Hell yea this is a nice piece.. It is DSP and not analog but that
doesn't necessarily mean anything... I am just an analog freak... But i
plan on getting a monomachine and machine drum, and i'm looking at the
Nord Modular G2 as well. Then i will have enough DSP. i'm not a big fan
of virtual analog/DSP/analog modeling. but the Mono Machine , Machine
Drum, and Nord Modular G2 are so freaking powerful your almost stupid
not to get 1 or all of them, if you can afford them (i know i have been
saving my coin) After that its back to REAL circuits, and resistors
and stuff. mmm nothing can beat that warm analog buzz...i love it!!!

it got re-pressed in like 93 ...it was real rare but someone was responsible

yellow label and i think the actual track your talking about is on the B

so let me get all of this correct...according to everyone here on

track and did not make it them selfs.man with all of the

dug this up if it was truebut its probably not true. the
last time i was in detroit i talked with mike for a good long time like
7 hours...and its kinda funny we talked about the jaguar...and he never
mentioned that he or rolando sampled a record to make it...i mean he
told me about alot of other elements in the trackunless of course he
was lying ..in order for UR to have sampled that track then it would
mean that Mad Mike and the rest of UR were lying to everyone in the
world.I THINK NOTif the track sounds like it then its probably a
coincidence ...but i doubt that UR would put on this elaborate hoax to
fool everyone.lets be real...i mean UR has been this whole
timethe fact that people think UR sampled this record in paticular
makes me laugh.. i have heard that same beginning of the melody ALOT
from various tracks from the 70's 80's...as well as the general
arrangements in that trackmy opinion...and maybe you can all laugh

Interesting theory. But I'd wager that the strings in Jaguar were
PLAYED, and are not a sample to begin with. Esp. with that crazy solo
  at the end.

Just to clarify I mean in Jaguar I bet they were PLAYED live on a
keyboard (which has a string patch or whatever), not played on an
actual real analog stringed instrument (a la Metro Area or Kelley Polar

wait a minute.this is what i am saying .the jaguar is NOT
sampled in my opinion, and everything i have figured out based on facts
make me think that it has NOT been sampledits just my opinion if
everyone wants to think that the Jaguar is sampled or copied ...let them
think that .. i believe what we have here is a case of the way
people play piano(synths and keyboards) and maybe subconscious influence
.. what i really meant i guess...is if you have ever talked to
mad mike about the jaguar you quickly realize that it wasn't just
another track.it is a real spiritual track for everyone at UR cause
of what it means to rolando , mike and crew.now after talking about
it for a bit and realizing thati would find it REAL hard that it
could be sampled knowing how important the record was to rolando
thats all i am saying . i am not going to have a 10 email contest of
words cause i will lose every time ...i am not the best writer on the
list thats for sure i just think its one big coincidence .i mean
more than one piano/keyboard player has hit the same 3 or 4 notes in a
row i am sure..and i think its funny that it has taken up this much
time on the list.

 Michael,
Nahhh. While I respect the levels that you have thought through all of
this, all your analysis is based on the (weak, IMHO) assumption that
Jaguar DOES sample that TCOY track, and I'm arguing that it *DOESN'T*.
So everything else you conclude is based on that assumption, and it's
not an assumption I buy whatsoever, so the rest of it to me is a moot
 point.

I mean, go dig out Jaguar again and tell me that's a sample... IMHO
there is no way. Have you ever tried to sample stuff and use it in a
track? There's extraordinary difficulty in finding a clean enough
version of that string part of the track to be able to sample it and
make Jaguar with it. Still, everyone's ears are subjective and it's
something neither of us can conclusively prove one way or the other.

well out here in portland, OR clubs make a regular pratice of suspending
turntables.i have played on MANY suspended setups...alothought i prefer
the ol cinderblock setup from the ol days when parties were in
warhouses.in my opinion suspended tables work ok if it is really done
right ...there are so many ways to suspend them,it just has to be done in an
intelligent wayi mean i have seen people do it and it is just a mess...but
i have played on like 3 really good setups that were just as fine as a regular
setup or on cinderblocksyou always have to watch your touch so if you like
to thrash around and stuff then i would'nt recommend itbut its always
kinda funny to watch someone like TRAXX get crazy with a suspended setup and
tonearms go flying around, slider caps are falling everywhere..i
personally like a solid setup of some sort cause ultimatly you feel
groundedbut if you have a small club or something sometimes suspended
table can work alright.

Well, its kinda funny this thread was brought up recentlyone of my
sources in detroit told me that the ULR future sound e.p. was not just Juan
Atkinsi was told that juan had the record deal with great asset, but
juan wanted to get more people from detroit involved with all of the
upcoming talent around at that time (89-92)so he had some of his
friends go to the studio with him. the tracks on the future sound
e.p on ULR contain material created by Mike Huckaby , Shake , Jay
Denham , Marty Bondsremixed with juan...most of the tracks were made
with mike huckaby's R-8 and other gear..at the time when the tracks
came out Mike Huckaby had not put a record out , and was not sure what
to name his track so Shake helped him name the track Urban
  Tropics.the future

sound e.p is definatly is one of my favorite detroit records , and it is
very sought afterthere should be a copy showing up soon in the
  detroit techno
museum soonjuan is a great producer and has made some of the most
important detroit techno records ever RESPECT but it was those 4 people
who made the ULR future sound e.p. go down in history.i thank juan

2002-06-25 Thread MM
GOD i love that record.i have 2 copies of it ..it is a bit of a mystery
track i doubt you will find the original unless you pay ALOT , cause its
one of those REAL RARE disco cuts(but there is always the chance)but anyway
it got repressed as a bootleg with the word melodies across the front.i
found my copy's in detroit about 3 years ago but i think the bootlegs are
still aroundi don't think it was a limited pressi have to dig my copy
out. if you want more info email me privately.hope that helps..

I've been wondering about this track that I've only heard on mixes at
deephousepage.com. I'd post the times and mixes but deephousepage has been
down all weekend () along with klubradio.de, making my weekend
stuck in front of this box not any easier. Its on the Tee Scott mix live at
Zanzibar, I think its the second song after Chaka Khan performs, or at
least it is on the dub I made of it. Its also on the Ron Hardy tribute mix
by Izrael, I think it might be the first song on that one. Anywhere here's
a breakdown of the song, any help IDing would be very appreciated.

female singer: gotta get a bit on the drums cmon cmon cmon and give me some

get up off of your pace give me some funky bass yeahee yeah hhoohh ...
 melodies

lalala lalala lalala melodies, true melodies

then a spine tingling piano line

then funky wah wah guitar riff

then break down to kick and snare and tralala lalala lalala melodies
 ,melodiss

sometime later a muffled male voice says c'mon wheres the rest of the tape?
then a backwards spinning effect followed by that haunting piano again.

 Or something like that.

Can anyone recommend a house email list? I know people don't want this to
turn into a house list. I love the deephousepage chat, but I like getting
things through email. Thanks again, sorry to post about house but I've been
wondering about this song for awhile.

There's a place in the downtown area,
run by a woman and her husband and daughters,
she runs a spice/sauce company called Spice Mama's
and the restaurant is called Jada.

It's the best southern cooking I've ever had ever.
  And live Jazz/Funk/Soul to boot.

We had the best time there.

  Here's the review (It's way fu*king better than these as*holes say !!)

  http://detroit.citysearch.com/profile/5238217

  The Scene
Once a sure destination for soul-food and jazz lovers, sadly, Ja*Da is now
only available for catering. To order Ja*Da's catered service, call (313)
  965-1700.
  The Food
Ribs, shrimp and catfish that are out of this world. Also, don't miss the
macaroni and cheese, slaw, sweet potatoes, or black-eyed peas. For dessert:
sweet potato pie or bread pudding with Amaretto-soaked cherries and
walnuts, both served warm. Of course, don't dare pass up the ribs, with
Ja*Da sauce that's barely sweet and a glorious off-red. Baked over flavored
chips, they get two spice rubs before the grilling stage.

Subject:[313] advice? from seattle to demf.

   hello =]

i am comin' to tha d and would *love* your advice on the following things:

   - bassline fornication
   - local non-festival happenings
   - where the hell do you eat?
   - destroying my credit card

i really dig intimate gatherings... i don't generally go to massives,
   apart
from festivals. so i'd love any info on events which are not being widely
advertised, even if they aren't necessarily big names. i like electro,
techno, tech house, deep house, jungle, idm, downtempo, hiphop best.. but
listen to other things as well.

i also like checking out cities and last year we did *no* exploration.
art museums, film festivals, or anything specifically local.. i want to
   check it.

last year we also found no good restaurants. i'm vegetarian and i love
   thai,
italian, japanese especially but i just like to eat in general ;)
especially brunch! the afterparty brunch is a vital component of my
existence, so any tips on that would be *so* appreciated. and do you want
to come eat with us? the northwest division of the freak squad likes
   company.

i am hoping to do some clothes shopping as well.. info on that would rock
   ;)

a little about me... i'm 23. i run a bunch of local sites about electronic
music, do the whole wannabe dj/gathering facilitator/writing for
   magazines/blahblahblah.
i went to the ur party last year and it kicked my ass. my plane ticket got
   thrown away
this year and some person who i have never met who refuses to reveal their
   identity
bought me a new one.. so i am going entirely on the kindness of strangers.

i cannot wait. i cannot wait. i cannot wait.

also, i like meeting dancers around the globe. so drop me a line if you
   want to kick
it. esp. if you are someone i know from 313 or elsewhere.

i return the favor too so if you are ever up seattle-way, you know who to
   write ;)

Re: [313] DJ ESP on Generator

2002-05-15 Thread MM
GEN009 Transporter is defiantly on alan oldhams generator
label...although i am not sure why its not on the pure sonic web page, but i
am pretty sure it was released to the public, and on alan's generator label

michael

FC3 Richards wrote:

 here is a tough question

I have this release on Generator records from a few years back by DJ ESP.
It says that plainly on the label. And inscribed on the wax itself is the
GEN009 matrix number for the release. It is a double pack and is (i
believe) called Transporter. Now why is it that when you go to the pure
sonic web page and look at the Generator release's GEN009 is clearly not
listed. Was this never released to the public, or is this a release on the
other Generator records out of Germany. I am assuming it is AO's Generator
because of the fact that Woody did plenty of work with him in the past.
HELP...Mr Oldham maybe your explanation would be the best.
