problems any more. Downloads can be pretty fast but uploads are slow
which is bad if you Skype videoconference.

I have a Telstra/foxtel cable modem and a Linksys Etherfast Cable DSL
Router . Matt set this up for me and it worked reasonably well,but
dropped out quite frequently for reasons unknown. The only way I could
get back on line was to do a reset on both 'Boxes'

could be just ancient history. I really couldn't have found it more

We're running a VoIP business for residential customers and have come across
Bigpond cable a number of times and the trouble customers have plugging our
phone adapter in. What we have found is that Bigpond cable only supports a
single device - either the Ethernet port or USB
It sound like the best option if I have to keep with bigpond is to go
the standard cable modem and then use airport to link my PC ( wireless
already) and imac G3 ( if needed), I'm quite happy at this stage to
leave the PS2 off the network.

If you call Mike at AppleCentre Joondalup (Phone: 9301 5333) they had
a USB Extender cable (which pulled more power through from the
computer). It would run off a 5 metre USB cable and was 5metre in
length I belive, which therefor would give you a total length of
10meters.

It seems that Apple finally released the vital Thunderbolt-to-Firewire cable,
originally promised for July. It's currently availble from Apple's online
store, but hopefully it won't be too long before it makes its way onto physical
