I setup sharing my internet connection under Mandrake Control Center on
MDK 8. It installed ipchains, iptables, and iproute2? Are all these
programs used for the internet sharing or does it install some of these
for a just in case senerio? What are they all supposed to do?

This problem has been around for a while now. People can't get SiS related
hardware (especially display and sound to work on linux). I have tried and
am working with a framebuffer for my display but got nothing for the sound
yet. www.sis.com do have a "compiled" driver for redhat 7.2 I think. But
tried turning off plug and pray aware OS in the BIOS?

tool doesn't give me any error messages but I still don't get any sound,

I just installed Mandrake 8.0 on my Toshiba335CDT Laptop. However, in
order to get it to work I had to go through an "interactive" boot and
disable the PCMCIA service, then once I got it up and running I had to
chmod the /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia file in so that it isn't executable

I have an Olympus 4040Z. All I do to make it work is:
1) Plug it in (USB) (and turn it on of course)
2) Run modprobe usb-storage
3) mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/cam (set up the mount point ahead of time).
