I had that problem as well. I solved it by creating a small bootable dos
partition and then running /dosutils/autoboot/install.bat. This boots into a
menu where one of the items is DrakX from CD-rom.

I did do that, and thats when it didnt detect anything to begin with, so I
got a list to choose from atfer that, and mine isnt in the list. Its for
the Intel 810, where I thought I could select MPU-401compatible but thats
not in the list either.

It seems very good (installation, configuration tools,
automount, ...) but I've two little troubles:
1) It's very loud. If I start kde+netscape it uses all RAM (160MB)
and every new application is very slow. I checked ktop and I find

I installed Air at work on a machine, no problems. My home (test) machine
is another story. Auto detect finds my video card just fine, but when it
asks for a monitor type and I specify the correct one no dice.

in /etc/inittab; look for entries that are set to respawn. I don't know what

I might have the number wrong. I did see the Macmillan one.
I have never seen Mandrake. It was recommended to me by someone, and he told
me that 7.0 is due out soon.

I'm trying to use KSendFax (Mdk 6.1) as user, and it will only let root fax.
When I try, I get the following message:

For the nic card this is what you do;

"ifup eth0"

I had been running Mandrake 6.0 until a few days ago. I then upgraded to
6.1. (I know... 7.0 is now available. I want to wait and talk to a few
people at Linuxworld first.) :-)
Anyway, my videocard is the Creative Labs 3D Blaster - Savage 4. Now with
XFree86 3.3.5, the SVGA server seems to work
I solved the problem by using a rescue disk to load a minimal linux on my
system, using fdisk to create my partitions, then restarting the install.

Is there a place to input the DHCP server in linuxconf? I know the idea of
it is that you simply send out a DHCP query and recieve a reply, but,
whereas that works in win98se, it doesn't seem to work in mandrake 7.0.
