Wow Herb that gives you an effective focal length of about 1000mm at
f4.5 (ish). What are the results like? I have a Tokina 300mm f2.8 and a
1.7 AF TC (765mm @f4.5) and the results are pretty good. The SMC glass

yes. part of the reason is that it allocates a lot more memory that it knows
it's going to use eventually. you aren't going to load it as just a viewer,
so if it's going to be needed in 30 seconds as soon as you begin making
changes, why wait?

I'm not the one you are asking Sven. However it's well known, that you'll
get a generally brighter viewfinder picture to ease focusing (manual or
automatic). Furthermore it's practical to have contstant aperture thoughout
the whole zoom range when using a non-TTL flash.

I'm trying to decide whether or not a slight crop on the left-hand side
would make it better or worse, but I can't.
So I think I'll just stick to saying that it's a great photo. :-)

post-scan processing, I think this is a terrific shot.
The bit of tilt doesn't bother me at all, as I think that it adds to the
dynamism of the photo.
