[SOGo] Configurability of CNFieldName

2024-07-05 Thread Peter Wienemann

Dear SOGo experts,

I would like to achieve the following behavior:

CNFieldName should use displayName if it is set and cn otherwise.

Is it possible to configure this somehow? If I set

CNFieldName = displayName;

the observed behavior is that displayName is used if it is set and the
login name of the user serves as fallback.

Best regards,

Peter

[SOGo] SOGo and encrypted connections to MariaDB service

2024-06-05 Thread Peter Wienemann

Dear SOGo experts,

as soon as I enforce encrypted connections on our MariaDB service, SOGo
stops working ("Access denied for user 'sogo'@''") while
accessing the sogo DB from the SOGo host using the mysql CLI continues
to work. I do not find any way to ask SOGo to use encrypted connections
to the MariaDB service. Do I miss anything obvious?

[SOGo] SOGo 5.7.1: unable to write tasks for other users

2022-08-26 Thread "Peter Beck"

Hi there,

since upgrading to SOGo 5.7.1 we are unable to write tasks for other users. It
was working fine with 5.7.0, but in 5.7.1 users can select their own calendar
and no other. Writing calendar entries seems to work, but afaik a user could
change the calender in the list, which seems disappeared in the current release
(tested with 20220822 and 20220826 nightly).

Is this a configuration issue on my side or is it a bug ?

Thanks in advance
Peter

AW: [SOGo] - Error memcached

2022-07-18 Thread "Peter Nagel"
Hi,

this is only one half of the necessary steps: have you changed the bind-address
in your mysqld.cnf from

 bind-address=127.0.0.1

to

 bind-address=0.0.0.0

to allow external connections? You can try to connect locally via the ip of the
server instead of localhost to test this.

Ah, and if you are using iptables on the database server (which you really
should) check this too.

Bye, Peter

[SOGo] Policies automatic update for connector extension

2021-09-12 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

I am using Thunderbird policies to install sogo connector and some other
addons.

The connector is linked to my webserver and installs perfectly. But
when updating the extension to a newer version (by placing a newer file on the
webserver)
it won't update in Thunderbird.

Addons installed from addons.thunderbird.net are updated without issues.

my policies.json:

can I point App.update.url to multiple urls (my own server and
thunderbird addons) ?

Or how can I ensure that Thunderbird always installes the sogo-addon
referenced in policies.json and not just installs the extension once ?

Thanks in advance

There is no need to know user passwords to read all incoming emails: this could
be done via Sieve and an external command
(https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Pigeonhole/Sieve/Plugins/Extprograms), so i think
this is a valid feature request. If the developers don't want to have a static
sieve rule the User can't change they could implement a dovecot plugin: there
are multiple valid ways to achieve this.

Hi everyone,

we have a SOGo 5.0.1 server and connecting some client with EAS and Outlook
2019. It's working so far but we faced a serious issue:

The "From"-Field contains two not separated email addresses which is not RFC
compliant:

From: name.n...@domain.com <mailto:name.n...@domain.com>
<mailto:name.n...@domain.com>

It's tested with Outlook and some Android Clients. As long it's EAS, this from
field is wrong. Some provider start blocking those emails because, as i said,
they are not RFC compliant.

I know, Outlook 2019 is not officially supported, but Android is. Is there a
way to change this behaviour? Does anyone can verify this? Mabye our Sogo is
misconfigured.

Thanks in advance and have a nice weekend.

Betreff: [SOGo] Need help with external SMTP-server

Hello,

for a few days now I have been fiddling around with a SOGo-Server (selfhosted
nightly-build, version 5, updated daily at the moment) and so far I managed to
get almost everything up and running.

But there is one big issue I'd be very glad if anyone could give me a hint
what is wrong here.

The problem in short: I cannot send Mails to external recipients.

This is the basic setup:

The Mailserver with Dovecot and Postfix is on Server A, running for several
years now and I don't want to change the way things are on here too much. This
server has several the domains on it, among them abcd.tld and the Server-FQDN
is fqn.abc.tld

The new server B on which SOGo has been installed is a fresh VServer using
Debian 10, LetsEncrypt-Certificate for accessing the webfrontend and it uses
the nightly-builds. I followed the official installation guide and set up a
SOGo-Instance using Postgresql 11 for users authentification. The view within
my database with the names, passwords matching the mail-passwords and so on
exists and I can login successfully. I can see the Folders, read mails, create
appointments and so on.

This Server B on which SOGo is installed has received its own subdomain so
it's reachable at sogo.abcd.tld.

Long description of the problem:

My problem is that I cannot send mails to addresses outside of my own
domain-range. Meaning: I can send Emails with SOGos Webfrontend to any
email-address @abcd.tld or any other domain hosted on the server "A".

On this server A with postfix and dovecot there are several vhost-domains, for
example domain1.tld. As it resides on the same server as abc.tld I am able to
send a mail from address us...@abcd.tld <mailto:us...@abcd.tld> to
us...@domain1.tld <mailto:us...@domain1.tld> when using SOGo's webfrontend.
But using the Webfrontend I cannot send an email to external services like
user.n...@gmail.com <mailto:user.n...@gmail.com> or anything like that.

Using a classic Mail-App like thunderbird on my desktop pc which connects to
the emailserver on fqn.abc.tld directly works perfect and there are no
restrictions to send emails in any kind like mentioned above.

When I try to send mails from SOGo's Webfrontend I get these possible errors
depending on the config in /etc/sogo/sogo.conf:

First case:

more or less vanilla config setting as few ports as possible:

/etc/sogo/sogo.conf:

 SOGoDraftsFolderName = INBOX.Drafts;

 //MySQL4DebugEnabled = YES;
 //SOGoUIxDebugEnabled = YES;
 //WODontZipResponse = YES;

In this scenario I can send with sogo to all emailboxes hosted on Server A. As
soon as I try to send a mail to a mailbox hosted by anyone else (gmail, yahoo,
...), I get a 5.7.1 relay denied message from the recipient's server (eg.
gmail or yahoo) in my mail-browserwindow and the log in /var/log/sogo.log
says:

[SOGo] Reply to sender only - group mail lists

2019-05-26 Thread "Peter Grey"

Hello,
I apologise if I am posting this in the wrong location, I have spent some time
on forums and can't find the correct topic to search.

We have recently installed SOGo and are still in the teething stage. One of our
primary concerns at present is that when a user emails to a group list say
"everyone@domain..." and I then decide to "reply to sender only" the email
address that replies is "Pete everyone@domain..."

This becomes quite a privacy conern because if the original poster replies to
this reply, it is then sent out to the entire group again.
I do note that when you hit "reply to sender only" you are able to click a
dropdown box to change your email address, however this is combersome and
fraught for failure. Is there a way we can set up the "reply to sender only" to
ensure your personal email address is used and not that of whichever group you
are replying from?

Thank you in advance for your time

Thanks, guys, I'm on FreeBSD 11.2 too (jailed), I had the same
problem,NGImap4DisableIMAP4Pooling = NO; solved it for me!!

I've increased memcached memory too ;)

[SOGo] SOGo theming

2018-11-27 Thread Peter

Hello,

I'm trying to follow the procedure from here:

https://sogo.nu/files/docs/SOGoDevelopersGuide.html#_defining_an_alternate_color_theme

I have Sogo 4.0.2 installed.

I defined three new themes in theme.js and I replaced theme-default.css.

I see in the log that my browser downloaded theme.js and
theme-default.css, but I don't see any difference with the default theme
(but I should). I attached theme.js to this mail (as theme.txt).

What am I doing wrong? How can I debug this issue?

Best regards,
Peter

of course sogo-activesync is also installed and working flawlessy with
other devices but just not this one.

I assume this device is using an old version of ActiveSync wich doesn't
work well with current SOGo (because of the same issues with Z-Push

[SOGo] ActiveSync Loose Provisioning

2018-07-15 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

Trying to connect a Nokia 8110-G4 via ActiveSync. The device comes with
KaiOS (closed source Firefox-OS-Fork). There is not much logging
available (EASDebug is enabled):

>Jul 15 22:15:13 sogod [8500]: (null) env=REMOTE_HOST "OPTIONS
/SOGo/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync HTTP/1.1" 200 0/0 0.060 - - 0

HTTP/1.1" 501 218/13 0.002 - - 0

no further logging. When trying to connect an Z-Push-Account it also
fails, but Z-Push has an option for "loose provisioning" for older
devices (https://wiki.zarafa.com/index.php/Z-Push_Provisioning). When
enabling this option, the Z-Push-Account syncs fine.

Is there any equivalent option (or a workaround) for SOGo available ?

Thanks
Peter

Re: [SOGo] email are deleted from trash after ~7days

2018-06-05 Thread Peter Schiffer
Hi Christian,

thanks for your reply. So the sieve filters (and cron as well) were the
first things I've checked, but there is nothing regarding delete emails
from trash after a week.

My dovecot config can be found here [1]. I've checked all *.sieve files
on mailserver (found with: find / -name \*sieve 2>/dev/null), but
nothing about deletion from trash. I've also checked all sieve tables
in mysql:

MariaDB [somedb]> select * from sieve_after;
Empty set (0.00 sec)

MariaDB [somedb]> select * from sieve_before;
Empty set (0.01 sec)

MariaDB [somedb]> select * from sieve_filters;
Empty set (0.00 sec)

Do you have any idea what else should I check?

Thanks,

peter

Re: [SOGo] email are deleted from trash after ~7days

2018-06-01 Thread Peter Schiffer
Hello,

thanks for your reply. I don't think the deletion is done by cron,
because of these dovecot logs. For every deleted email from trash I can
see this line:

May 29 08:02:17 hostname dovecot: imap(some@mail)<7725>: Debug: imapsieve: mailbox Trash: FLAG event (changed flags:
\Deleted)

And at the end of the imap session, I see:

dovecot-mailcow_1| May 23 12:46:39 hostname dovecot: imap(some@mail
box)<11088>: Logged out in=221 out=30927 deleted=473
expunged=473 trashed=0 hdr_count=0 hdr_bytes=0 body_count=0
body_bytes=0

So the emails from trash are deleted by some client, but Thunderbird
and Evolution I've checked doesn't have any expunge or empty trash on
logout enabled. So there is active-sync by sogo and sogo webmail. In
some sogo web mail sessions I also see requests like this:

nginx-mailcow_1 | someip - - [23/May/2018:12:46:11 +0200] "POST
/SOGo/so/some@mailbox/Mail/0/folderINBOX/expunge HTTP/2.0" 200 58 "http
s://hostname/SOGo/so/some@mailbox/Mail/view" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora;
Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0"
...
sogo-mailcow_1 | May 23 12:46:11 ccec35332334 sogod [43]: someip
"POST /SOGo/so/some@mailbox/Mail/0/folderINBOX/expunge HTTP/1.0" 200
58/0 0.291 - - 0

So it looks like sogo itself is responsible for deletion of at least
part of the missing emails, but so far I wasn't able to find the exact
reason :/

thank you for your reply, but I don't have expire plugin enabled in

What else could be a reason here?

[SOGo] email are deleted from trash after ~7days

2018-05-31 Thread Peter Schiffer
Hi all,

I've noticed recently, that when using sogo web ui, emails from trash
folder are automatically deleted after ~7 days. This wasn't happening
before. I'm running sogo-4.0.0.20180528-1 from SOGo/nightly/4/debian
repo. Version from before was 2 - 3 months older 4.0

In the nginx and sogo logs I see:

nginx-mailcow_1 | someip - - [23/May/2018:12:46:11 +0200] "POST
/SOGo/so/some@mailbox/Mail/0/folderINBOX/expunge HTTP/2.0" 200 58 "http
s://hostname/SOGo/so/some@mailbox/Mail/view" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora;
Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0"
...
sogo-mailcow_1 | May 23 12:46:11 ccec35332334 sogod [43]: someip
"POST /SOGo/so/some@mailbox/Mail/0/folderINBOX/expunge HTTP/1.0" 200
58/0 0.291 - - 0

And then in the dovecot logs:

May 29 08:02:17 hostname dovecot: imap(some@mail)<7725>: Debug: imapsieve: mailbox Trash: FLAG event (changed flags:
\Deleted)
...
dovecot-mailcow_1| May 23 12:46:39 hostname dovecot: imap(some@mail
box)<11088>: Logged out in=221 out=30927 deleted=473
expunged=473 trashed=0 hdr_count=0 hdr_bytes=0 body_count=0
body_bytes=0

I need to turn this off :-) I don't want to delete anything
automatically, but I wasn't able to find anything related in
documentation.

Also I suspect, that clients connected via active-sync are also doing
this, without specific email client configured to do so. I've verified
that the final email clients (Thunderbird, Evolution, Email on Android)
don't have such options enabled (auto empty trash, expunge on logout,
etc).

Sogo configuration can be found here:
https://github.com/pschiffe/mailcow-dockerized/tree/master/data/conf/sogo

Thanks in advance,

peter

Replying to myself:

This was my own misunderstanding, I did not realise that the attribute
TRANSP communicates exactly this information.

So if TRANSP is TRANSPARENT then the time is free. If it is OPAQUE
then it is busy.

[SOGo] About using "Show Time as Free"

2018-01-25 Thread Peter Peltonen
Hi,

When adding an event in Sogo there is the option to set "Show Time as Free"

If I set this for an event I do not see any change in the event color
in the Sogo v2 UI, is this by design or a bug?

Also when looking at the event data, this info is not included:

BEGIN:VCALENDAR
PRODID:-//Inverse inc./SOGo 2.3.23//EN
VERSION:2.0
BEGIN:VTIMEZONE
TZID:Europe/Moscow
X-LIC-LOCATION:Europe/Moscow
BEGIN:STANDARD
TZOFFSETFROM:+0300
TZOFFSETTO:+0300
TZNAME:MSK
DTSTART:19700101T00
END:STANDARD
END:VTIMEZONE
BEGIN:VEVENT
UID:4922-5A69EB00-1-375A0300
SUMMARY:test
CLASS:PUBLIC
CREATED:20180125T143430Z
DTSTAMP:20180125T143430Z
LAST-MODIFIED:20180125T143430Z

DTEND;TZID=Europe/Moscow:20180109T09
TRANSP:TRANSPARENT
END:VEVENT
END:VCALENDAR

I would like to use this free/busy information outside Sogo, but I
guess it is not possible to export it from Sogo events, or am I
missing something here?

Peter

Re: [SOGo] Theming SOGO

2017-09-25 Thread Peter

Hello,

I could change the theme, modifying 3 files:

- Common.js (see AngularJS docs about adding a new theme here)
- theme-default.css
- styles.css

The task was really difficult as css files are not human-produced,
probably one should better use the templates from SOGo sources to create
new css files. The modifications must be done again after every update
of SOGo. For css files - normally I just replace the new ones by my
ones. Javascript file must be changed every time Angular is updated.

...but it works :)

Thank you for this information. It has a value. Unfortunately
because I am using Zentyal as a server UI it automatically generates

So unless someone else pulls a rabbit out of a hat, I will have to
wait until Sogo comes out with a supported measure for instance a
conf.d/mytheme.css option.

Hi,

Sorry for not coming with a solution, I have the same question. I have
checked the FAQ (1), followed the instructions and nothing changed:

mkdir -p ~sogo/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/css/
cp /usr/lib/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/css/theme-default.css
~sogo/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/css/
vi ~sogo/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/css/theme-default.css

mkdir ~sogo/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/js/
cp /usr/lib/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/js/Common.js
~sogo/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/js/
vi ~sogo/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/js/Common.js

It only mentions .wox files, but the color definitions are not
there. If

I edit the original files on their original locations then it obviously
works, but I guess it will not survive an update. Other than that, no
other information anywhere on internet on how to customize at least the
colors. I managed to change the logos by using mod_rewrite on apache,
but the colors are still an issue.

Any hint?

(1)
https://sogo.nu/nc/support/faq/article/how-to-customize-the-html-2.html

Thanks, best regards.

We successfully managed to custom colors using a little JavaScript and a
custom CSS files.

At first, we made a copy of the default CSS
(/usr/lib/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/css/theme-default.css) into a
custom directory
(/usr/lib/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/local/ulh.css) and set some
modifications into it. Then we added a custom JS file which will load
that CSS (/usr/lib/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources/local/ulh.js).
Finally, we added that JS to SOGo configuration file
(/etc/sogo/sogo.conf):

---
SOGoUIAdditionalJSFiles = ("local/ulh.js"); // this is an array, keep
the parenthesis!
---
After restarting SOGo, we do have custom colors loaded at runtime

The JS file is:
---
var ulhCss = "/SOGo.woa/WebServerResources/local/ulh.css";
var head = document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0];
var link = document.createElement('link');

link.rel = 'stylesheet';
link.type = 'text/css';
link.href = ulhCss;
link.media = 'all';
head.appendChild(link);
---

This may not the smartest way of doing color customizations but it's
quite simple and easy ^^

[SOGo] GAL CardDAV persistant

2017-09-05 Thread Peter

Hello,

We have SOGo, installed as iRedMail part, with LDAP backend.

Actually, when we access LDAP GAL using CardDAV, it is just searchable,
we can find users, but we have no permanently stored vcards. It seems to
be 'by design' as LDAP can have millions of records, it's impossible to
synchronize all of them as vcards. The problem is that smartphones
cannot use such address book to show caller's name, even if the calling
number is present in the LDAP directory, presented bysearchable CardDAV.
Is it possible to create a 'subset' of such GAL (defined as an LDAP
query) and publish this subset as a 'classic' CardDAV address book (like
a personal one)? If it's impossible - is there any workaround?

Thanks,

Peter

[SOGo] Sogo doesn't start on Debian jessie

2017-08-10 Thread Peter Lohmann
Hi!

I'm running Sogo on debian jessie and have recently updated it using

deb http://packages.inverse.ca/SOGo/nightly/3/debian/ jessie jessie

in my sources.list.

Interestingly, sogod won't start using /etc/init.d/sogo start

I've (unsuccessfully) tried debugging it and it seems the start-script
exits at

. /lib/lsb/init-functions

There is no sogo.service or sogod.service in /lib/systemd. Shouldn't
there be?

When I manually run

start-stop-daemon -c sogo --start --exec /usr/sbin/sogod --pidfile
/var/run/sogo/sogo.pid -- -WOWorkersCount 3 -WOPidFile
/var/run/sogo/sogo.pid -WOLogFile /var/log/sogo/sogo.log

Sogo works fine.

Kind Regards,

Peter

I've added "Modify" permission to the calendar, using SOGo Web GUI, but it does
not change anything (normally we don't need it for superusers?)
I checked the sources of SOGo, it seems that the user, modifying the
appointment must have SOGoCalendarRole_ComponentModifier role on the calendar.
Please, explain me how should I give this role to my superuser?

Hello,

Thank you, we are on v3.2.7 now.
It seems that the problem is present in some versions of browsers, in
other versions the changes are persistent.
If I reproduce the problem on v3.2.8 with the recent versions of
browsers - I'll report it here again.

Too much log data here, I cannot find the traces of such errors.

They normally are persistent.
Do you get an error message in sogo.log when changing the calendar colour?

[SOGo] Sharing calendars

2017-03-31 Thread Peter TKATCHENKO

Hello,

We are trying to create a procedure of sharing calendars between users
of SOGo, installed with OpenLDAP backend (iRedMail) on Debian Jessie.

The problem is that users cannot access to shared calendars of other
users before an administrator changes the permissions of the shared
calendars.

So actually the procedure should be like follows:
1. User1 shares his calendar with User2.
2. Admin goes to ACLs management and modifies the permissions of
calendar, shared by User1 for User2.

3. User2 subscribes the shared calendar of User1.

This procedure seems to be a little bit hard to put in place, as for
every shared calendar an administrator must reconfigure ACLs.

When I check the documents of SOGo v2 - I see that these ACLs to manage
are available in user's web interface. This is not the case in SOGo v3,
the end user, sharing his calendar, has no options to modify the
permissions. Is it a bug of Web interface v3? Is it possible to change
the default permissions for any shared calendar (for example, from
'Nothing' to 'Read')? Is there another way to simplify the sharing of
calendars?

Hope to be clear in my questions.

Best regards,
Peter

[SOGo] Alias login & Sieve script

2017-02-03 Thread Peter

Hello,

I have two questions about SOGo (installed with OpenLDAP as users storage).

1. I'm using bindFields to permit my users to login with their secondary
addresses (name.surn...@domain.com and n.surn...@domain.com - the both).
The problem - when a user opens a session with an alias - anyway his
principal mail address is used during new message composing. I would
like to see his alias, used for login, in 'From' field of the new
message or at least that he could choose an address from list. Is it
possible?

2. Sometimes I receive the following error from cron, executing
/usr/sbin/sogo-tool update-autoreply -p /etc/sogo/sieve.cred:

Re: [SOGo] CSS files - 2

2017-01-10 Thread Peter

Hi, To

Thanks for your answer.
I am sure that Angular does nothing with these files as they are
released/pushed with another code.

But I am sure that there is a tool which generates these files.

If I see theme-default.css, there is one interesting line:

md-radio-group.md-default-theme .md-checked.md-primary .md-ink-ripple,
md-radio-group .md-checked.md-primary
.md-ink-ripple{color:'{{warn-color-0.26}}'}

So, this is an auto-generated file, and 'warn-color-0.26' is defined
elsewhere normally, but it was forgotten, compiling the release I'm using...

I see that these css files are not compiled in any way.
You can even review today's commit which was done directly in *.css files.
Having said that I assume that theme modification requires
modification of those css files.
As you stated - there is also Common.js and palettes defined in that
file. Which require separate modification. I assume that this file is
used for inline css injection by angular engine.
When it comes to the tool which I use - nothing more than Firefox
built in "Inspect element" function, which is very helpful in all that
css-related work.

You can set

With that they will not be synchronized via cardDAV.
You only can search within them.

We use that and have 18000+ accounts in it.

[SOGo] Synchronisation of LDAP addressbooks

2016-06-22 Thread Peter

Hello,

We are using Sogo as a part of iRedMail install, based on OpenLDAP.
We have three different LDAP addressbooks configured in Sogo (default
GAL and two 'custom' LDAP queries).
Three addressbooks are visible in Sogo Web interface, we can search
contacts inside and it works well.
Our problem is that one of these addressbooks is very huge (10+
records), so we don't want to share it on CardDAV (neither on
ActiveSync). Remote users should only access it using LDAPS direct
queries from their mail clients or using Web interface of Sogo. Is there
any way to disable CardDAV/ActiveSync sharing of LDAP addressbook?

Best regards,
Peter TKATCHENKO

Actually, interesting point - is this a feature request or a bug?

The calendar reminder is actually missing data, and not just the
time/date. Regardless of where the information is included, /all/ the
event information should be in the calendar, especially as the person
receiving the email may not have access to the calendar event.

Having chewed over my last reply in the thread and reading Emilio's

serious omission.

the event has a description this is included as the message body.

Shouldn't the reminder include other information, I.E. time and date of
the event, possibly a list of other attendees and location etc?

As event reminders can be set for an arbitrary time in relation to the
actual event, the reminders need to contain the time and date of the
event at the very least, preferably somewhere on the subject line (I
suggest the start!).

That is normal behaviour.
As you set those reminders, it is assumed, you remind yourself at a
reasonable time :-)

You could add an enhancement request at http://www.sogo.nu/bugs if you
need date and time in the email reminder.

I personally don't like the idea of including date and time in the
subject, as it is getting really long with that.

Hey Christian,

I must admit I don't like the idea of email reminders at all (which is
why I've only recently had trouble with it - I'd left them turned off
but a few users specifically requested it). As if there isn't enough
noise going across email servers already.

That said, it's a case of what people are used to and what they expect.
The assumption that you have set the reminder yourself and therefore
know what it's about is not a valid assumption (more below).

In this case, it's mainly to do with users that don't really use
calendar included as invitees to events in someone else's calendar. I've
also got a subset of users using Web UI to set up a bunch of repeating
events (on odd cycles, like every 15 dayts) that are actually in truth
task reminders. They have a bunch of invitees to remind various people
to do various things at various times. Most use Thunderbird but none use
Lightning as, reminders aside, they don't use calendar functions.
Further, the emails feed into client devices that have IMAP but no
calendar capability (no EAS/dav etc.). In that case, the date/time is
essential information.

As to whether or not it's on the subject line I'm personally ambivalent,
but I'm getting the "it's what google calendar does" (insert other
calendar system at whim) type comments. Although I'd never use it I can
see the advantage of this - a time/date pattern stands out in an inbox
full of mail, especially in an inbox with a lot of event reminders that
aren't necessarily date sequential.

Perhaps that could be configurable? I'll put in the enhancement request.

It's amazing the way in which people come up with using things.....

Hi,

I put in a credentials file and email is now sent. I'm kind of unhappy
about having the credentials on the filesystem but hey. The mail server
will allow delivery to local addresses with no credentials (as any
server accepting inbound mail would) so I'm surprised it's necessary.

Certainly the documentation suggests that it's not required - "If your
mail server requires use of SMTP AUTH" - mine doesn't require it, so why
do I need to provide credentials?

Auth isn't required by the SMTP server that SOGo is connecting to; the

[SOGo] 3.0.2 nightly email reminders broken

2016-04-09 Thread Peter B

Hi all,

Ubuntu 14.04, SOGo nightlies (3.0.2.20160409-1 at time of writing). Live
server with working email. SOGo otherwise fully working.

I have SOGoEnableEMailAlarms set to yes in sogo.conf,
OCSEMailAlarmsFolderURL correctly configured and a cron entry for the
sogo user to run sogo-ealarms-notify.

Events with email reminders set correctly appear in
sogo_sogo_alarms_folder in the database, and disappear at the right
time. However, no emails.

Performing strace on sogo-ealarms-notify when it's called by cron
reveals that the process is indeed reading the alarms folder in the
database and reading the associated event from the database.

sogo-ealarms-notify then opens a connection to the SMTP server, and I
see the following in strace:

connect(7, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(25),

(hostnames and IPs changed to protect a live server)

As you can see, sogo-ealarms-notify is connecting, sending EHLO, then
QUITting without attempting to send any email. The postfix log (with
debug) confirms this.

sogo-ealarms-notify appears to do this (connect/ehlo/quit) for every
invitee in the event. An event with a single invitee (or none, so just
the organiser) has one connection in strace. An event with multiple
invitees causes sogo-ealarms-notify to make the same number of
connections as there are invitees. However, as no data is ever sent I
can't associate connections to invitee addresses - I'm making
assumptions therefore.

Anyone any suggestions? Anyone got it working on 3.0.2 or 3.0.2 nightlies?

In my opinion this is quite harsh - you get something for free and
you're complaining about the documentation ? There are lot's other
projects out there with much worse (or no) documentation.

I don't think the documentation is a mess. I think it's quite straight
forward and clear. And there are lot's of other tutorials how to set up
SOGo and you can always ask here on the list - very helpful guys here.

Of course they want customers to sell support - it's how they pay their
lives. Or do you work for nothing ?

By the way:
I would reconsider the use of openchange as it seems stopped for now
(see other thread here on the list
https://lists.inverse.ca/sogo/arc/users/2016-03/msg00299.html). Starting
a new system depending on an (at least it sounds to me) abandoned
project - I wouldn't do that, but that's my opinion.

I guess this will be in the nightlies - I´m hoping so! Got a user that
needs it.

I´ve been living on nightlies since 3.0.1 and they´re great, had to roll

The folks working on SOGo are fantastic, can´t remember I saw such

Interesting. Below the pencil, we have a clickeable item called "new
mail account".

No idea why you don't have it. I guess the whole tab "imap accounts"
would not appear, if you hadn't successfully enabled the option in
sogo.conf.

Strange.

This seems like normal behaviour, or at least it appears that the tab is
not linked to the MailAux setting but something else.

I also had the "IMAP Accounts" tab even though "MailAux" was set to "No"
and couldn't use it for anything other than viewing the account details
of the IMAP account in use. It wasn't until I set it to MailAux to "Yes"
that I got the "New Mail Account" link.

Truthfully, I can't say for certain whether or not the tab ever /wasn't
/there.

I have it enabled and as you can see, I have an extra account in there

Try the reload button - a lot of the sogo WebUI is cached by the browser
(often have to hit reload between nightlies to get the latest JS for
example). If that doesn't work try the following:

/etc/init.d/sogo stop
pkill -9 sogo
/etc/init.d/memcached stop
/etc/init.d/memcached start
/etc/init.d/sogo start

I can't remember what specifically prompted me to start doing this but I
now do this after every config change. I found that in some instances
not all SOGo process stopped completely (hence the pkill) and that
sometimes certain things were cached between restarts.

I had similar problems on and off when first setting up SOGo + LDAP,

To me the important error in your email is:

127.000.000.001.2-127.000.000.001.58766:
{"LDAPPasswordPolicyError": 65535}

This means that SOGo is trying to authenticate against LDAP but failing,
but the failure doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the password.

You need to check the configuration for the LDAP connection in the
SOGoUserSources bit of sogo.conf. If all that looks ok to you, try setting:

LDAPDebugEnabled = YES;

in sogo.conf to help you find out exactly what's going on. This will log
to sogo.log more detail about the conversation between SOGo and LDAP and
will show you searches performed and bind attempts.

If you need more help, post your sogo.conf and the relevant entries from
sogo.log with LDAPDebugEnabled turned on - that'll help us work out
what's going on!

[SOGo] is v3 now default ?

2016-03-05 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

Running Debian Stable with SOGo 2.3.8

ii sogo:amd64 2.3.8-1
amd64a modern and scalable groupware

just made an apt-get update / apt-get upgrade and it seems that SOGo v3
is ready to install, but I've never changed my sources to v3. Is that
intended or a "bug" ?

The following packages will be upgraded:
 libsbjson2.3 libsope-appserver4.9 libsope-core4.9 libsope-gdl1-4.9
libsope-ldap4.9 libsope-mime4.9 libsope-xml4.9 sogo sogo-activesync
 sope4.9-gdl1-mysql sope4.9-libxmlsaxdriver

Regards
Peter

Dear All,

is it possible to import contacts and calendars from OpenXchange in SOGo?

Hi Chris,

Admittedly it's been a while since I did anything with OX but the last
migration I handled we exported everything to vcard/vcal files and then
imported into the new environment.

Generally when doing this I either script it if it's for a lot of users,
or make it each users' responsibility to export from the old and import
to the new.

If you're scripting you might find this script:

http://oxpedia.org/wiki/index.php?title=Export_ical/vcard

and this thread:

https://lists.inverse.ca/sogo/arc/users/2015-01/msg00316.html

useful though they're by no means the only potential solutions out there!

Observation more than anything else - got frustrated users who keep missing the "Save"
icon in prefs in the Web UI because they think they've already saved by clicking "save"
in whatever preferences dialog they've used.

Example, filters (sieve editing). If you add/edit a filter, you get a dialog with a "save" button, but after
clicking "save" in the dialog you must also click the "save" icon in the top-right corner. It's
somewhat counter-intuitive, and there's no warning if you're about to lose settings you've just changed (i.e. a popup
along the lines of "exit this screen without saving changes?").

I understand the reasons behind this, but even knowing full well how it works
it's caught me out a couple of times. Users really just don't get it.

Initially I get user calls along the lines of "I changed this or that but it still doesn't work". Then I tell
them to check the preference they changed - did it save it? "Oh, it's back how it was before I changed it..!"
Having explained to frustrated users I generally get the response "but why do I have to click save twice?" or
"but I already clicked save, why didn't it save it then?". Even having explained it to them they make the
same mistake again a couple of days later..

Admittedly it's a small user sample but maybe there should be at least an "exit without
saving?" style dialog or perhaps simply save-as-you-go (feels like there's a general move to
"save as you go" on Android - no save button anywhere, perhaps that's why my users are
confused!).

I agree. In the meantime, I modified the dialogs in the preferences module so it doesn't mention
"Save" but simply "OK".

Francis

Thanks Francis, hopefully that will help until there's a better
solution! Had an interesting comment for a user - "why doesn't the
button change colour if I need to save?" Don't know where that one came
from (i.e. where she might have seen it done) but it might be an idea
for the interface generally... highlight the button somehow if changes
are pending save.

Re: [SOGo] Feature request: add selected to list in Address Book

Done, thanks Christian.

A feature request: in an address book it would be great to add a "Create
list/Add to existing" button/menu option to the selection bar for
selected addresses in the address book list.

This would greatly simplify creating large groups (20+ members),
especially on mobile devices where typing is a pita.

Thoughts?

Add it as Feature request at http://www.sogo.nu/bugs

Kind regards,
