SAR DELAY

Anyone know the delay on a packet going through a SAR.  I am experiencing a
delay of 80 ms on a 155 pipe end to end.  No errors or anything which would
normally suggest delay.  The only major delay item is the SAR, hence the
question.  This ping packet is a normal packet size.

Quick and easy way to find out if the packet is reaching each segment is
.

On each interface i.e. interface where user is, interface where DHCP server
is do...

ip accounting output-packets or just plain old ip accounting.

you should then do show ip account.

This should show you the ip address 255.255.255.255 being helpered to
whatever your address is.  At this point take a note of the mac address of
the requester.  

See if it is coming through to your server.

Now..If it is then the cisco devices are working properly, back to the
drawing board.

If it isn't getting to the server then come back.  I have encountered a few
gotchas doing this before.

Everything I've found on Cisco tells me that multiple helper addresses are
supported and I would have to assume that it's forwarding the packet to both
helper address and is taking the response from the first machine to respond.
Any chance you can define part of the scope on each server?  This would
ultimately solve the problem.  Without a sniffer on both segments it's going
to be difficult to tell exactly what's happening unless someone has already
worked with this and has more input.

When using dialer watch you should still configure your isdn line as normal.
If you do not specify interesting traffic then the isdn line wont come up.

The problem occurs if he creates a loop i.e. you have a main switch a cable
from the main switch goes to user A.  User A decides to connect a hub and a
few terminals - Outcome fine.  User B then says hey user A can you access
those terminals and the main network.  User A says yeah how do you want to
connect?  User A says yes and inadvertently patches his own pc and the
original connection that was from him to the main switch outcome is now main
switch has 2 connections to the minihub.  NOW spanning tree goes oh my and
recalculates - outcome 30 second outage for everyone on that vlan.  Then the
users go home, switch off their kit and go to the pub.  
Next day. The mini hub is switched back on - because portfast is enabled
the ports go whoosh straight into forwarding mode - result - spanning tree
goes oh my!! and recalculates.  

Outcome -- You and every other support member run about like loonies
trying to find this fault which occurs only when the user decides to switch
on his equipment.

Let me see if I got this correct.  If he only connects one mini-hub or 
mini-switch it is OK to have portfast on on the main switch.  If he then 
connects another mini-hub or mini-switch onto the first mini-hub or 
mini-switch than there will be a problem.  But when you connect 2 mini-hubs 
aren't you just extending the amount of ports and in a sense there is only 
one virtual mini-hub?

I am afraid that's where you are slightly of topic.  CLNS and ISIS do go
hand in hand.  Whether you are only routing IP with ISIS or not CLNS routing
still occurs.  Whilst in the lab you will not have to implement Clns IF ISIS
goes belly up you might have to debug CLNS packets to find out what is
happening.  SO if I were you I would know CLNS as well.

I found that the ciscopress CID book was all I needed to use to study to
pass this one.  Of course, you will want to download the exam objectives on
this test as well as any other cisco test where it is available.

Your frustration on this test though is understandable.  From the questions
on products that have been EOL for a long time to the "hmmm, i know that
these two answers are both right, but which is the right CISCO answer"
problem that exists on almost every Cisco test.

Maybe soon Cisco will start to let the course developers and product
managers help develop tests that make sense.  Maybe they do already but it
is hard to believe that anyone except a test writer with the official course
material currently just plucks things out and says, "wow that looks like it
would be a good question".

Maybe they will even start to use the "feedback" feature that is on all the
tests now.  I just picture them sitting around on a Friday night tilting
back a few beers saying, "hey check this comment out, don't they know we
wrote this test so it must be right?"

Maybe pigs will fly someday...

OSPF and frame relay issues

I am at the moment ploughing through a lab which for the life of me I can't
get it to work. I'm going mad!!!.  Scenario is this

There is of course a frame relay cloud making these connections.
Connections are as above i.e.

Router4 has a pvc to Router3, Router5 has a pvc to Router3 and Router6 has a
pvc to Router3. 

Conditions are ---  Router3 uses 1 sub interface.  No more sub interfaces
allowed on any router.  All routers share the 10.10.X.X domain. All routers
are in area 0.  Only one pvc can be used on Routers 4,5&6 i.e. only to
router3.  You cannot use the command IP OSPF NETWORK nor can you use
multiple frame relay map statements.

SO the first thing that sprung to my mind is make router3 the DR and form
manual neighbor relationships.  WRONG.  this doesn't work.  Router3 can ping
everything, All other routers can only ping router3.

Every router has full routing tables of the full network.  PING end to end
is a complete no no.

Any help?

OSPF and frame relay issues

Let me thank Greg Bensimon and Nigel Taylor for their help in identifying
what the annoyance was.  The issue involved is actually policy routing
(YUCK).  I had to apply a route map with the appropriate networks hosts and
set the next hop to the hub router.  These configurations were done on the
spoke routers of the frame relay cloud.  I then applied the policy to the
router rather than to a specific interface i.e. ip local policy route-map
blah.  I can now ping every interface (THANK YOU).  This lab was allocated 4
hours... I took around 14 to do this.  I could have done it in half an hour
if I were aloud to use IP OSPF NETWORK command or indeed frame relay maps.

Again thanks to everyone else who helped out and I can't remember your names
(sorry!).

Sunday Follies

Here is a little poser I have set myself, sometimes I reckon it can be done
and other times I think it can't.

1 router only.  1 ethernet interface is bridging only i.e. bridge group 1
protocol ieee.  It has a whole bunch of clients on it.  The other interface
has a server on it which talks ISIS.  This ethernet interface is up and
running ISIS routing protocol.  The router and server have established a
layer 1 adjacency.

The question is this... Will the clients see the server?  How can this be
done?  

P.s.  The clients talk clns.

ip subnet zero is required when you want to use subnet zero i.e. 192.168.0.1
with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 is the zero subnet and can only be used
when you have ip subnet zero command.  ip classless is another for routing,
with this if a packet comes in for a destination which is not exactly known
then it is dropped without the command ip classless on.  With it on the same
packet will go to the "nearest matching route".

ISIS / IRB and BVI interfaces

Hello,

a little while ago robert devito posted a problem very similar to the one
that I am now experiencing.  At the time I tried to help to fix his problem
but I am unsure if Robert got a solution from anyone.  I said at the time
that he was mad to try it but unfortunately now I have to do it for "live"
work.  For those of you who never read Roberts initial problem it is very
similar to the one below. please help if you can.


1 router.  1 interface is bridged with clns clients on it.  the other
interface is routed with a isis server.  

The solution should be as easy as enabling IRB and to route clns.  Problem.

ISIS tries in vain to establish adjacencies with these clients.  It

My hunch (and its a scary one),  What type of interface is a BVI?  We all

broadcast network and I reckon this is why no adjacencies will ever form
over this interface. does this sound right?

ANY HELP ON THIS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.  THIS IS A NIGHTMARE OF A
PROBLEM.

ok, not the exact situation but similar.

We built a circuit that bridges ATM with a LAN extension service.

This required a BVI on the core router.  The far end was just another
Ethernet router for all intents and purposes.

Now, I haven't yet touched ISIS or clns - but when we first tried to get
OSPF working across the link it would not form an adjacency.  Show ip ospf
neigh revealed EXSTART/DR on the remote router.

On the core router a bridge-group is defined and the ATM sub-interfaced
placed into it.

This immediately set the mtu for the BVI to 4470 bytes - of course we didn't
know that at the time!

On the remote router we observed "debug ip ospf adj" and one of the errors
we saw was words to the effect: "Nbr x.x.x.x has larger interface MTU"

Checked everything, saw the BVI at 4470 and changed it with the command "mtu
1500".

Pop! OSPF formed its adjacency and everything works fine.

Perhaps this is something to look into for your situation.

I would say yes.  All he needs is a policy which could say for example... if
you try to go to microsoft go through 1 ISP and any other site through the
other ISP.
In all - BGP can do whatever you want it to do - whatever the companies
policy is.

CCIE Written Passed ---- JUST!

Hi,

I have just received the beautiful news that I have passed the CCIE Written.
At the moment I am still typing with my hands trembling from the experience.
For those of you who have still to sit this exam good luck.  I personally
didn't enjoy the experience as from question 50 I thought I had failed.  As
for exam questions I can hardly remember any BUT what I will say is that you
do not get told how many answers there are to the questions i.e. choose all
that apply between 1 and 8 answers.  On most of these questions (around 30)
I found that I always had a maybe correct, so I was faced with do I check it
or Not.

The subject headings for my exam were :-

Cisco Device Operation
Networking Theory
Bridging and LAN Switching
TCP/IP
IP routing protocols
Desktop Protocols
Performance management
WAN
LAN
Security
Multiservice

For me the areas that I thought I was strong in i.e. TCPIP, Cisco device
operation were the worst (except the security questions 33% in that field).
I scored 50% in TCPIP (doh!) and 50 % in Cisco device operation.  You really
have to know your bridging if you don't, I reckon you wont pass.

The total I got was 70%  the pass mark was 70% -- what springs to mind
is I am one lucky person.  But hell, it still says PASS.

I am now sitting the design written in two days (I must be MAD!),  will let
you know how that goes but after this experience I am not looking forward to
it.

CCIE Design Written

Well, well, well.

With no studying for this exam the outcome was inevitable.  I am not to
bothered as Wednesdays pass eludes all.
Anyway for those people looking to sit this written exam here is the break
down.

There are no type ins.  I have read Advanced Ip Network Design, Jeff Doyles
Bible, Network Design Case Studies CCIE press.  I honestly don't believe
that half of these questions were in these books.  Although with no study I
could easily be proved wrong here.  Anyway again this is a fair but tough
test.  There is no hint at how many answers are correct.

I am not sure if this will cause the symptoms which you are experiencing but
it will not help.  You should turn on port fast.  This will stop spanning
tree algorithm being computed every time someone turns on a pc.

i have installed a cisco 3524 xl en switch, i am facing a weird kind of =

can any body figure it out what is the problem,
is something wrong with cabling,switch or NIC.

and the correct cables OR you can get RJ45 to token ring converters and

As a rule of thumb Frank, turn off all and everything that is auto sensing
or auto anything.  The best way to do anything is to manually get it right.
There is a document on the cisco website, at the moment I do not have access
to it, which describes the reasons for the errors and auto sensing
nightmares.

You will fins when you manually set the cards then most if not all of your
errors will disappear.

sure that both of the ports are manually set to 100 meg full duplex.  I 
believe your 5000 cat is auto negotiating and this is your trouble.  do set 
port speed ?/? 100 then set port duplex ?/? full.  ? being the port on the 
catalyst.

  want to know why i'm getting this in my syslog on my 2912 whose port4 is connected by fiber to a 5500. I do know that

most obscure exam you will probably sit to date.  Make sure you study hard
and give this exam more respect than any of the CCNP exams.  Good luck.

Ill try a shot in the dark (the most commonest faults).  Did you place your
clock rate on the wrong router?  You have to put the clock rate on the DCE
end of the cable.  You can check this by doing show controllers or indeed
just reading the cable ends.

CCIE design

Hi people,

I have became totally insane and have booked myself on the CCIE design
written exam on the 27th October. Why?  I have no idea.  Anyhow do any of
you have any ideas, tips on what to expect in this exam.  I have of course
downloaded the Cisco exam list and have read most of the books, although
still some areas which need sorting out (Voice and SNA).  Is this exam
written in the same fashion as the CID (if so I think a rope might come in
handy).  Any help / insight would be appreciated.  I am becoming
increasingly more nervous as each day passes.  The thought of the unknown
being the worst thing.

I passed the CCIE - Routing and switching qualification exam today.
It's a pretty hard test.  I got CCNP v1.0 back in June and CCNP security
three weeks ago.  I thought that I was ready for the CCIE written after
I got CCNP.  It turns out that there is a big gap between the two.
Regarding preparation for CCIE written, the most difficult part is
finding the information and putting all the pieces together because
there is no single book that covers all the topics of the test.

I would like to thank every body in this group, especially those who
answered my questions.

Any way, it's over and the real challenge starts now.

See if this helps.

To get the Cisco documentation to work under Windows 2000:

- Run regedit

- Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/IE4/Setup/Path

- Change the value from "%programfiles%\Internet Explorer" to the location
where IE is installed on your system, for example "C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer".

- Install the Documentation CD (I only install the web publisher component
and install the rest from newer versions).

Should be good to go...

Well, I just deleted "plugins" directory which is under the Cisco CD
installation dir, and all its subdirs.
I know several people who did it and it works fine!

When you plug in your other port the port will go into listening, learning
states.  In lamens terms the port sends out a frame and if it hears it back

Does STP only stop loops when the router boots?  If I am building a loop
network, and then I boot up the final router with only one interface
plugged in (so it is not yet a loop), and then plug in the other interface
after the fact, what will happen?  Will the other interface start in

I would study most topics relating to remote access networks!!  

Just kidding!  I read the Cisco press book (Building Cisco remote access
networks) and purchased a Boson exam and then cruised this exam.  Most
people (including myself) tend to find this is the easiest exam of the 4.
But that's not to say that study will be required to pass it.

The answer is in the question.  They say an 11 bit SUBNET MASK.  So the
natural mask is as you say class B which = 255.255.0.0 hence you then have
an eleven bit SUBNET mask.  Which is 255.255.255.224 as you say.  Tricky
questions put in there to catch you out.

No, 2 router ports cannot be on the same subnet.  You 
can, however, setup HSRP (Hot-Standby Router Protocol), which will give you 
the redundancy you need.  This requires 2 routers but gives you 
complete router redundancy and not just port/link redundancy.  Search 
for HSRP on www.cisco.com.

It is entirely up to you as to what group number you choose.  Logic tends to
say you should use the same numbers so that fault finding and general logic
is easy to follow.  But at the end of the day you could have group number 1
within vlan 12 if you wished.

First a question.  Have there been any BERT tests end to end (NID to frame
switch interface)?  If so, was an all zero's test done?

Very simply, I suspect that one of the circuit's repeaters is misconfigured
ESF, AMI.  Everything works fine until the 1's density isn't high enough to
keep zero suppression from kicking in.  Then one of the bits is being set to
1, causing the CRC.

Why would telnet show a problem?  Easy, IP packets are 64 bytes minimum.
Telnet sends a packet for each character, the rest of the data block has to
be padded with something.  Some telnet clients padd with zeros, hence the
CRC errors when zero suppression kicks in when these packets traverse the
link.  Other telnet clients pad with all 1's or ctrl-Z or ctrl-D, and won't
cause the zero suppression, therefore no CRC's.

There's only two ways out of this, the carrier tracks down the misconfigured
repeater, or you have them reconfigure for 56K channels.

Let me know if I'm right and about that job.  :))

No there are no scenario questions and I have been told that the CID will
help towards the CCIE.  IF not in context but in the way the paper is
written.  I presume you are looking to sit this exam!  If so, good luck,
study hard, respect the exam (it was the hardest exam I have sat so far),
READ the question, READ the question, READ the question eventually you will
hopefully realise what is being asked.

have?  How much time and effort are you prepared to put into the CCNP?

If you prepare yourself correctly then it is achievable in as short or as
long a period as you determine.

I have read on this list some people have done it in a matter of weeks, one
person done it in one day!

There is no set in stone answer I'm afraid.

The best I can do is the explanation I have in front of me.  Which is for
example,

If you have a failed upgrade of Flash then the router will most of the time
boot to the Router(boot)> command.  If it goes to the ROMMON mode then the
router is not looking for a boot image.  At the router(boot)> command the
router has boot up from a scaled-back version of Cisco IOS.  This will allow
easier upgrading of the failed attempt i.e. you can still use tftp commands
in this mode whereas in ROMMON you have to painfully Xmodem the flash down
to the router through the console cable.

Reply to this mail.  You will have to delete your flash and download the
same version for this.
Your flash has became corrupt for some reason or another.  Reloading wont
help this I'm afraid.

Do an upgrade with the same version and the router will come back up
happily.

This is a wierd one. The file is not too big for the flash, and this was

flash file may be corrupted. I have promted a reload and this same condition

results. I am going to power cycle which I feel is not going to fix 
anything. I am wondering if a netboot from another source would fix this 
issue, but I'm still not sure of the exact problem? Anyone have any advice 
or knowledge they would like to impart on me?

If it replies with the mode below then your router has the capability of
DHCP server service:

If it replies with an error or DID NOT get into that mode (router(config)#)

make s1 the backup for s0.  you can then say backup load 128 or 50% and it
will kick in then.  Look up the commands for backup interface and backup
load.

Come back if you need more help but you should be able to suss it out
yourself from the above commands

mainly because your dialler interface (ISDN) costs a damn site more than a
leased line.  Hence the option to use it as a backup circuit.

I am also sitting it at the end of the month - 27th Oct.  I have my CCDP and
have now read Advanced Network Design and Advanced TCPIP. I have genned
myself up on ATM and need to read a LOT more on SNA b4 then.  I believe
voice and PIX is in the exam which I know absolutely diddly squat on.  SO
lets hope that there isnt a lot on those subjects.

You do not have any users with passwords specified.  PAP will not
authenticate without these.  You need to do -

username central password whatever.  You should have this on both of your
routers.

as for the line  dialer map ip 192.168.0.1 name central broadcast 20

you have specified the word broadcast here.  This is not needed as you are
not running any routing protocols.  You are indeed using static routing.
The word broadcast is used to allow the flow of routing updates across the
ISDN line when it becomes active.

The clients and servers can talk and pass traffic but as soon as I begin
setting up VLANs servers and clients don't talk but switches can still ping.

people wanted no more than 32 bytes.  SO a compromise was reached.

only if you have auto sense on.  I would however say as you should to auto
sense GOODBYE.  Set your 100M port to speed 10 and duplex half.  This will
then work better than auto sensing will.

I personally would get your CCNP before your conquest on to the CID.  The
CID is the hardest exam in the series of NP/DP.  It also bears no
resemblance to the DCN.  The DCN is more scenarios, whereas the CID is more
into the actual workings of the protocols.  

In my opinion I would never have passed the CID without first taking the
CCNP track.

I have been a fly on the wall for some time. I have been able to find the
answers to most of my questions from the archives or current threads, but
this one has me stumped.

I have had my CCNA for about a year and just recently passed the DCN test.
keeping in mind I wish to complete CCNP/DP certifications, my questions is

Should I sit the CID test and get that out of the way while the DCN info is
fresh, or should I take the core tests to prepare for the CID?
I'm leaning towards CID, but would like feedback from those who have been
there.

have a 1FE2W module insert into the 3600 which allows the addition of 2 WIC
cards of various flavours.

ISIS access list?

Hellooo,

Me again with the 'orrible ISIS questions.  Here goes.

Scenario is as below.


ROUTER A --- ROUTER B -- ROUTER C --- ROUTER D  ROUTER E
- ROUTER F

O.k. All routers are level 2 only i.e. all in different domains / areas.
What I require is for Router C to be able to see D, E & F but not Router B
and A.
I need Router A & B to be able to see the full network.

Oh Router C, D, E & F only run CLNS.

My guess is to put an outbound access list of some sort onto Router B.  BUT
What type of access list.  Is it a protocol type list?  If so what protocol
number should I use. 

I have tried various i.e. Make Router C a level 1 router --- result --- no
adjacancy formed = no clns routes.  Passive interface on Router B's
connection = no adjacancy formed = no clns routes.

Any help, ideas would be most welcome.

Chuck,  come on IS-IS is an "OPEN" standard.  I am the total opposite to you
as to say I have no been without it in 2 companies that I have worked for.  
As for when you should use it - to be honest I am hearing of more and more
businesses using it as people are starting to "think" that IS-IS is more
reliable than OSPF.  It is less complicated and converges quicker than OSPF.
Of course it also has its downsides but it all comes down to where
everyone's skills set lie and at the moment it lies with OSPF.  Me
personally LONG LIVE ISIS.

To ping your own interface you have to do a frame relay map statement to
your own ip address to the corresponding DLCI.  Otherwise you can't ping

Unusual Aspect of a duplicate IP Address [7:353]

Here is a scenario which caught me out BIG time in a real life situation
using ISIS.

To make it easier

Router A has a serial connection to Router B


Everything is up layer 1 & 2i.e CDP can indeed see Router B if you are on
Router A and vice versa.  Router B can't see any routes from Router A or
beyond.

NOW  Routers A serial 0's ip address is 172.16.130.5, Routers B serial 0's
ip address is 172.16.130.5.

Spot the deliberate mistake.

Although you say AHA he has the same ip address on the serial connections.
SO, quite rightly ISIS says, go away I will never make an adjacency with
myself    :-(

However, it took me quite a while to discover that these IP addresses were
indeed duplicated.  

REASON or should I make it a question?  I think question would be better.  

Q: What do you think would happen if I was on Router A and telnetted to

No, What I saw was while on Router A if I telnetted to the 172.16.130.5
address it took me to Router B, so I thought that everything IP wise was
fine.  On Tom's comment ISIS does require that IP is correct despite it
using CLNS to form adjacencies.  Try it and see, when attempting an
adjacency do a debug isis adj and you will see a line saying no usable IP
addresses to from an appropriate adjacency.

However I thought that this scenario above would be protocol independent BUT
Priscilla seems to have a different result with the same scenario.

I think I saw something similar today, though not with ISIS. But duplicate 
IP addressing caused us to Telnet to ourselves (i.e. Telnet from Router A 
to Router A.) Troubleshooting went downhill for a while until we figured 
out that was what was happening.

Is that what you saw too?

in this case definitely.  No adjacency formed because the ip address was
duplicate.  Once I sorted this problem then the adjacency came in so in this
scenario I would definitely say that Jeff Doyle is wrong.

Just a side thread but since your sdh switches can only talk ISIS shouldn't
someone within your company be able to tell you this.

Seriously though look up the links below.  & BUY Jeff Doyles Routing TCP/IP
book although there are some flaws in it, it is the best there is out there
at the moment.  Also Advanced IP Network Design by Cisco Press has a good
section on ISIS specifically on design.

You should be looking nowadays into the ISIS MultiArea Support document URL
below :-

This entails the way forward that most companies should be following
nowadays.  It is very useful and although it states in the document that you
can have up to 27 different level-1 areas hanging of 1 router I have still
to prove this.  I have heard rumours that at around the 9 different areas
the router starts to creak but I think this must have something to do with
the router type and memory that the person tried the test on.  Also remember
that to enable ISIS on a Cisco router you have to buy the Enterprise
software which in turn in most routers then requires a memory upgrade.  If
you require any other info or are unclear on anything then just give us a
shout.  Unfortunately I am designing and configuring a network which uses
Marconi's EMOS systems and Marconi's ADMuxes etc etc.  Oh the Joys. ;->

exactly what it says.  NO LOGGING CONSOLE, i.e. when you are consoled in to
the box you wont see any messages on your screen.

You have to sit the lab within one year and every other year after until you
pass or you have to sit your written again.

If u pass the written and then do not schedule or do not pass the LAB, do
you loose the CCIE candidate status?

Menus [7:3970]

Hi,

Does anyone know how to configure a menu such that by pressing key 1 it will
do various commands i.e.

menu robert text 1 Press key 1 to shut ehternet interface down
menu robert command  1 conf t

then when you put in more menu robert command 1 they just overwrite each
other.

What I need to do is 
menu robert command 1 config terminal 
menu robert command 1 interface ethernet 0/0
menu robert command 1 shut
menu robert command 1 exit


BUT the only command which is showing is the last menu robert command 1
exit.

I have tried to do menu robert command 1 conf t int e0/0 shut exit

but of course it errors as expected saying that there is no more commands
after conf t i.e. when you normally type the command in.

Any help much appreciated.

Very similar to Robert Nelsons comments.  I have just designed and
implemented an International "out of band" management network using IS-IS.
This as Robert has already said is to use firstly and primarily manage the
SDH equipment we have.

I find it quite straight forward although I seem to be having problems when
trying to summarize IP addresses which in turn then stop full CLNS
connectivity.

Maybe a posting later if I can't figure out what is going on!

Damn, I forgot about that whole Decnet thing.  That's right, that's right,
Decnet implements Is-Is for PhaseV migration.  I have even worked on a
network like that, how foolish of me to forget.

So I guess I should have narrowed my question.  What I should have said is,
has anybody seen Integrated IS-IS (for IP routing only) being used in a real
working network other than an ISP?

installed in it.  I want to assign different timeslots
to the T1 cotroller, but when I am type controller ?
in the config mode, it tells me it's an unrecogmized
command.  Is the controller t1 command not supported
on the FT1 WIC card.  If not, when will this command
work, and is there any way to have multiple grouped
timeslots in my current hardware config?

Check out the cisco website.  I am afraid I don't have the link but it is
headed ISIS Multi Area Protocol Support.  This is an excellent document.
Check the archives as someone not that long ago asked the same question and
at that time I did have the link to that document.

how IS-IS works, but sample designs and configs, and so forth.   Ultimately,
I would like to find something for IS-IS that is comparable to what Halabi's
book is for BGP, but that may be asking for too much.All I've found so
far is Radia's book, and that one chapter in Doyle's book.  Is there
anything else?
