easily excites the KXPA100 to it’s max. Here’s
my question: the KXPA100 cable takes up the ACC1 and ACC2

Can I use a CAT5 coupler and cat 5 cable to extend the distance between the
two? I'd like to keep the amp where my KPA500 is in the other room while
operating from my laziboy. :)

I am not certain what you are referring to as a CAT5 coupler, so the
answer is maybe.
If the CAT5 coupler is an RS-232 to Ethernet converter, it should
work, but if it simply takes the RS-232 signals and simply connects them
directly to the wires of a CAT5 cable, there will be a limit
A CAT5 coupler is a double female junction that allows two spans of
CAT5 cable to be butted together to form a longer cable. In general,
these don't hold the longer cable within CAT5 specs, but that may not
be important in this application.

The plan as I know it is to have both the amp and tuner in the same
enclosure.
I do not know about the distance, but consider that the plan is to have
the amp and tuner mounted remotely in a vehicle - say with the amp and
tuner in the trunk and the KX3 up front - so my judgement tells
