Hello,
I have been following the cooker development for some time now

was halted for the last half year. When starting the upgrade again in
December from a situation around some time before 9.0 and halfway
through I got stuck.

Hi,
After successful transfer of all partitions to ext3, using tune2fs -j

partition. But its NOT! While having ext2 compiled into the kernel and
ext3 as a module, as with kernel-2.4.18.16, the root partition is
mounted as ext2, not ext3.

I found nothing about this problem in the FAQ, and trying different BIOS

Hello,
After trying to use the Mandrake update tools urpmi, rpmdrake, etc and
finding them more or less unusable (at least to follow cooker), I
tried apt(-rpm) and these tools are. Or should be, as expected from
the apt tools in Debian (used on my other boxes; no probs eg to follow
unstable),
There is also the VideoLan Client (and servers). rpms and debs are available.

I need advice how to get XFree86-4.0.x to work in 3D with my Banshee
graphics card.
Several alternatives are possible!?
1. Stay with Glide_V3 Device3Dfx as with 3.3.x. Does this still work?
2. Download Glide_V3-DRI, tdfx_dri tdfx_drm from linux.3dfx.com and
following instructions there.
3.
Finally took the step to leave 3.3.x for 4.0.x. Some questions:
1. Got HW accelaration almost working (4.1.0, Banshee). Quake3 starts
accelerated, but exits due to errors with 4.0.1, i.e. with MDK 7.2 and
libgL. Should I go for Glide, or GL?
2. Another alternative is to upgrade to cooker X4
tc/rc.d/network/etc/rc.d/rc5.d/SXXnetwork" where 'XX' is some two
digit number. Run 'tksysv' if you like/need to use a graphical tool to fix
this.

Probably this is an FAQ. How to set up a local network with one

What about proxies/routers?
The local network is made up from ethernet 100 Mbps cards and a 5-port

The internet connection is an ISDN modem with 64 kbps access.
