they're usually with their indie-boyfriends, but still...

issac: you MUST check out the interview with Issac at JamTV.com. I think

total jerk to the girl interviewing him. It's pretty funny actually, only
because the girl is from Rolling Stone and is trying so hard to sound like

dates.txt = list of MM show dates
MMshirt_list.jpg = jpg file for the list
kingrichard.zip = compressed PC Font typeface I would prefer used for the
dates / I could settle for a plain system type font as well.

I want the dates in columns in the middle white space of the picture. Your
more than welcome to change the size of the image but don't blow it up to
much remeber it has to fit on a t-shirt.

Understand the graphic needs more work I AM NOT an artist in any sense. Feel

Actually, it wasn't the kids that left me shuddering--Rick
Tocchet took the Cup to bed w/ his wife--it was
the entire scene. (Some guy eating minature hot-dogs off of
tooth-picks, an over-abundance of procreation: real

And really, complaining about Hatcher's kids beating
the Cup with plastic swords is ridiculous. If that
makes you cringe, you REALLY need to read up on yr
Stanley Cup lore for some hilarious stories of Cup
debauchery. I read a great story once in the Wall

 escort the Cup everywhere.

[MMouse]: CMJ Review Of TMA

2000-06-08 Thread George Booze

MODEST MOUSE
The Moon Antarctica
From the pages of the CMJ New Music Report, Issue: 670 - Jun 12, 2000
Before the band even hit the studio to record The Moon Antarctica, Modest
Mouse had a lot to answer for. The album marks the band's leap from the
indie rock world to the majors, but luckily, Mouse vocalist/guitarist Isaac
Brock is not a guy easily affected by such things. The Mouse's third
full-length album shows no signs of artistic sell-out or forced
commerciality, and continues Brock's desperate battle to understand the
conundrum of loneliness in the tightly packed modern world with all the
earnestness and frustration of the band's past work. Modest Mouse
trademarks, such as his self-effacing honesty, remain completely intact and
he comes clean with soul-baring confessions such as, "Everything that keeps
me together is falling apart/I've got this thing that I consider my only art
of fucking people over," and "Well it took a lot of work to be the ass that
I am." As his internal mania is unleashed in the lyrics, the music is at
once pop, punk, psychedelic and rootsy, filled with frantic, bending moments
that coalesce into expansive interludes during which individual sounds meld
into one awe-inspiring sonic motion. Though awfully neurotic, this Mouse has
nothing to be modest about at all.

SAN DIEGO! that's right kids... fuck san diego. i like the city fine and
all, it's quite nice if you ask me, but the kids at the shows there are
simply rude. so me and dusty get there and we talk to a couple of pretty
young kids in line who were really nice... high school kids that were stoked
to go see the mouse... it was cute. anyway, so we get in there... of course,
to the right of the stage for maimum lisp and spit... and the shins play and
they were cute and then califone played and the huge basist kept on looking
at the chicks next to me. so by now people have definately filled in canes.
it's pretty crowded, and it's not the type of people i would have expected,
go figure. so, ok... mouse comes out, sets up their shit and leaves...
fucking crowd is all chanting shit, espically after he said it would be
another 15 minutes. (ooh, people started telling califone to get off the
stage... i'm not super califone fan, they were all right, but that was really
uncalled for... so they siad they'd play another ling ballad... fuck the sd
kids in the ass boys)... ok, so mouse comes out and there's just this huge
push forward. fucking asses, you can't get any closer... the stage is still
going to be there isn't it? and by you pushing, well, you aren't going to
make the people any more compact... some stupid fuck starts crowd sufing...
hmm, pearl jam show? issac said something about him being an ass for doing
that shit with no music playing... gets up on stage and kisses poor issac...
and it seemed to last for a long time... but dood, issac got fucking pissed.
he pushed the kid back into the crowd and i swear i thought the guitar was
going to hit the kid somewhere... "the next person that does that i swear to
god i'll kill you"... and that's when the show went down hill... he was
pissed the whole time... no encore... and stupid fucks moshing... some sloppy
cunt next to me kept dancing... but not the cute kind, the i'm going to
invade your bubble and fucking put my elbows in your eye sockets... i elbowed
her on principle, fucking bitch... seriously, this was the first time i have
seen the mouse... and i'm pretty bummed... fuck you san diego... i know my la
shows will be better... the kids there are much more curtious and tend to
have i.q's higher than, say, 45. and i'm sorry if you were there or that you
are from sd and you weren't doing anything, this doens't go out to you...
this goes out to the stupid motherfuckers who, if i see them again, will get
run over by me... after the show, when everyone was waiting around for an
encore, some kids grabbed the mic and i think they were singing or
something... maybe it was just making a jackass out of themselves in general,
anyway, the mic got taken away super quick... poor dusty... the boy travels
like 3000 miles so he can get crushed bu assholes... sorry dollface... i
could have almost put money on the place being on verge of a small time
riot... on a lighter note... issac told us to be quiet and for any one that
was sisqo to speak up... he put him on the guest list aparently (mtv beach
house is down the street)... epic is putting out the vynal... it's part of
the deal, i heard the I say it himself... i'm going to bed now... sleeping

[MMouse]: OT: Tenacious D

2000-06-08 Thread KneeXsocks

From Billboard:

The members of cult duo Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Gass) are developing
a feature film, tentatively titled "The Tenacious D Project," according to
The Hollywood Reporter. The pair had a short-lived series on HBO, and
previously appeared on the network's sketch comedy program "Mr. Show."

Of late, Black has co-starred in the big-screen comedy "High Fidelity," and
has recently been linked to a number of anticipated movies, including Mike
Myers' forthcoming film "Dieter," based on "Sprockets," a sketch he honed on
"Saturday Night Live."

For some time, a major-label bidding war to secure the services of Tenacious
D has been underway, but the band signed with Epic last month. Black's
rendition of Marvin Gaye's soul classic "Let's Get It On" is featured on
Hollywood's "High Fidelity" soundtrack.

   Modest Mouse Settles Lawsuit

As previously reported, Modest Mouse was
facing a lawsuit from a victim of the
chaos that occurred at a 1991 charity
basketball game (read story here). The
tables have now turned in favor of Modest
Mouse, as the lawsuit was settled out of court.
The plaintiff, Nicole Levy, was suing
Modest Mouse for $2 million because she sustained a
thyroid disorder after she was hurt at
the charity event. Earlier this month Modest Mouse
offered $50,000 as a settlement, but Levy
felt "insulted" by the offer.

Yesterday, they settled the suit out of
for court for an unspecified amount. "It
remains that Nicole Levy's case is
without merit," said Modest Mouse's lawyer, Luke Pittoni,
in a statement. "Rather than have
protracted litigation, we have come to an
   acceptable resolution and are very
pleased with the outcome."

different set each night. the shins are good, califone is good, and the
mouse is good and the moon and antarctica album has kept me sane for all
these miles. i can't stop listening to the damn record, it's so diverse
from
beginning to end and it's such a nicely structured album that i have to say
it is the best damn thing they have done. i want to become the first mouse
head but i think someone has already done what i've done. oh well, next
time
they go on tour maybe i can find someone to go with me. it's lonely on the
road but this whole trip was worth it.

2000-06-06 Thread Todd Houlette

I just got the Night on the Sun 12" yesterday and it
is really good. A nice sweet little taste of the mouse
before the new album comes out. If I'm not mistaken
"Night on the Sun" is the same version as on the
Japanese EP, but "You're the Good Things" is a
complete new version or at least a remix. "I Came as a
Rat" sounds like the same version on the new one and
"Willful Suspension of Disbelief" sounds great. I'm
curious what will be on the other 12"s that are coming
out since this is suposedly in a series of three.
Enjoy!

[MMouse]: New Murder City Devils album

2000-06-06 Thread Blake

i picked it up today, ive heard most of the songs
already via napster/ split 7"s/my friend got the promo/shows and already knew it
wasnt gonna be all that great, but i bought it anyways to see the art and
enhanced shit on the CD. the art is so awsome, it has pictures of all the
members slaughtered from a brootal murder. i heard the first 1000 LP's
come with a cutout skull stencil...but i think i'll pass...im not a huge
collector. anyways, its worth hearing if your a MCD fan. its much
slower and more rock n roll. ok, i'll stop.

~Blake Sinclair

p.s. new Belle and Sebastian rock's the house
too. the album is pretty usual for BS but the last 2 songs are mind
blowing.

[MMouse]: SEATTLE SHOWS

2000-06-06 Thread Dave

OK, for listers going to the Seattle show on the 17th, i think it would be best to
meet on Capitol Hill somewheres, probably a little down the hill from Broadway. I
dunno exactly where. I would say we should be real indie fucks and meet at the
Cha-Cha, but i don't think y'all are 21 yet.
Then again it's kinda far to walk downtown, but not really, i'm pretty used to it. I
dunno. Umm...Hamburger Mary's has beer an' stuff, near the corner of Olive and Summit,
i think. That could be a good place to meet.
Anybody got any ideas?
I'm kinda opposed to Gameworks. That whole section of town pisses me off.

   Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's law. I have

learned a great deal from you, and I try to share that knowledge with as

many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual

lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly

states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from

you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow

   them:

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a
 pleasing

odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my

neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. How should I deal

   with this?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as it suggests in Exodus

21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for
her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her
 period

of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I
tell?

I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may buy slaves from the nations that are around

us. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans but not

   Canadians. Can you clarify?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2

clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill

   him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an
abomination

(Lev. 10:10), it is a lesser abomination than

homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

Lev. 20:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a

defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear prescription glasses.
Does

my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you
 can

help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and

   unchanging.

Well, it goes to show how dedicated their players are. Devils have one
