Actually, it wasn't the kids that left me shuddering--Rick Tocchet took the Cup to bed w/ his wife--it was the entire scene. (Some guy eating minature hot-dogs off of tooth-picks, an over-abundance of procreation: real trailer-park bliss.) And really, complaining about Hatcher's kids beating the Cup with plastic swords is ridiculous. If that makes you cringe, you REALLY need to read up on yr Stanley Cup lore for some hilarious stories of Cup debauchery. I read a great story once in the Wall Street Journal about the gentleman whose job it is to escort the Cup everywhere.

[MMouse]: CMJ Review Of TMA
MODEST MOUSE The Moon Antarctica From the pages of the CMJ New Music Report, Issue: 670 - Jun 12, 2000 Before the band even hit the studio to record The Moon Antarctica, Modest Mouse had a lot to answer for. The album marks the band's leap from the indie rock world to the majors, but luckily, Mouse vocalist/guitarist Isaac Brock is not a guy easily affected by such things. The Mouse's third full-length album shows no signs of artistic sell-out or forced commerciality, and continues Brock's desperate battle to understand the conundrum of loneliness in the tightly packed modern world with all the earnestness and frustration of the band's past work. Modest Mouse trademarks, such as his self-effacing honesty, remain completely intact and he comes clean with soul-baring confessions such as, "Everything that keeps me together is falling apart/I've got this thing that I consider my only art of fucking people over," and "Well it took a lot of work to be the ass that I am." As his internal mania is unleashed in the lyrics, the music is at once pop, punk, psychedelic and rootsy, filled with frantic, bending moments that coalesce into expansive interludes during which individual sounds meld into one awe-inspiring sonic motion. Though awfully neurotic, this Mouse has nothing to be modest about at all. -Kelso Jacks

(ooh, people started telling califone to get off the stage... i'm not super califone fan, they were all right, but that was really uncalled for... so they siad they'd play another ling ballad... fuck the sd kids in the ass boys)... ok, so mouse comes out and there's just this huge push forward. fucking asses, you can't get any closer... the stage is still going to be there isn't it? and by you pushing, well, you aren't going to make the people any more compact... some stupid fuck starts crowd sufing... hmm, pearl jam show? issac said something about him being an ass for doing that shit with no music playing... gets up on stage and kisses poor issac... and it seemed to last for a long time... but dood, issac got fucking pissed. he pushed the kid back into the crowd and i swear i thought the guitar was going to hit the kid somewhere... "the next person that does that i swear to god i'll kill you"... and that's when the show went down hill... he was pissed the whole time... no encore... and stupid fucks moshing... some sloppy cunt next to me kept dancing... but not the cute kind, the i'm going to invade your bubble and fucking put my elbows in your eye sockets... i elbowed her on principle, fucking bitch... seriously, this was the first time i have seen the mouse... and i'm pretty bummed... fuck you san diego... i know my la shows will be better... the kids there are much more curtious and tend to have i.q's higher than, say, 45. and i'm sorry if you were there or that you are from sd and you weren't doing anything, this doens't go out to you... this goes out to the stupid motherfuckers who, if i see them again, will get run over by me... after the show, when everyone was waiting around for an encore, some kids grabbed the mic and i think they were singing or something... maybe it was just making a jackass out of themselves in general, anyway, the mic got taken away super quick... poor dusty... the boy travels like 3000 miles so he can get crushed bu assholes... sorry dollface... i could have almost put money on the place being on verge of a small time riot... on a lighter note... issac told us to be quiet and for any one that was sisqo to speak up... he put him on the guest list aparently (mtv beach house is down the street)... epic is putting out the vynal... it's part of the deal, i heard the I say it himself... i'm going to bed now... sleeping away the part of the day... love and bowl cuts, leigh

Of late, Black has co-starred in the big-screen comedy "High Fidelity," and has recently been linked to a number of anticipated movies, including Mike Myers' forthcoming film "Dieter," based on "Sprockets," a sketch he honed on "Saturday Night Live." yeah! it seems when a band wants to try and make money, they turn to emoish music...ex: blink 182, face to face, pennywise, lagwagon. there are more but i cant think very straight right now. and dont ask my opinion on the new sdre album cause i dont like them very much to begin with. im gonna take the promo from my work and compress it to mp3 format so if you have napster and wanna hear it...my napster name is "OBandana_ThrashO". so feel free to download from me. ~blake - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2000 8:31 AM Subject: Re: [MMouse]: New Murder City Devils album what does the new sdre sound like? i heard one song which to me sounded like a mix from LP2 and how it feels i kinda liked it and alot bands are slowing down their music to an "emoish" sound now... which is crazy. like face to face :*( anyways im still late for work jesse

At least in our parking lot all the lights will be working. Mark Bleib Immer Locker. hehehe. chris, we agree. i love hearing the devils cry about always being the victims. They are playing the refs and it works. There's no damn crying in hockey. god, i hate that team. speaking of basketball, I'm cheering for the Pacers. Man, I'm so jealous. I wanted to do that trip. It was so hard for me not to quit my job and keep following them. The friends that went with me to Dallas and Austin shows were both jobless hippies that could have done it, but I couldn't. I agree with you about MM being nice guys. I didn't talk to Isaac, but I did talk to Jeremiah, Eric and the second guitarist quite a bit in Dallas. We gave them a left-handed cigarette, and they were pretty grateful. I have been following the mouse since dallas and will end tomorrow night in phoenix. that means i have followed them across texas, through new mexico and over to arizona. That's five shows, 2,500 miles, and about two cartons of cigarettes. last night jeremiah asked me if i was stalking them and i told him that i was just taking the long way to phoenix since i'll be living there for a couple months this summer. they are all really cool guys and i have been on the guest list everynight so i haven't had to pay to get in, but if you figure in gas money i'm paying about double the door price. it's been the most fun five days i've had in a long while and if i had the funds i would go all the way to seattle with them. the shows have been nothing less than spectacular with an almost completely different set each night. the shins are good, califone is good, and the mouse is good and the moon and antarctica album has kept me sane for all these miles. i can't stop listening to the damn record, it's so diverse from beginning to end and it's such a nicely structured album that i have to say it is the best damn thing they have done. i want to become the first mouse head but i think someone has already done what i've done. oh well, next time they go on tour maybe i can find someone to go with me. it's lonely on the road but this whole trip was worth it. damn i love lazy summers, jacob Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

Who says there is no such thing as gracious winners?] Keep reading, Justin Dear Dr. Laura, Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's law. I have learned a great deal from you, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them: When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. How should I deal with this? I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as it suggests in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. Lev. 25:44 states that I may buy slaves from the nations that are around us. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Can you clarify? I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself? A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 10:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Lev. 20:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear prescription glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here? I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

They are playing the refs and it works. There's no damn crying in hockey. god, i hate that team. speaking of basketball, I'm cheering for the Pacers. They knocked out the Sixers and Reggie Miller is as big a wuss as they come, but I can't handle Shaq. .mer.
[MMouse]: Help Me with MM shirt design?
Open Invite - Hey I've been working on a Modest Mouse shirt design but I ran into a problem. The design I have needs to include the listing of their tour dates but I'm having a problem inserting the dates so they align properly. If anyone is willing to help me out I'll be sure to give them credit or some other compensation for there effort (if they like). I want it to look professional so no mspaint prodigies. E-mail me privately and I'll send you the image I have and the list of dates. Adam Kind [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Well, I think if you're "Jennifer Ringley, the original webcam superstar," you're fucking beautiful. "Other than that, I was completely lost." Re: [MMouse]: (No Subject)
I'm down for meeting up for the Sat. MM show. Maybe we should have a group get together before the show or something? I'm sure there has to be quite a few MM fans in the Seattle area. I'm thinking gameworks or something.. they have a nice restraunt / bar so all ages would be satisfied... The copy I--umm-- heard doesn't have that song on it! Hmm. Also, ( I've asked this once before, but) is the I Came as a Rat the same version on the new album? Wondering when I'll get my 12" to spit shine, Justin On Sun, 4 Jun 2000, Dave wrote: I got my Night on the Sun 12" the other day. It's kool that "Willful Suspenion of Disbelief" is on it, cause that song is so beautiful/creepy. The part that sounds kinda like horns makes me shiver. But i don't understand why "You're the Good Things" and "I Came as a Rat" are on the record, cause the album which has both those songs on it is coming out soon. I sure that the boys had some other b-sides that would be more interesting. The cover art is pretty good, and the insert has lyrics. The alternate title for "i came as i rat" is "long walk off a short dock" Northwest people- i'm going to both shows in Seattle; i'll be the really drunk short guy who's not Isaac. --- -dave "the sky, it doesn't ever end, the air just gets much thinner further up" GO GREEN-VOTE FOR NADER Angelfire for your free web-based e-mail. http://www.angelfire.com Angelfire for your free web-based e-mail. http://www.angelfire.com
