Good Evening,    QSB needs to have a metric associated with it.  Today it was slow and covered about 4 S units.  On some ops it was as deep but there was less variation.  The fluctuations were never fast enough to cut up characters so copy was easy enough.  On twenty meters reports were S6 at

Good Evening,   It was cool and sunny this week, perfect for splitting wood and marking the last property line.  Now it is foggy, wet, and cool. All that firewood makes a cozy fire.  The loggers have moved in some heavy equipment with more due on Monday.  For the next month I won't need to se

Good Evening,   QSB was more intense this week.  S1 to S7 reports were common. There were also many contesters passing through.  I was able to find open frequencies though and held them, more or less, for each net.  Mostly mild weather with one report of snow.  From what I have read the fires

Good Evening,    Remember the time change this week.  Both nets will start an hour earlier if you use your local time as a reference.  But if you use UTC to reckon time there is no change.  I tried this last year and it better fit the propagation than did the previous method where the local ti

Good Evening,    QSB was very slow and not very deep; a little faster on forty meters.  Both bands were quiet, so quiet it wasn't easy to find anyone.    The smoke and fires are creating lots of problems in California.  Hopefully the recent cold front will reach them and slow the winds.

Good Evening,    Both bands were fairly quiet with little QSB.  It was nice to hear about sunshine when I was sitting in dense fog.  By the way I checked my stereo and found I had heard the CW signal when I was listening to 910 AM.  910 and 1817 kHz are related.  Now to check K7RAT's propagati

Good Evening,    I was listening to the ALCS game 6 on 750 AM.  It was loud but I kept hearing tones.  I thought I was imagining CW from the noise.  It wasn't repeated often enough to catch more than a character or two once or twice an inning.  Then in the 4th I got K7??T.  I put that into ht

Good Evening,    Conditions are holding at less than desirable.  QSB was less which normally means the sun is quiet.  The lack of signal strength enhanced that assessment.  Twenty meters was shorter this week.  Normally California is too close.  But Texas and Nevada on forty meters was a good

Good Evening,    A cool week let me process more wood.  Four truck loads and I am only half done.  The woodpeckers enjoy when I peel off the outer layer of bark.  They find all sorts of tasty things to eat. A hungry gray jay found its way into the house and tried all of the windows to get back
