I previously setup the HRD rig control to connect to Flex using PowerSDR and the correct port. It connects just fine and works as it should. It can then connect to logbook and DM780 and they work as they should. So with PowerSDR and DDUtil running I should just fire up logbook and DM780. Logbook connects but the radio pane says it's SmartSDR, not PowerSDR. A warning popup comes on and say "Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DDUtil_V3.Setup.GetDropdownTextSstring s)". Logbook still follows the radio but the popup won't go away unless the program is closed. I can open DM780 but it also connects as SmartSDR instead. It pops up a fault as soon as you try to transmit. "Transmit Failed The 9:SMART SDR configuration does not have a TX button displayed. Press OK to configure the Radio pane layout." When I select OK I see the interface and it does have a TX button...just won't work. I've tried uninstall, reinstall several times. System reboot several times. Verifed that HRD all works correctly stand alone without DDUtil. I'm pretty much convinced that it has something to do with starting up the server and the logbook and DM780 identifying as the wrong software. I tried changing HRD to SmartSDR and connecting. It kinda works but TX hangs and the rig won't unkey. Obviously not compatible command structure. Any idea? I hate running HRD rig control as it's redundant...only need the server. [Flexradio] FlexRadio web server maintenance scheduled for 3:30 GMT 13-Mar-2016
This is an announcement that we will be performing web server (www.flexrdio.com) maintenance this weekend starting at 3:30 GMT on 13-March-2016. During this maintenance window, the web server will be off-line as we migrate to higher grade service plan. Once the web site is back on-line later in the day, I will make an announcement on the Community (https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio). This activity is being undertaken proactively in order to provide a better user experience when downloading new SmartSDR and Maestro releases. The server and bandwidth upgrades should help alleviate congestion issues n experienced previously when new versions of SmartSDR are released and available for download. In advance, we apologize for any inconvenience this maintenance activity may cause. -- Tim Ellison, W4TME Customer Experience Manager FlexRadio Systems™ 4616 W Howard Ln, Suite 1-150 Austin, TX 78728 Phone: 512-535-4713 Ext. 223 Web: www.flexradio.com <http://www.flexradio.com> ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz To opt out of the Reflector: http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz

Just to be very clear, running a FLEX-3000 at the 192 ksps sampling rate using the forked version of the PowerSDR software is not supportedby FlexRadio Systems. Use at your own risk. I run my Flex 3000 at 192KB, and for the most part it works fine. The other part of this is the Firewire cable, the Firewire port, and the computer. I have heard that even with the Flex 5000, there are some situations where 192 is problematic, and 96 is more stable. I don't understand all the hurtles for a Firewire port to work, but perhaps look at the CPU utilization. If your CPU is running over 20% at 96 Kb sample rate, then perhaps it's best to just leave that setting alone. With my AMD FX-8350 4G 8 Core processor, power SDR runs at 2-4% CPU load. In fairness to Flex though, those that "brick" a Flex using 3rd party software should not try to get free technical support from Flex to resolve the issue. Upon receipt, inspection and approval of your trade, FlexRadio will subtract the trade value for your radio from the selling price of the new radio to be purchased. This promotion can not be combined with any other sales discounts or promotions. Further, for those of you are looking for a pre-owned model this may be your chance. As many Flex owners Trade-Up!, we will have certified used models available for sale from time to time. Contact sales for availability or to get on the waiting list if none are immediately available. Re: [Flexradio] Noise cancellation Flex 6000 series
The Anan (more correctly, the PowerSDR OpenHPSDR) is using the same null forming algorithm that we developed for the FLEX-5000 with the RX2. So we are very familiar with this feature and how it works. If you have aFLEX-5000 + RX2 with the latest version ofPowerSDR, you can do the same thing today. Re: [Flexradio] PowerSDR and Falling prices
Correct. The firmware which gets updated with almost every new version of PowerSDR is closed source. We are compelled to keep the source closed by FCC regulation as this is where the transmit frequency restriction logic is stored. Based on the architecture of the radios, there is very little processing that is or can be performed in the radios by the internal CPU other than hardware command and control. If you wanted to innovate or improve PowerSDR, you would be doing it in the DSP (DttSP) or in the console C# portions of the code, both of which are fully open. Anyone can augment TNF functionality with our hardware products using the tnf.dll. How the TNF filter is applied is all done in the available console C# code. As the band is changed on the radio, it should change the band selection on the filter. Jack, Community is not a mail based system; it is a web based application designed for customer engagement, so the capabilities you refer to are not inherent in the capabilities of the community; a web browser is required. I use my tablet to view the Community as a web page while traveling on business. I agree it is a little tedious to use an small screen device like a smart phone, but I don't think an app would solve the screen real estate issue either. I searched for a way to set up a forwarder so that messages would be sent automatically to my regular mailbox, where I know how to do all of those things plus more. Couldn't find any way to do it. When you post a reply or start a topic, you are automatically subscribed and will receive e-mail notifications when there is new activity on your post. There's no SentMail folder to capture all the messages I have sent, and no way to carbon-copy my mailbox as I send something. See my comments above on following conversations. It sounds like the replies may have ended up in your junk e-mail folder. It also seems that the Flex Community materials are somehow hidden from search engines. If I Google flexradio.biz haverty, I get a list of postings I've made on this list. Re: [Flexradio] Using SDR Data Transfer Between Computers
Yes. As long as the radio models and PowerSDR software versions are the same, you can transfer the database from one PC to another. The easiest way to do this is the start PowerSDR with the radio connected to the Win7 PC. Open the Setup form and do a database export. Copy the resulting database file to the Win8 PC (the desktop is a convenient place). Shut down the 5000, connect it to the Win8 PC, power it up and start PowerSDR. Open the Setup form and do a database import. PowerSDR will restart and you will be running using the Win7 database. In the future, I highly recommend that you open a HelpDesk support ticket if you require support from FlexRadio systems. It is the fastest and easiest way to get answers to your technical questions. [Flexradio] Be prepared for 2nd hand radios for sale
This is just a proactive friendly reminder. One of the allowed practices on the FlexRadio reflector isthe ability for Flex owners to post their FlexRadio products for sale and for perspective Flex owners the ability to solicit list members looking for second hand FlexRadio Systems products (wanted to buy or WTB posts). With the recent announcement of the FLEX-6300 Signature Series SDR, we have learned that there may be an increase in these kinds of reflector postsin the coming weeks. For your reference, here is the exact excerpt for the reflector guidelines that is applicable to this subject Commercial postings are allowed only if they relate to FlexRadio products, SDR, home brewing related to SDR, building etc. and are of interest to this list's membership. Please keep them as short as possible and provide web links to more detailed information. The reflector moderators will step in if we feel someone is posting too many messages of this type. Promoting freeware products that enhance the FlexRadio experience is encouraged. Because this is an allowed practice on the reflector, receiving these types of posts via the reflector is not SPAM and should not be treated as such. Spam is unsolicited e-mail. By joining the reflector via a double opt-in process and accepting the reflector guidelines, no post received from the reflector is actually unsolicited and therefore is technically not SPAM. Please do not reportreflector posts of this nature as SPAM, as that may jeopardize our ability to maintain this reflector. Also as noted in the guidelines listed above, the reflector admins do monitor this reflector and will intervene if WTB and For sale posts get excessive or start showing up for products that are not allowed by the reflector guidelines. As per the CAN-SPAM Act, FlexRadio ensures compliance by providing a link at the bottom of each reflector e-mail for you to voluntarily opt out of the FlexRadio reflector by canceling your reflector membership if you no longer want to receive reflector posts. All you have to do is access the reflector membership page and enter the e-mail address you are subscribed to in the blank at the bottom of the page to access your account settings. Once logged in, you can unsubscribe to the reflectoror choose to temporarily stop receiving reflector posts. Thanks for allowing me the bandwidth to share this QST. One item. In step #1 do not copy, but EXPORT using the Setup form. This will allow you to put it on a thumb drive for the new PC. All your other assumptions are correct. If you run into any issues bringing up the radio after installing 2.7.2, just open a support ticket with the HelpDesk. Copy my existing PowerSDR database to a thumb drive. 2.. Change out the hard drive and install and setup Windows 7. 3.. Run the 2.7.2 integrated installer. 4.. Reboot 5.. Connect the Flex 3000 to the computer and then turn it on. 6.. Start PowerSDR. 7.. Import the original database from the thumb drive (I am assuming I can do this since it is from the same version of PowerSDR.) 8.. I am also assuming that the software will detect that the firmware in the radio had been previously upgraded when 2.7.2 was installed on the XP machine. One of my concerns is that I don't want to mess up the firmware in the radio. Also if needed, would I be able to switch out the hard drives and go back to the XP installation and still use the Flex 3000? Thanks in advance for looking at this and for any comments/suggestions. Re: [Flexradio] Possibly wrong region bandplan in FW after upgrade.
Actually, the TURF region of your radio, which is in the firmware does determine your BandText data. If you have had your radio TURFed for a different region, then you will have region specific BandText data and Band Edge data. The later is determined by your IARU region. Ray is right that the info displayed under the VFO is display only and has not effect on the transmit limits of your radio. If you modified your BandText data in a previous version of PowerSDR, the procedure described below will allow you to transfer it to a different version of PowerSDR successfully. Select your v2.6.4 database as the source database. 3. Select your v2.7.2 database as the destination database. 4. Select Transfer by Table. 5. Re: [Flexradio] PSDR v2.7.2 Instability (TM)
I agree. I can attest that in 99.99% of the issues I have resolved with symptoms like yours, the PowerSDR software installation was not the root cause. A reset to factory defaults and using the newly created database for a while before importing or transferring data from a previous version of PowerSDR is a tried and true troubleshooting technique. If you read the release notes, there is a section about how the higher performing streaming Firewire driver will stress systems that were marginally operational. You did not tell us how big a DPC spike you are experiencing, but anything over 2000-2500 uS is where th trouble starts. The new driver can absorb larger spike, but you have to configure the driver operation mode to safe mode 1 or 2 and set the PowerSDR audio buffers to a larger value to queue the streaming IQ and MIDI data during the DPC induced data outage. If you are still having issues, I recommend that you submit a support ticket via our HelpDesk (http://helpdesk.flexradio.com) so we can assign you a case number and investigate it further. Our support team has much more experience troubleshooting and resolving these types of issues. I thought it had improved yesterday with a different buffer size; however, today the system is so unstable PSDR will only run for a few minutes prior to freezing and crashing. I had run LatencyMon v4 last evening, and things looked like normal - some DPCs but very untroubling. Found the v6 upgrade which is now reporting pretty large DPCs from, like yours, the NVidia card. Also the DirectX kernel. Well, the NVidia drivers were just updated recently and are the latest. Do you know if there are any performance levers to adjust there? Not sure where to look for a solution to the DirectX kernel DPC - just starting to look around now. I am not ready to blame v2.7.2 either at this point; however, why things worked at first and are now so unstable with no known changes to the computer is most puzzling. Think the next thing I will try is blowing 2.7.2 away and trying a fresh install. If no go there, then maybe rolling back to previous version makes sense until possible bugs with computer get sorted. Also, just in case have run all the virus and malware checkers I have with no issues. Getting ready to run TDSKiller while at dinner. Re: [Flexradio] PowerSDR-DataTransfer Problem
Earlier this week FlexRadio Systems released PowerSDR^(TM) v2.7.2 with the new PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.0 Utility. It came to our attention that when using PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.0, a certain sequence of events of would result in the PowerSDR-DataTransfer's setup file becoming corrupted, not allowing for proper operation. This software defect was identified and corrected in version 1.0.1 of PowerSDR-DataTransfer which is now available for download and installation. Also PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1 is not included in all new PowerSDR v2.7.2 installations. FlexRadio Systems recommends that you upgrade to PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1 as soon as possible. Below is the PowerSDR-DataTransfer upgrade procedure. 1.) Shutdown PowerSDR and PowerSDR-DataTransfer if they are open 2.) Uninstall PowerSDR-DataTransfer Either open the Windows Control Panel and use the Remove a Program applet to remove PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.0 -or- Use the Uninstall PowerSDR-DataTransfer option located in the Windows Start Button-FlexRadio Systems-PowerSDR-DataTransfer folder to uninstall PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.0 3.) Download and install PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1 Download the updated PowerSDR-DataTransferSetup.exe program from the FlexRadio web site. Run this program on the PC where you have PowerSDR v2.7.2 loaded to install it. The download URL is: http://support.flex-radio.com/Downloads.aspx?id=435 Once you have upgraded to PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1, you should be able to migrate data from previous versions of PowerSDR into PowerSDR v2.7.2 without any operational errors. If you experience any issues with the upgrade of PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1 or are not comfortable running the upgrade procedure listed above, please submit a HelpDesk support ticket at http://helpdesk.flexradio.com/home for official FlexRadio Systems technical assistance. As usual, I have managed to break it. After updating PowerSDR, and using SDRDataTransfer with complete success, I went back to look at the transfer program in more detail. Now, whenever I select a source file, any source file including the one I used before, I get an error box which says: Error setting 'SourceFile' value! Error setting value: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. This is followed by a second box: The database is not a complete database. Select a different database of open PowerSDR and re-create the database. Be certain you close PowerSDR properly after you have re-created the database. I have opened and closed PowerSDR, and rebooted with no help. I got my update so it is not an issue, but I wanted to report this. Re: [Flexradio] Is anyone using a single PC to run two SDR radios?
This is covered in the PowerSDR release notes, in the FLEX-5000 and FLEX-3000 Operation Notes, item #2 The bottom line is that you can not run multiple Firewire radios on the same PC. You can run a FLEX-5000 or FLEX-3000 with a FLEX-1500. To run another version of PowerSDR, you jut start it and then acknowledge that you want to run another instance when prompted that one is already running. Each instance of PowerSDR needs to have it's own set of VAC and virtual com ports defined for it.
