(http://www.centered.com/). I use it and, once set, it only takes one
click for a manual backup and none for scheduled ones.

alter the paths and use it.
It does take time also to learn how to use Second Copy.

AFAIK, there's no limit to the size of the backup.

How many messages do you have in your TheBat!-mailaccounts? I have
reached 26 mails in one account (yes, a quarter million) and
though I can back it up, I can't restore it on my notebook, I always
get error reading file C:\path\to\backup.tbk

I'm still not convinced the account is in perfect order, so a create
from scratch would be ideal. I've just done a full backup of the
account as it stands tonight.
Can someone either point me to the right spot in the archives or suggest
the best sequence of steps?

One of the weakest place of IMAP approach from my viewpoint is
probability to lose remote message base. In fact we have no direct access to
files of some host with IMAP server.
