Interferon alpha, the one that is available in the U.S., is something that you give at home, orally (in a syringe).  Your vet does not administer it. There are different protocols. Most people do 1 ml a day for seven days, then seven days off, then repeat. Some people, myself included, do 1

It is true that I don't think I would give a lot of dex long-term. But  I have seen it help short-term, like giving one or two dex shots and then just continuing with the pred-- the oncologist started simon off with one dex shot and then did pred for a while, e.g.  And i have seen it help fo

Yes. Combo shots of dex and depo.  Depo is long-term and sort of instead of pred, can last about a month. I am not sure I would even ask about Depo though at this point.  If he is improving on low doses of pred I think I would try the higher doses. The thing about Depo is that it stays in the sy

I did respond to one of the emails about her.  She was better by the next afternoon, so it was the Periactin. However, all that other food she ate after refusing her turkey eventually gave her diarrhea again, which is frustrating.  I actually gave her a pred this morning (please don't tell

I did try Lyprinol, and that is the night that she started throwing up every meal, which she only got over through fasting.  I have no idea if it was the lyprinol or not, and kind of think it wasn't, but am not willing to find out.   I do intend to go to 2.5 mg either tomorrow or the next da

Thanks, Nina. But of course she threw up the turkey that she ate so voraciously last night, so back to the drawing board!  I gave her turkey baby food this morning and am waiting to see how she does on it.  The pred makes her voracious, and she thinks it is very mean of me to give it to her

Wendy, I am exactly the same way.  Thank God you did NOT take Stretch for further testing, as I probably would have given my own paranoias-- besides the money, it would have put her through a lot of unnecessary stress while she was already sick.  I don't think you are silly at all for having

Good ideas, Nina. Will I have the energy to implement them? That remains to be seen.   I might go buy a tray and try that, though, since that seems like the most promising idea. Maybe I will carry her bowl up to her on it with a vase with a flower in it, so she can feel like a real princess.
