From: Ouellette,
The switch that this message is coming from has a non-trunk
port on port 0/1. The other end of this connection is connected
to a dot1q trunk, which results in a trunk/port mismatch between
the switches. The port is being shut down by spanning tree due to
port 0/1 receiving dot1Q bpdu's, while
Its going to blocking mode due to the STP seeing an
inconsistant port on the switch's 0/1 port. Change it
to a dot1q trunk and the inconsistant port problem should
go away. Sorry about our lack of info on the site...

Sound like fastethernet port 0/1 is not configure as trunk but it is
connected to a trunk port. Isolate the switch from your network
(disconnect), use tools that you have such as console to verify the port
setup on currnet network and the switch you plug in.

I am having and strange (at least for me) behavior over here.
I have an ATM interface working perfectly. Using the this configuration:
interface ATM5/0/0
no ip address
no ip route-cache distributed
atm scrambling cell-payload
atm uni-version 3.1
no atm ilmi-keepalive
You need to set the vlan interface on the router
for interface vlan 23
The when the trunk port from the router connects to
the first switch (Y), it will carry the data for vlan 1 and 23.
It looks like all the dot1q trunks are set to carry all vlans
and working. The vlan interface on the
A problem I have come across on the 3500XL switches and dot1q trunking is
when the XL switch expected the packets on the native VLAN to be untagged
and the device on the other end of the trunk expects the packets to be

Dear listers,
I am frustrated. I had this working perfectly, then my isp decided to

Does anyone know where or how to obtain a current Cisco CD Rom documentation

This post gives me a good excuse to break open the most recent doc CD that I
have - dated October 2001.
this one contains the 12.2 documentation. It is in the new format, with the
drop down menus.
The search engine is still crap, and your best bet is to continue to
practice drilling down
There are a lot of errors in this exam. Some of it is just being plain
wrong, more of it is data-entry type errors.
The author has always written me back when I notify him of an error; and
this has been, unfortunately, quite often. Also,
one thing I do not like at all is the questions that have
