checkout www.mandrakeuser.org has a howto specifically made for mdk. also, mdk 7.2 should have set this up for you automatigically with it's kudzu (new h/w config on startup) if ya screwed it up, you could disable teh ide port in bios and restart, allow it to remove the config, then restart a

yea...2 different ide channels should show about a max possible of ~33mb/sec (max bus on pci is around ~66mb/sec...think this is correct...jus' pulling numbers out of my butt herelol) on bootup, does it state what the drives transfer speeds are? mine says something like ~'hdds=33mb/sec'
