Today I found four juvenile type scoters at DeWeese Reservoir. I watched them for a while and three of them eventually showed white wing patches when they preened. The third was very similar to the other three but never showed a white patch. It didn't look much like a Surf Scoter either.

This morning I saw a stunning male Summer Tanager in a cottonwood tree at near the eastern end of the Arkansas Riverwalk in Canon City. Also, many Western Tanagers were out and about along the riverwalk. The riverwalk was teeming with Yellow-rumped Warblers this morning. I counted over 10

I spent today birding in Custer Co. and had my first multiple warbler species day (six) of the year. The highlight was a KENTUCKY WARBLER found in the willow thicket below the dam at DeWeese Res. This thicket is almost impenetrable but I was able to see birds moving around in it by looking
