I've recently installed RedHat 8.0, and I've yet to be able to compile a
new kernel (generic kernel straight from kernel.org). This kernel compiled
just fine under RedHat 7.3 with the same config (which I can post if
necessary). The error occurs during the 'make modules' bit, and I am thus

You'll need to downgrade all the glibc related rpms (glibc, glibc-common,
glibc-devel, etc...) at the same time.

Hi there,
I am running Redhat 8 with KDE version 3.0.3-13 (system default). Becoz of lockscreen
and
screensaver bug (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=74785), I need to
get a
upgrade of KDE in order to solve the bug.
So I downloaded the following files from a mirror redhat 8
Hello, seems to me like with your chmod 0600 you
are trying to make this file non executable, which is not a good idea. According
to the existing rights on this file you have the permission to edit it
as root. What is happening when you try to edit it with vi?

would want to install to the root partition. Boot with your floppy and

Hi there,
Read some posts on Google, known bug of KDE with root (or anyone) cannot launch
predefined

If the constraint is must use "root", is there a workout or quickfix on this matter?

Hi ,
Thanks a lot for the reply,Ichecked google even before i made a post. I've

Grip works well. You can configure it to use any program for the
encoding. That includes the ogg-vorbis tools. One of the nice things
about grip is that you can set it to start ripping as soon as you put in
a cd and have it eject the cd when you're done.
It doesn't get much easier than that.
