No, HDMI needs to have data returned by the end device as well. Unlike old TV connections, HDMI is a 2 way street. So a real monitor and or adapter needs to be attached. There is a monitor adapter that’s active that did the trick but I haven’t used this personally, only a real monitor on this

In terminal, do a "man say" find out all about the say command. You can just type "say bob" and it will speak "bob" with the default voice. The man page has options to have say take input from a text file and output to an audio file. CB On 10/1/15 10:29 AM, Nicolai Svendsen wrote: Hi, You c

That’s easily addressed. All you would need to know is the checksum for the official release and insure that the file you downloaded has the same value. Been done for years and years with unix distributions. > On Oct 1, 2015, at 10:59 AM, 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries > wrote: > > I wou

I wouldn't trust installing my OS from bittorrent. How can you be sure it's not just legit but unmodified? I think Apple is taking the right approach. Sure things bog down once a year for a bit when a new release comes out but I wouldn't re architect the distribution model for that one anomaly

You could also try Crossover which tries to run Windows apps without Windows by mapping all the Windows APIs to Mac APIs. It's built on Wine. I don't know how accessible it is but they have a free trial so you could give it a whirl. https://www.codeweavers.com/products/crossover-mac/ A bit ab

So Apple has a pretty interesting infrastructure. They have their own CDN (content distribution network) as well as several geographically diverse data centers and a ton of private and public peering. Torrents might distribute the load but remember a lot of carriers also block torrents or more

An app called Wineskin is what I used to run an audio game on the Mac. Thing is, that game was self-voicing. I don't think there's a way to use Wine to emulate both your program *and* a screen reader, which is where the problem is. Sighted users can do this because they don't need a screen reade

apple could take a page from bittirrent on this. ftp/http is fine under most circumstances but gets bogged down when too many users (like 35 million of us) try to retrieve data. with torrent, users can start to share the load. this will make transfers faster. -eric On Oct 1, 2015, at 12:47 AM,

Hi, You can already do this with a service that's in OS X, actually. You technically don't need apps for this. As far as I have seen, though, Audiobook Builder only works with audio files to turn them into books. Still, you could use the OS X service in conjunction with the app to merge the fil
