This is a bug introduced in IOS 8. If audio ducking is turned off, you get the
issue you describe with AirPlay. For now, just turn audio ducking back on and
it will work as expected. I’ve already reported this to Apple but the more the

Using this method, you still hear the notification sound when one comes in
but no speech. Not sure if this works for you but just another suggestion.
