Check in /etc/xinetd.d/. You should have a file for pop3 and for pop3s. If

Well squid is used for web proxying not pop3 or smtp. Sound like you
have two problems.
One is that your SMTP server (sendmail, qmail, postfix) isn't working
and then pop3 isn't working. What errors are you getting? Can you telnet
to ports 25 and 110? Can you retrieve mail manually o

Download with fetchmail and filter with procmail. You can have fetchmail

What sort of mail config are you going from/to that requires you to chan
migrate your users, but its hard to say without knowing what exactly

So far I have worked out I can run the following to get a dump of the POP3
traffic to look for the PASS commands:
tcpdump -n -x -s 1514 tcp port 1
I would go with the Courier-MTA package. It is all-in-one and has almost all
the features mentioned below.

the UW-IMAP I've been using for years (RedHat default inst
one with an MX record. Your ISP's SMTP server should relay for you fine
