Moving from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1

2015-04-17 Thread Susanne
Hi,

thanks for your help with the move.
Everything went okay, except my OS is listed rather oddly in my
signature. :)

I have one more question: how do I adjust the font of the message
subject etc. in the list? I can never find that particular setting.

Thanks in advance!

Moving from Win7 to Win8.1

2015-04-12 Thread Susanne
Hi,

my old laptop is at the end of its useful life, and the new one will
be Windows 8.1.

What's the easiest way to move TB and the database over to my new
computer?
Install TB on new pc, copy database over, and hope for the best? :)
From what I've read, the registry file should also be saved and
installed on the new pc, but I'm not sure if that should be done when
moving to a different OS.

Thanks for any advice!

Is it worth upgrading to v.6?
How is html working with that version, and would I need to buy a

If I did upgrade, would my current message base and all my

Setting up TB on new ssd drive, keeping the old drive as storage

2013-09-06 Thread Susanne
Hi,

I've recently installed an ssd on my laptop, keeping the old drive as
storage in the modular bay.

I set up TB fresh on the ssd, and then synced it with a TB install
from another laptop.
Everything seemed fine, but now I've noticed that the TB folders on
the ssd are somehow linked with the TB folders on my old c:/ drive
(now showing as d:/). When I change a folder name on D, the same
folder name gets changed on C.
I renamed the whole TB folder on D as an experiment, and TB was no
longer finding the messages, and I received error messages, when
checking my mail.

I've no idea, how I managed this, or how to fix this situation.
I was about to wipe the old drive, to use as file storage, but
fortunately, I haven't done that yet.

Can anyone help?

Quotation text color

Hi,

in older versions of TB, I could copy and paste text as quotation, and it

Nowadays, it appears with the quotation markers, but in black, so it's harder

This is only if I copy and choose paste as quotation, not when I highlight a

Backup problem

2010-12-30 Thread Susanne
Hi,

I've run into a problem, starting with upgrading the driver on the SD/MMC
card reader (Ricoh). It had stopped working, and the upgrade solved that, but
now TB can't do a backup.

I receive the error message: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a
disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1.

My choices are cancel, try again and continue, but none of them get me
anywhere.
I have to use the task manager to close TB and then the error window.

The regular backup drive is connected.

Any ideas what I can do to solve this?
Yesterday, I could do a manual backup by inserting an SD card, but that doesn't
work today, either.
I'm not really *sure* the SD card reader is the problem, but it's the only
thing I can think of.

Restore TB?

2010-11-28 Thread Susanne
Hi,

I made a silly mistake today, when I deleted the Windows xp partition
from a dual boot system, to keep just the Windows 7.
Everything went really well, but I forgot that I had set it up to
share TB between the XP and Win7.
Now I can't start TB, and copying over the files (I made an image of
the drive with Macrium Reflect before) doesn't work.
Reinstalling doesn't either. I only get the option to repair, modify
or uninstall TB, but all function give me an error message, because
the files aren't where they used to be.

And after deleting the Win xp partition, I also expanded another
partition and now I apparently can't use the Macrium Reflect backup to
go back.

Account log info wrong?

2010-09-11 Thread Susanne
Hi,

over the past few days I've noticed that the info (date/time of the recent
downloaded messages) is frequently wrong.
I don't normally use this feature very often, so this may have been going on
for some time.

Instead of showing me the info of the messages last downloaded
(date/time/filter), I get anything from a few hours ago, to messages from the
past day. And it's listed as if this were the most recent messages downloaded,
with nothing else shown after it.

If I wait a few minutes, or download mail again, it reverts to the correct
information.

Any ideas?

it's been ages since I set up TB on a new computer, and I can't for my life

Automatic backup that includes password protected account?

2009-09-19 Thread Susanne
Hi,

I recently had very helpful advice setting up an
Archive account for messages I'd like to keep,
but don't need constant access to.

What I noticed is that this account is not
included in the daily automatic backup, unless it
is open (I'm signed in) at the time of the backup,
even though it's set to backup all accounts.

Is this normal behavior, and if yes, how can I
include this account (new messages are added to it
pretty much daily).

TB lagging?

2009-08-28 Thread Susanne
Hi,

I've noticed this ever since I upgraded to version
4 and it's not a constant problem, but often
enough that it's really annoying.
When I switch from one message to the next, or
from one folder to another, or hit delete (or
pretty much any command), it can take up to 10
seconds before TB responds.

It's gotten to the point where I'm so frustrated
with this, that I'm contemplating another email
client, and I've been happy with TB for ages
(since version 1).

No other programs on my pc are affected, this
can happen even when cpu usage is at 2%, and I have
no other programs open.

Could it be a software conflict, and if it is, how
do I track it down without uninstalling
everything else?

Many, about 100.000.

What I just noticed is that TB doesn't show up in

when I click on anything in TB, *that* process
then shows up as Not responding in the task

CPU usage is at 3-5% at that time, then briefly
jumps to around 20% when TB finally reponds.

I don't use threading at all, and when the lag

What makes me wonder is why TB doesn't show up as
a running program in the Task Manager anymore. I
know it used to. Is this something the newer

How fragmented are your message bases? When you have this many
messages in a folder, disk fragmentation
 becomes an important factor,
 too.

No idea how fragmented they are. I do regular

 path/to/folder/%subj.txt
 Export format: plain text
When destination file exists: increment file name
(define a template if you want it
 different to the usual saved
 message template for the account)

I think this could be a solution, if only I were a
little more savvy!

This part in particular, is giving me problems:
   path/to/folder/%subj.txt

Let's say I wanted to save this in a folder
   with the following path:
 E:\My Documents\saved from email
Can you please tell me what exactly I would need
 to add in the filter?

 Thanks!

TB hangs?

2009-06-04 Thread Susanne
Hi,

things have been running along smoothly, but
  lately TB hangs a lot.
Most times I click on something, there is a 3-15
second lag, before TB responds (this is
switching to another folder, checking for mail,
etc.) and sometimes TB doesn't respond at all
and I have to end it via the task manager.
Is there a way to find out what might be holding

When do you get the error, with a specific

I've noticed it related to trying to print a

Spell check problem

2008-10-08 Thread Susanne
Hi,

I'm not sure if my previous post didn't make it
to the list (can't tell with gmail), or if there
is no answer, but I'm trying again.

A few days ago, I installed a new wordprocessing
program with spell check, and ever since, TB's
spell check has become really erratic.
A lot of common words are being marked as
mis-spelled and the suggestions for correction
 are ridiculous.
Words like shy, post, spell, marked, correction,
and many more in this message are underlined, for
 example.
I've since uninstalled the new wordprocessor,
cleaned the registry, but am getting really
frustrated with the useless spell checking now
happening in TB. How do I get the previous
 dictionary back?
 Uninstall and reinstall TB?

Gmail and TB, virus checking problem

2008-07-16 Thread Susanne
Hi,

I'm downloading my gmail with TB and run ESET

It seems, gmail can't be checked for viruses in TB
and I'm getting a lot of error messages.

For example, I tried saving an attachment to my

but TB can't save it.
First error says: The antivirus has reported and
error, the object cannot be checked for viruses.
When I click ok on that, I get: The attachment

Is there another program that will let me check
