First off, thank you to everyone who has helped a newbie on my 69 yenko
chevelle clone.
first a recap of what I have. I have a 454 77 truck engine, with an M21
Muncie 4 speed. My speedo is not working. I replaced the plastic white
gear and it worked for a minute or two and then
I have a 64 El Camino with a Muncie 4 speed, M 21. Just had it
rebuilt at Cottsman. Was recommended to me. After
getting the car back from rebuilt transmission, my speedo does not work.
I replaced the cable, and still nothing. I see the old cable
worked ok, once I removed it.

try checking the shifter shaft seal, they tend to do this-

least 1.5-2quarts. I was under the car in October/November and
didnt notice anything
Check the rear seal. I had one parked and the top part of the seal dried out
from sitting. Eventually, capillary action allowed fluid to escape.

Walked out this morning and the batter registered 12.4 but it fired right
up.
Firewall bulkhead connector is a good candidate. There is a small (5/16 or 3/8) bolt
that goes thru ther middle, tightening it to the fuse block. Remove that bolt
visually check the male connectors for wear and the female connectors for being spread.

goes to the junction block mounted to the radiator support. This wire is a
fusible link, made to blow if there is a problem in the charging

I'm not sure, but I know that '66's had them. It's a cost-cutting deal,
the fuse links were cheaper than a fuse fuse holder, were easier to
assemble (since they're made to the harness), and less prone to damage in

I would pull and check those connections. Had the same problem on my
'64 2 years ago and was
looking for a thermal wire around the starter connections, but it was
one of the main wires
Craigers and air shocks always did the trick for me

month, third week. 01-12 are the months, A,B,C,D are

When both marks are pointing at
each other, that is #6 at TDC.
When both marks are pointing
straight up, that is #1 at TDC.

best thing to do is pull a seat and measure it. Then go out to a wrecking yard or two and find something you like. I doubt if you find anything late model that will be a direct bolt in.
