Shift+Delete really deletes
Hello, While trying to set up a system where pressing Shift+Delete would move emails to an archive folder, I lost several hundred messages. I selected all the messages in a folder, pressed Shift + Delete and specified the destination folder. The deletion progress bar finished, then the progress bar window hung. So I restarted the program. The files seem to have vanished. A normal delete would have put these messages in the Trash folder, which is empty. Where could they have gone and how can I retrieve them? Bayesit or Bayes Filter
Hello, I recently reinstalled TB! and wanted to try the spam plugin, Bayesit. This program is not working well at all; I "trained" it with over 3,000 spam messages, yet these are still routinely delivered into my inbox with very few ending up in the junk folder. I am using the default settings. I know there have been problems with Bayesit in the past but hoped these had been solved. I am thinking of switching to Bayes Filter, which worked well for me until I upgraded to a higher TB! version. Anyone have experience or suggestions for either of these programs? If I didn't want to try built-in spam software, I would go back to K9 which worked very well and which I would recommend. Keyboard shortcut
Hello all, I am trying to set up a keyboard shortcut for Justify Left. I open the Customize Window, create a new toolbar, add the command (from Message Editor Form in the left column). Then I right click "None" under the Shortcuts box on the right, and press the key I want (F10). I click Assign and the toolbar is created. The shortcut doesn't work, after all this. I have checked the option for this new toolbar in Customize, and not checked it. Neither works. As a strange byproduct, after doing all this, the right-click menu does not work when composing a message. Has anyone successfully set a new keyboard shortcut? This seems rather a painful procedure; not sure this is an improvement over the previous method. Transferring TB with batch file
Hello TBUDLers, I am trying to do a specific backup and restore using a batch file, so that I can transfer my current TB over to my new computer. Tony Boom has very kindly given me instructions to do so, using Winrar as my zip program. The only problem I can see is that my TB folder is called "TheBat2.0" for some reason (as opposed to "The Bat!"), even though it is the latest release. All new releases were installed into that folder and the name never changed. I cannot change the name of the folder (believe me, I tried). My question is, what wording, if any, do I need to change in the following file: --- @Echo off Path C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe Echo Echo * !! Backing up The Bat registry entries !! * Echo Echo . if exist TBbckup1.reg del TBbckup2.reg if exist TBbckup1.reg rename TBbckup1.reg TBbckup2.reg start /w regedit /e TBbckup1.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!" echo. if not exist TBbckup1.reg echo Error! Something went wrong. Backup not echo successful. if exist TBbckup1.reg echo Success! Your registry entries for The Bat! are echo backed up! Echo ** Echo * !! Creating RAR Archive of The Bat Directory!! * Echo ** Echo . if exist "C:\email\TBBackup.rar" del "C:\email\TBBackup.rar" C:\Progra~1\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe a -u -as "C:\email\TBBackup.rar" "C:\Program Files\The Bat!" --- I hope I have explained this properly. I have absolutely no experience with batch files or this type of procedure, so please make your response suitable for a simpleton like me. :-) Any help any of you can provide would be very much appreciated. Serious download problem update
Hello, and thanks to those who tried to help me with my download problem. To recap, when trying to access email from one account the Connection Centre would hang and the mail stayed on the server. Then, the only way to close the CC was to close TB! using Task Manager. AV and spam programs were turned off to test the system, and made no difference. I cleared the mail off the server using OE, which had no problem with the download at all. I reinstalled and re-setup all the offending account information, new folders, filters and so on. After a few beautiful normal message downloads, the Connection Centre started to hang again, often with messages visible that were not downloaded. Currently it hangs sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. History tells me it will only get worse. I haven't cleaned out (and sold) my old computer yet, and there TB! also sits, working perfectly. Something obviously happened in the transfer/restore. Can anyone at all suggest a way to safely move my old program into my new computer, or otherwise offer a solution? Last time I used TB's restore (onto disk) to move the program. Backup4All couldn't seem to do the job. Failing that, I am looking at other mail programs, much as I hate that idea. Is anyone able to offer help, or a source of help? -- Best wishes, Pat A Canadian in Houston Using The Bat! v3.0.1.33 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Current version is 3.0.1.33 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Serious mail download problem
Hello, I am having a real problem now with collecting mail; not sure whether it is a Connection Centre issue or not. The Connection Centre continues to "hang" ... it will stay open and unresponsive until I close TB! using the Task Manager. Other times it appears to have finished downloading, but does not close then either. Bottom line is that I am not receiving all incoming mail. For what it's worth, I uploaded a screenshot. http://www.tangleworld.com/screenshot.jpg Not sure how this will be helpful. It looks like the CC is in progress, but nothing is happening (honest). I've sent myself test messages (not received) and am aware of other messages not coming through. It seems to happen with the one account; I have double checked settings. And I have turned off my virus protection (NAV, which came with the system) with no change. Please tell me how I can resolve this. I hate to have to start up another email client. Here's hoping I receive the reply to this one (what is the name of the online list service?) Unfortunately it doesn't seem to make a difference if the window is in the background or foreground... just tested it now and the Connection Centre window is still open, blank now, even though the connection is finished. And, if I then manually close the Connection Centre window, then close TB!, I get the warning window: "Some tasks are now active. Do you want to exit when they are finished?" So I guess it is still technically open. Connection centre hang
Hello, The Connection Centre (the window that monitors incoming/outgoing mail) has started to hang after a new mail download. After mail is downloaded, the Connection Centre sits on the last account and does not close. Is this a bug; is there a solution or workaround? I should mention, though I hope it is not related, that I have just restored TB from a backup to a new computer. Hello, When composing a new message to (for example) TBUDL, my signature is not included (nor the to/from information), even though this is specified in the Address Book template, as follows: %TO=""%TO="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"%Cursor %FROM="P.Johnson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" %Serenader("X-Rogue",":Pat_J:")%- -- Best wishes, Pat A Canadian in Houston Using The Bat! v%THEBATVERSION on %WINDOWSPLATFORMNAME %- %WINDOWSMAJORVERSION.%WINDOWSMINORVERSION Build %- %WINDOWSBUILDNUMBER %WINDOWSCSDVERSION This template works fine if I start a new message from the AB, just doesn't work when I click on New Message from the main window. The folder template looks like this: %Cursor -- %DATESHORT ...though I understand the AB overrides the folder templates anyway. Can anyone please explain what I am doing wrong? Mail deleted from server
Forgive me if this is way off topic for this list, but I am having a strange problem with some emails being deleted from the server before I can download them. I am only aware of this because I see them in the SpamPal Bayesian filter reclassify window (just before they disappear forever). This happens with only a few messages as far as I can tell, but the reason mystifies me. They are marked spam by SpamPal, but I route all spam into a spam folder; I don't have them removed from the server. My ISP is blaming it on spam, virus and/or firewall programs, but none of these are have been set up to remove mail directly from the server. Could I have inadvertently specified something like this within TB? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, before I have to get on the phone with the wonderful Road Runner tech support. :-) Thanks in advance. -- Pat A Canadian in Houston Using The Bat! v2.02.3 CE on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Current version is 2.02.3 CE | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Filter question
Hello, Is there any reason why TB! would not automatically filter a message (when "Manual only" is not ticked in the filter rule) but will do so when asked to Re-filter Messages (Folder>right click)? I find my incoming filters failing me more and more lately... just not working in many cases. Could the adding of a new rule upset the system somehow (for example, by changing the order of the rules)? In the Sorting Office under the Options tab, should I always have the "Continue processing with other filters" box checked? One of my accounts is used for outgoing messages only, but shares an incoming account. For some reason all the incoming mail is duplicated into that account inbox, even though I have rules set up to allow only specific incoming messages. I'm confused now about upgrades and TB versions-- just registered v1.62 on August 27. Did not compute. So, can I go back to my previously registered 1.62 now that 2.0 has installed overtop? Will I have to pay after 30 days to access my mail again? I'm sorry but can't help resenting the cost of an upgrade after such a short time. What are my options...?
