Yes I looked at it in person, detailed in the first post. Copart cancelled the bids I guess because seller didn’t respond. It’s up again in a couple of days. I was looking at a Saturn Ion, not really damaged, clean title, runs and drives but 180k and looked like it was not taken care of. Starting bid $200 BIN 650. Last week it went $200, and didn't sell. This week it had a $200 prebid, and as soon as the auction went live, the seller has released the minimum bid, and whoever kept bidding on it got it for $200. Just keep being the high bidder for 2-3 weeks, and the seller will give up and let you have it. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

I'd fetch the car and the title from the CoPart yard (the 2000 mile Cruze in Cleveland was a bit of a journey in the ML350) and he'd process the title after I gave it to him. The time I bought salvage, he sat on the title until I had it repaired and inspected, that way it went straight from salvage titled to Farmer's to Rebuilt titled to me. From what you are seeing, I would likely rule out head gasket also. Pretty quick test so cheap to do. Looks like it just needs to be sorted out a bit. Does it have the correct pressure cap on the radiator for that vehicle? , and is the cap working correctly. On Tue, Jun 18, 2019 at 3:19 PM Kaleb C. I really do not think it has a blown head gasket. I pulled the cap on the expansion tank and they had it filled completely to the top, no room for expansion. Just depends on the state. In OK I can buy clean and salvage title vehicles, MO only clean titles, TX is salvage title only. I have also bought a couple from Louisiana. Both were clean title cars but I think you can buy both there. Sent from my iPhone > On Jun 17, 2019, at 5:55 PM, Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes > wrote: > > So you can buy stuff directly? OK doesn’t require a broker, I believe. Many states, like FL, do, however. I drive by the local CoParts yard all the time, but never bother to look. For what I would pay a broker it’s rarely worth it. Probably cheaper to get a dealer’s license. -D > On Jun 17, 2019, at 6:49 PM, Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes > wrote: > > Do you mean broker? I saw something like that outside of Dallas some years ago. They had built a whole town and then the market went bust. There were developments all over the place but no body living there. Very light traffic and importantly to me no restaurants.Strangely the only hotel was an extended stay. I don't remember which chain but it was a pretty nice hotel. -Curt On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 5:15:30 PM EDT, Dan Penoff via Mercedes wrote: Sounds much the same as I recall. Going to the GABC is a right of passage for the first visit to ANC. It harkens back to the days of the pipeline and the gold rush mentality of those times. I can recall being up there in the 80s after the pipeline was completed, and how badly the economy crashed. You would drive out into the ‘burbs of ANC and see block after block of empty office buildings, shuttered businesses, etc. It was almost post apocalyptic looking. -D > On May 1, 2019, at 3:30 AM, Clay Monroe via Mercedes > wrote: > > Been past, tried to get my now adult child to go see it. Re: [MBZ] Copart SL500
I fully appreciate all your advice. I am trying to be as well kempt as allowable. I am supposed to go out to dinner for Wednesday. I inquired as to dress code. She says I will be fine. I want to know the caliber of the establishment, as it will be a meal with another attorney chum of hers. I figure formal. I should dress well. Alaska is the land of hiking boots, jeans and fleece jackets. But twice she has tried to wrangle me into black tie events with assurance that there will not really be black ties. There were no tails, but ties and tuxedo were very evident. I had to leave my very formal wear back home, so it was business suit. Even got a new shirt and bow tie. As for old cars, she is not interested. Very practical gal. And sort of clueless at times. Blue collar upbringing and offended by the class distinctions she is now expected to conform to. Living in the bush seems to fit her better than hob nobbing with the powerful in a Tech Town like Seattle where there were people with money and the need to dress well. I will return to my bottom feeder cars and she can drive her camper clay. >> > > I believe I suggested all of this to you before, but I will say it again as a > reminder. > > She is a lawyer. let your hair and beard grow, practice saying "my name Jose Jimenez" "No ingles" and asylum, (and acting like you don't understand anything) and everything will be handed to you on a platter in seattle. Randy, Just an observation on my part…. I totally understand where you’re coming from, but the likelihood that Clay’s spouse works in an oak paneled office with associates wearing three piece tailored suits and Italian loafers or Allen Edmonds wingtips is slim, based on my experience working in Alaska. Even more so as they’re not in a “major metropolis”, like Anchorage. I’m betting the dress code at her place of business is far more relaxed. Alaska is a very, very different place than the Lower 48 or for that matter, any Canadian province (excluding the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, of course.) And while I’m not one to judge, my wife may or may not approve of my hobbies at times, but she understands that they’re something I get great pleasure and enjoyment out of and she accepts that. Granted, I don’t have 2-3 older Mercedes in need of work or repairs other than my finnie, but if we lived in a place where I could have such things, I would and she would be accepting of it (as long as they weren’t parked on the front lawn, of course.) I have been banned from working on the cheep. She accosted me last night because I had the hood up with the battery on the charger. Just trying to keep it functional so #2 boy will be able to find a summer job when he comes back from university in a week. Her crazy plan is to sell the cheep and replace it with some pop up camper thing. That it would fit in her garage. The Cheep has a hard time fitting now. Removing the unused work out equipment and stack of winter tires will not fit a Great White North pickem-up vehicle in that tiny space. I saw that one. Might not be too badly damaged for cheap. Hood, fender bumper might fix it up, though of course those parts are not particularly cheap. The top is probably not working so it has gotten ratty inside. Fixed up it might be worth $3k if the top is toast, and no hardtop. --FT On 4/30/19 1:52 PM, Mitch Haley via Mercedes wrote: Wasn't in great condition before the wreck by the looks of it. https://www.copart.com/lot/30005399 ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] CoPart weirdness
You really need to review the license requirement page. It will list who can bid on what based on state and based on what sort of title it has. In some states, public can bid on anything. In other states, public can only bid if it has a clear title. In others, public can only bid if it has a salvage title. This does not seem to depend on what state the auction if physically located in, it depends on what state the vehicle is titled in. For example, I once had a car I was bidding on in Texas which public can only bid on salvage title vehicles. This vehicle had a clear Oklahoma title so I was able to bid even though it Texas I could not. I could bid because the title was in OK. I ended up getting outbid though. https://www.copart.com/Content/US/EN/Licensing/LicensingOverview On 5/26/2018 7:50 AM, Mitch Haley via Mercedes wrote: A week ago I put a test bid on an SL500 to see if it was open to public bidding.
