configured for load balancing between 2 web application server (Layer 5).The
setup up was working alright and we tested the load balancing and the
request used were going to both servers on round robin.

What is the router doing? At what point is it broken? Does it try to boot
the image? Is it stuck in a loop?
You can try CNTRL-BRK, but I know that this will not work with some versions

I know you can block ActiveX and Ads with url filtering on the pix
combined with websense. Well using it at home websense is definitely
overkill. I was wondering if there is another way to block this garbage
with the pix without it, I would hate to put software on each computer

I think the 'use-bia' may have been a fix for the problem as well. It's
been a while since it happened. For all I know it might have been a problem
with the CatOS on the switch.

It's better to have a unique HSRP group for each VLAN. Cisco bases the
virtual MAC address on the group. If you reuse the group number, you'll have
duplicate MAC addresses. Granted, they're on seperate VLANs and shouldn't

As far as IBGP next-hop-self is nothing. This is only useful while
injecting the ebgp routes inside an AS. Your config looks OK.

Maybe you don't need to change your cable at all. DCE vs DTE is significant
at layer 1 for clocking issues. There is also DCE DTE at layer 2 for Frame
Relay purposes. The layer 1 DCE does not have to be on the same box as the
layer 2 DCE.

Your instructor is right. We have a pretty big Vlanned network (3000
nodes). The only way for the traffic originating from one subnet to get to
another subnet is to go through a router. Therefore, each Vlan (or subnet)
needs an individual gateway (router) to get to other subnets. That is why

I disagree. CCSP fits in the Cisco Professional Certification scheme much
better than CSS1. Also for your additional SAFE exam you geta 3 year cert
instead of a 2 year. Looks to me like CSS1 was a proving ground for Cisco
before going ahead with a mainline cert like CCSP.
