WTW is a fabulous, developmental word study program. The University of Virginia
(Donald Bear, etc) and Louisa Moats are behind it 100 percent. It helps with
reading and writing, since it operates on the child's developmental level.? You
will love it. Kathy Ganke has a few books containing sorts

word study workbooks. We have been using WTW for several years, photocopying

Literacy assessment. (It might be identical, but I haven't taken the time to

girls. The first one I figured out early on that we only needed to quickly
review spelling words once just to ease my mind. The other two - we studied

What I did with my 2nd & 3rd grade students is have a print-rich
environment which gave them many resources to look at words and spell
them correctly. Anything that was visible was basically a "no excuses"
word that needed to be spelled correctly. I did not do a word wall, but
instead had lists
