As in any pocket of life, genealogy has a culture and a vocabulary. You may not like the Mills sourcing, and certainly have no requirement to use it. Having said that, I think you may be leading others astray when you trivialize it. It is, at present, the industry standard, in the U.S. at least.

Hi Jenny, This isn't a bug - it's the way you entered it on the Entry screens - the Individual screen and the Edit tab in the Name List. How else would you know how the surname is actually entered? There is no possibility for confusion on these screens as the Surname is in a Surname box.
