Telnet is not secure. There are programs you can buy that claim to secure telnet. The
easiest answer is ssh.

Since mounting a windows share would be similar to mounting another volume on the
linux box, running scripts to affect the files would not be a problem.
Another solution would be to install cygwin on the windows box and use your scripts
locally.

Tight VNC has its own scaled down x server included. I have never used it without a

I am assuming that if Tight VNC uses its own x server, you could install it without

I am looking at preventing the downloading of executables, etc through the internet
and I am investigating DansGuardian as a possible solution.
Does

Any other comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Does CO*Star have an import function or the ability to create macros. If so, you could
pipe your information into a text file from msdos and import the information in
co*Star using a macro.
Just a thought.

Stay away from Belkin KVM's. I have found they do not work well when you install a
Linux GUI desktop.

Active Directory.
Is there an easier way? I have not tried this before and I am open to suggestions.

Is the built in XP firewall up and running on the NIC connected to the Internet?
If it is, have you tried removing it?

that it does, I am
looking for alternatives.
Our use of SQL server is very basic with 35 users accessing three or four small in
house programs. I believe that these programs could be moved fairly easily.
