Ann,
A circular works on any camera. A linear polarizer can cause problems
on cameras that have complex light paths to the AF or exposure meter
sensor. Linear polarizers are cheaper and more efficient than
circular ones, that's why it's important to know the distinction and
when they can be used.

Typical wisdom is that a circ pol should be used on AF cameras, and that
such a pol should be used on the DS. Maybe you should compare both and see
if there's a difference. Maybe the need to use a circ pol is just some
internet legend that has spread over the years.

It can cause problems with autofocus and focus confirmation. Pentax
autofocus sensors are underneath a semi-silvered portion of the reflex
mirror. If you're not relying on either you'll have no problem,
otherwise you should use a circular polarizer.

That's a killer price. I paid $1700 for mine (including 1.4x TC), and
felt I got a really good deal. That was for a lens which KH would
probably grade good at best; there were scuff-marks on the exterior,
although the glass was immaculate.

Given the way high-quality Pentax glass is going on eBay at present,
I'd expect you to get significantly more than $1500 for this lens.

I agree, you're turning this into an 'off eekbay' auction.
At least let us know what you'd 'like to get' so we know where
reasonable might lie.
Do some research on eBay, it'll give you real world numbers as
to what this stuff is bringing.

It's some abrasion on the *outside* of the filter ring so it doesn't
affect the use of filters at all. The filter thread is perfect.

I can hardly see the flaw from Your photos...

Well it's not very easy to see in person either, but I want to be sure
any buyer knows about it first. It's absolutely trivial even from a
cosmetic standpoint in my opinion, but everyone has a right to know it's
there before plunking down their money.

RE: FS Friday: MX screens plus extra tweezers/screen cases

2004-10-17 Thread Paul Ewins
Joe, I'm interested in both screens if you don't mind sending to Australia.
Payment by Bidpay or Paypal. Just one question though, is the box for the
SC-1 screen marked as being SC-1, or is it from some other screen. Usually
it seems that the owner buys a different screen and then pops the SC-1 in
the case that the new screen came in.

Thanks,

Also FS:

Pentax Focusing Screen M SD-11 (clear glass with crosshairs, perfect
for astrophotography, microscope photography, etc.) EX+ condition,
includes tweezers/case/box. $15.

Pentax Focusing Screen M SC-1, standard MX screen with split image
surrounded by microprism circle. Has a few light cleaning marks that
someone with the proper screen cleaning technique could likely clean
off. Includes tweezers/case. $10.

I also have two extra tweezer/case/box sets without screens, for
anyone needing extras. Either send me postage plus a couple of
dollars or offer similar Pentax paraphenalia in trade.

Hi, Paul,
The SC-1 box is actually marked as such. Are you interested in the
other empty screen boxes (they do include tweezers)? I'd throw them in
with the others at no additional charge.

Joe Wilensky offered for sale:
 A Nishika N8000 four-lens 3-D camera (like the Nimslo). I don't know
if processing is still available for these exposures.

ISTR there having been a problem with a machine difficult to
find parts for at the one remaining plant that made lenticular
prints (no special viewer neede for 3-D effect); if anyone is
interested I can ask whether that every got cleared up. But
if you get ahold of a stereo-viewer (American Civil War era
technology, still available today), you can take two of the
four half-frame images produced per exposure and paste them to
card stock to make nice stereo pairs. That's also a _lot_
cheaper than the lenticular prints.

The film advance on the Nishika is a little balky compared to
the Nimslo (you'll waste a frame arguing with it now and then),
but it's still quite a fun camera.

I have one more item to sell that I have not yet posted to ebay.
It's
 an El-Nikkor 105/5.6 enlarging lens.

I'm not interested in it myself, though if I didn't have a nice
Rodenstock 105 I would be.
I just thought I would put a plug in for that lens.
It is to enlarging lenses what the 105mm Micro Nikkor is to camera
lenses.
If you are interested in setting up a darkroom for printing 6x7 or
even 645 negs, or want a heck of a nice piece of glass for the front
of a bellows, this is an excellent lens choice.

Hi guys,

Well, I have a number of items that I would like to sell. I will be eBaying
them, but thought I'd offer them up to you lot first...

1 x KAF mount Tamron 28-200mm f3.8-5.6 Aspherical AF lens including 72mm
Hoya UV filter and front and rear lens caps. This has been a great lens,
and was my staple wedding lens for some time, until the 28-80/2.8 came
along. Now it just sits lonely in my camera cupboard, and I need the money,
so out he goes. Fungus free, and optically perfect. Aesthetically, I'd say
an 8-9 out of 10. usd$100.00 plus shipping.

1 x pentax mount Sigma 430st flash gun - GN 43 with AF spot beam and tilt
head. Another workhorse in my kit that has been replaced by the AF500ftz.
8.5/10 usd$50.00 plus shipping.

1 x 4 mp Olympus E-10 digital SLR camera package (this used to be Rob
Studdert's, and has been meticulously cared for!). The buyer will recieve
the Oly, complete with manuals, software and original box, video cable,
camera strap, USB cable, original lens cap, and flower shaped hood. Also
included is a 128mb SD card, the RM-CB1 remote cable, a brand new set of
2100 rechargeable batteries and a brand new (never used!) Phoenix 0.65 x
Professional Ultra Wide lens with leather-look pouch. (I bought this the
same week that I bought the *istD, so it has never seen the light of day!).
If anyone is interested, and willing to go with my asking price, I'll
include a 256mb CF card, and free shipping to anywhere in the world. This
camera is a great way to get into SLR digital photography, and no lens
purchases needed! It sports a beautiful macro focusing 35-140mm fixed lens
that is f2.6-2.8! Everything about this camera is in wonderful working
condition, and it has never missed a beat during my use. Aesthetically,
there is some small amount of wear in the paint on the base and a small
scratch in the paint next to the hot shoe. Apart from that, this camera is
immaculate. usd$575 with free shipping and a free 256mb CF card.

thanks for lookin'!

:-)

FA PowerZoom 28-105 F4.0-5.6. This is one of my favorites, but I have
two. (The other one will be taken, as the saying goes, from my cold,
dead hands.) It's a wonderful, sharp lens, and the best 28-105 that
Pentax had made. It's large and a bit heavy on MZ/ZX bodies, wonderful
on the (P)Z-1 or 1p. Ex or EX+ by KEH standards. KEH sells them for
$126. This one is $100. It is truly a lot of lens for $100.

Pentax AF 400T turnip-masher flash, with bracket. GN 130 (in feet).
This is a big, professional flash, that tilts, swivels, and twirls in
all directions. If you can't illuminate your subject with this, wait
until daylight. Can also be used to club spouses who change the
settings on color-calibrated monitors. EX or EX+. KEH sells them from
$189 to $205. Yours for $150.

Sigma 70-300 AF APO Macro F4.0-5.6. This is the apochromatic version,
and it yields quite sharp images. The macro capability if quite handy.
KEH has one in EX+ for $133. This one is like new with original box,
bag, shade, papers, all for $100.00

Olympus Varimagni Right Angle Finder. This one fits Pentax cameras (at
least since the PZ-1p, including the *ist D). It has 1.2 and 2.5x
magnification, and shifts between landscape and portrait mode. I'd
keep it, but since I wear glasses it is just too difficult for me.
$125, or make me a reasonable offer.

And the surprise: Arsat 35 mm. F2.8 shift/tilt in K-mount. This one
came directly from the factory in the Ukraine (where the K-mount
attachment was put on specifically to fill my order) and is still in
like new condition. Here's your chance to own a genuine tilt/shift
lens for a fraction of the price of a Japanese one. It is sharp,
sturdy, and well made. These go for over $400 on eBay. Yours for $300,
or make me a reasonable counteroffer.

If interested please contact me off-list at:
jtainter at mindspring dot com
In a few days anything not sold will go to KEH.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi,

This camera has been for a brief swim. Unfortunately, before I could
stop him, the owner turned it on to see if it was still working.
After the fireworks subsided, it became obvious that it wasn't..

It has been thoroughly dried out, just in case - no such luck - so there
is no corrosion internally. The top plate has some scratches and the
over for the RTF is missing. The plastic lens mount is cracked across
the motor drive hole.

There is a fully functional data back attached and there is a manual.
Just to be perfectly clear: this camera DOES NOT WORK. It may be
repairable.

It is free to anyone who wants it. Postage at cost, free packaging.

Please contact off list.

What Pentax glass does this fit? A* 300/2.8? FA* 250-600/5.6?

If so, then I believe I'm interested.

Good question - anyone know the filter sizes for the above lenses?

Hi all.

Yes, you read that right. 112mm. I've got this filter sitting in my
drawer that's doing nothing. I originally got it from B and H in NY for a
Tokina 300mm f/2.8 as a front-element protector for $100US. It is in
Exc++ condition - the glass is clear and unmarked, a tiny bit of brassing
on the metalwork. Inscription reads:

'SMC PENTAX PF FILTER 112mm JAPAN'

I thought I would keep it for a rainy day but I can't see myself buying
another fast 300mm anytime soon.

For sale at $100US plus postage. Unfortunately no Paypal as I have cease
Paypal operations for now. Will bring to GFM for US greenbacks, or will
ship to any lister worldwide with payment in UK currency.

If nobody wants it, it goes back in the drawer...

Best,

Cotty, my other Tokina 300/2.8 came with a filter. And I took it off
and put it in a drawer. Funny, the filter was one of the reasons I
bought that particular lens, and sold you the other one, without a
filter, to which you promptly went out and... bought a filter. Then
sold the lens, but kept the filter. I still have my lens and filter.
Ohhh, I have a headache.

I just figured I'd hang onto the filter in case I got another 300 2.8, as
it seems to be a common size amongst fast teles. However, with the
'magnification' factor on less-than-full frame DSLRs, I'd rather spend
the money on something else - except that I don't have the money to spend
in the first place, if you see what I mean :-)

Cheers,
  Cotty

2004-02-07 Thread Mark Roberts
If anyone tried to email me yesterday about any of the gear I'm selling,
please contact me again. An email server glitch yesterday afternoon
deleted all the day's mail before I could read it.

BTW: A PZ-1p went for about $320.00 on eBay a week ago.

Duh. Why didn't I look there first?

(Or, for that matter, see if I could find the old scratched filter
that I got with my 300mm)

eMail me off list mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] and we'll discuss logistics.

Re: FS Friday: Last call on this gear

2004-02-06 Thread Joe Wilensky
Hi, Mark,

I already have a PZ-1p, or I'd be quite interested. Have there really
been no takers so far at that price? I briefly put my PZ-1p (EX+)
plus grip strap up for sale for $425 when I was considering switching
to the MZ-S. I had no takers, and eventually decided I'd rather keep
the PZ-1p anyway. I thought it was a good deal, as KEH has been
selling PZ-1p's in EX and EX+ condition for $450-$485 or so. But is
even the PZ-1p in so little demand on the list that prices have
fallen this much?

BTW, do you know why KEH consistently sells Z-1p cameras for
significantly cheaper than PZ-1p cameras, even in the same condition?
They are the exact same camera model, correct?

Joe

This stuff goes to eBay this weekend if there are no takers from the
PDML.
Z-1p in almost-like-new condition. With body cap, manual, box and
packing. AND extra battery. $300.00
ME in KEH bargain condition; everything works but there are some
*small* dents on the right side of the pentaprism housing. $40.00 for an
ideal carry everywhere second camera.
Near MINT K2 with SMC 50 f/1.4 (the original K series lens - 52mm
filter size) also in virtually perfect condition with Pentax 52mm lens
cap. Includes original owner's manual and Pentax everready case. This
camera and lens could go on the shelf of a camera shop and pass for new
stock. Lovely stuff. $250.00
