[arr] Did anyone get a copy of Ghajini in Delhi
Did anyone manage to get his/her copy of Ghajini in Delhi. All shopkeepers are clueless. In fact one of the shopkeepers told me that everything related with an Aamir Khan movie is delayed always :-) (he cited the example of Lagaan DVD releasing 5 years after the movie release). Help me out guys -- its really frustating to just read the reviews and not get to listen the magic. -- Regards, Vikram http://www.vikramkumar.org http://www.vikramkumar.com http://www.vikramkumar.info
[arr] Re: AR Rehman has given only 1 or 2 hit songs
Hey family, The thing is that, this forum has become full of rough critics. Actually, we don't have to really care about what people say. We love ARR, some people don't like him...see...it always happens... So don't make it as a big problem. Just like when you critisize Shah Rukh, hey...he's my greatest actor, too...I'm not telling that I don't like Amir, I like him...but still Shah Rukh is the best for me. ARR is the greatest too...So please make this group clean from illogical response. It's something usual if they speak up their minds... Just avoid rough sentences like...I know that idiot from another forum. He is die heart fan of SRK and Himesh (says Himesh is God of music) and he is against Ghajini for 2 reasons He hates Rahman and Aamir is not friendly with SRK. People love ARR, SRK, Amir, Himesh...so let them be... --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, rivjot [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Last senetence in this post explains everything Source: Legolas55569's Mind. The producers know that AR Rehman has given only 1 or 2 hit songs in the whole movie as usual and they are scared that the music will be flop if it is released so close to RNBDJ release as people will compare the music for both the movies and will find the difference clearly and tilt heavily towards RNBDJ music, thus affecting sales of Ghajini CD's. Moreveover, on top of this, another factor is that SRK is a much bigger star than Aamir and the producer know that to compete against SRK's movie's music with Aaamir's movie's music is like comitting suicide as nowadays music directors hardly matter in the sales of music CD's, what matters is how big the star of the film is. http://www.wp-wordpress.com/171939/reason-ghajini-music-is-being- postponed -- regards, Vithur
Re: [arr] When an Australian girl said she sings 'Kabhi Kabhi Aditi' in her sleep
My russian colleague one morning came to work listening to music and put the headphones on my ears and it was playing Chaiyya Chaiyya .. i told her, this is probably the best good morning anyone as told me at work.. and she went on about how much she likes the Bombay dreams album.. A few weeks later we met up for a barbeque at their place and as I entered the place.. Bombay dreams was indeed playing out loud.. and there I was feeling 'at home' in their place.. Her boyfriend - An Ozy (and a big shot in a German Bank) said that we both just love this album and this song (Chaiyya Chaiyya) in particular - and how they sometimes end up putting in loop for hours sometime. He was quite thrilled to share that he watched Bombay dreams live twice just for the music.. my russian friend was giving him that envious stare and recalled how he called her from mumbai when we was dancing to the tunes of AR! Man even i was.. They were so excited (and surprised) to see the song again when watch 'Inside Man' and how they looked at each other thinking 'thats our song' how did it end up here?? [arr] Latoo sound effect
The astronaut like effect voice at begining of Latoo is awesome. Who gave the voice for that? Only Rahman can create such realistic type of western sounds which we can hear in Newyork Nagaram and latest Shano Shano remix. And also I think Rahman should give more chance to Ember Rap for the rap songs. He sounds cool and exceptional in Rahman's current trend of music...
[arr] Ghajini's music is just average.
Hi Rahmanics, Long wait for the album just couldn’t pay off. Ghajini has been one of the average albums of A.R.Rahman so far though the album is completely different from the original one but Rahman just couldn’t manage to outdo Harris Jeyraj's Ghajini. Rahman had been very impressive in Jodhaa Akbar, the music was a class. ADA and JTYJN too were typical Rahman albums. Last month's Yuvvraaj was also good but definitely not one of his finest work. Why is Srinivas used so rarley by ARR even though he has one of India's best voices? Guess Kaise Mujhe could have easily been sung with more emotions Srini.

I'm sure you will appreciate, first and foremost, that a review by very definition, is a personal opinion of the person writing it. And hence I must reiterate the fact that my comments on the music of Yuvvraaj are entirely personal and based on my own best judgement of it. While I thought the music of both Jodhaa Akbar and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na were fantastic Rahman scores this year, I do feel -- I must repeat -- that his score for Yuvvraaj is short of great. I thought Dost, Mastam Mastam and Tu Muskura were excellent tunes, but the rest I was not particularly impressed by. And judging it purely by the standards of the last musical Rahman and Ghai delivered together -- Taal -- I felt Yuvvraaj once again fell short. I think you will agree with me on this considering you are clearly a discerning music fan. Having said that, I entirely respect and value your opinion and am happy to consider your argument that the music of Yuvvraaj is indeed very good. After all, just like films, music too is different things to different people. And indeed I believe the songs of Dostana are foot-tapping. I would urge you not to rush to conclusions suspecting biases where there are none. I love cinema and music too much and speak passionately about both. You are always always welcome to agree or disagree with my personal opinions and reviews. Any sort of debate or discussion on film and music is healthy, and I am always up for it. So thank you once again for your valuable feedback. I'm indeed grateful you took the trouble to write to me to express your opinion after reading/hearing my review. For me, the very fact that you felt compelled to respond to my review, is both heartening and encouraging. Do continue to write when you disagree with me next and hopefully I will be able to satisfy you with my explanation. We can agree to disagree, perhaps. Even CD sales didn’t look encouraging for Yuvvraaj but overall it was very good stuff. But what can I say for Ghajini, I think Rahman was not in mood of composing this album. Rahman should have been very careful in handling this project because the kind of music which Harris Jeyraj had delivered in Tamil version was one of the greatest works in terms of music in Indian Cinema. You just can’t compare that with the recently released Hindi Ghajini. Very interesting to see Joginder Tuteja giving very high rating for this album instead he should have given it for Jodhaa Akbar, 4/5 for Ghajini is too much. I think he tried to play safe this time. I got the copy yesterday and listened to it atleast 8 times but still I didn’t find any songs better except Behka and Guzarish (not as good as Suthum Vizhium though). Behka is uniquely refreshing number by Rahman with great vocal rendering by Karthik. Karthik rocks in Behka. About the Rest it will take very long time to grow on you. 1. Guzarish – Good one but not the best, Javed Ali's voice is ok-ok. (3/5) 2. Aye Bachchu - No comments, X-micchi Y-micchi was better. (2/5) 3. Kaise Mujhe – Dissappointing. (2/5) 4. Behka - Only song I liked, Rahman managed to compose this song well. (4/5) 5. Latoo - Oh my god what was Rahman trying to do in this song. Rahmanji please don’t try to experiment too much. (2.75/5) 6. Kaise Mujhe (instrumental) is not as good as previous Rahman’s instrumental tracks. (2.5/5) Album Rating: 2.5/5 . Top songs: Behka, Guzarish. Keeping finger crossed for BGMs. Rahman gave 3 hit albums this year, Jodhaa Akbar, JTYJN and Sakkarakatti. Yuvvraaj was good album but couldn’t create magic as Taal in terms of audio sales. ADA ’s sales were very bad too. Ghajini, I don’t know but by the way Rahman had delivered music it too might fall down badly. It all depends on how the songs have been shot and whether the songs are fitting to the situation and most important thing of all will “Aamir Khan” factor help boost the album sales. Rahman had been consistently impressive with the following directors: 1. Maniratnam 2. Shankar 3. Ashutosh Gowariker Leaving the above 3 directors Rahman had given very few good albums. Among the 6 albums of A.R.Rahman released this year (Jodhaa Akbar, ADA , JTYJN, Sakkarakatti, Yuvvraaj, Ghajini) Jodhaa Akbar is the best. Yuvvraaj and JTYJN were also good. Finally Rahman who started year with rich music concludes very badly. I would better listen to all his earlier albums all over again instead of listening Ghajini’s music. Note: This was my personal feeling I always liked ARR's album but Ghajini's music somehow didn't convince me. Regards, Aditya Add more friends to your messenger and enjoy! Invite them now.

Though I like Suttum vizhi for its tune. I felt it was nothing but an usual from HJ. Also the female singing as if running out of breath didn't sound great. Also HJ has been in for 10 years I haven't heard anything different from what he had done from his first album. May be his songs are hit, but as a MD he hasn't done any experiment and hasn't contributed much. Some of his songs sounded close to AR's like Gulmohar song in Majnu (sounded like Pachai nirame), Sach keh raha hain (RHTDM) sounded like Yavano oruvan of Alaipayuthey. I dont wish to compare HJ's composition with AR's and never want to graduate writing who / which song is better. My ultimatum is to enjoy music and learn its magic and I dont wish to lose my enjoyment being restless in comparison. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, chelva kumar [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Go on...comparewat bout oru malai n sutrum vili? cnt find rght?? --- On Tue, 25/11/08, Thulasi Ram [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From: Thulasi Ram [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [arr] Re: Gajni.. Overall, none of song of Ghajini (tamil) stands in front of Ghajini (hindi) where each and every song is unique, melodious and will become masterpiece after the movie becomes blockbuster. --- In arrahmanfans@ yahoogroups. com, chelva kumar chelva1006@ ... wrote: Rehman sir,  I wonder how u accepted the offer to compose music for ghajini..I think its safer nt to re-compose for remakes expecially super hit movies like ghajini in tamil. It has such huge expectation. I think for the first time Rahman's tracks for Gajini will be compared to the HJ's version for the tamil movie. I think it will be a healthy debate considering the fact that hindi Gajni's treatment will be different to the tamil and perhaps even the song placements might vary. I think Aamir Khan repeating the same director would mean that the movie will  be as good as the tamil and music may not seem as plantedthis time. It is good that those who have not heard tamil, will view this in a different way. Re: [arr] Ghajini's music is just average.
I was with the same opinion Aditya ,till this morning :-) last two days i am listening to the songs ..but was kind of disappointed . I made a playslist also thinking that i will listen to the other releases of this year with only guzarish from ghajini (Other exclusions were only pappu and shano). But i should say rahman has been carrying this burden of responsility of having to change my intial impression for somany years now...:-) for that matter, initial impression of quite a lot of people. ..and sometimes it takes long ...he made it work for me only today( third day).now i just explode lattoo and bachoo only :-). I love Ghajini and I deleted the play list :-) Thanks for sharing your frustration. which i am sure somany in the gorup will be able to relate ... To: arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com Date: Tuesday, November 25, 2008, 12:49 AM Hi Rahmanics, Long wait for the album just couldn’t pay off. Rahman had been consistently impressive with the following directors: Maniratnam Shankar Ashutosh Gowariker Leaving the above 3 directors Rahman had given very few good albums. Re: [arr] My Mail to Rajeev Masand to his remark on ARR Music in Yuvvraaj
Very polished response from Mr Masand. Warm Regards ~~~ Vinayak 2008/11/25 rathish ramakrishnan [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Everybody, This is my mail to Rajeev Masand to his remark on ARR Music in Yuvvraaj, this is what the reply i got from him see below http://ibnlive.in.com/news/masands-verdict-yuvvraaj-doesnt-hit-the-right-note/78708-8-p1.html Dear Mr Rathish, Thank you so much for your frank response to my review of Yuvvraaj. Regards and best wishes from another big AR Rahman fan, Rajeev Masand -- *Sent:* Monday, November 24, 2008 12:18 PM *To:* [EMAIL PROTECTED] *Cc:* Rajeev Masand *Subject:* AR Rahman's soundtrack throws up only three good tracks which is a shame considering the film's designed as a musical Hi Rajeev, You review are biased every time. All this days i thought you are blind because your review doesn't reflect the movie, it's all the production house i mean selected production house. Now you have started reviewing music too, All this days i thought you are blind but now you are proving you are deaf too, first prove yourself reviewing the movie and then music, there are others to do that or take reference for the music expert and include in your review. It was really shocking when you told AR Rahman's soundtrack throws up only three good tracks which is a shame considering the films designed as a musical. Three good tracks? Are you kidding? Understand what musical mean in Indian cinema, don't directly jump in to conclusion don't think it's Broadway musical were hundreds of dancers and musicians dance and sing the whole show. Do you have any songs to compare with Tu hi to meri dost hai,Tu Muskura, Dil ka Rishta, Zindagi, Mastam Mastam, Shano Shano and Mann Mohini, i think rahman's song from Jodha Akbar, Jaane Tu...ya jaanena and Ada will be only Competition this year. In your review for Dostana your take on music is foot tapping it was really shocking. Regards, Rathish

[arr] SDM Tracklist my thoughts abt Ghajini...
Hi Guys As like all Rahman songs, it took time for me to like Ghajini songs. What 2 say the tracks r mindblowing our boss rocks as usual. Guzarish: When I saw the promo of this song in TV I instantly liked it I was waiting 2 hear the full version of the song. This song is awesome, words cannot describe its beauty, it is very soulful. Javed Ali at his best Sonu Nigam's humming is flawless. Aye Bachchu: This song rocksss. It took me a couple of hearings to fall in luv with this 1. The guitar played in the song is terrific. Infact I started listening to the song as many times as I can only to hear these guitar bits. Suzanne's voice adds more beauty to the song. Behka: A very innovative attempt by ARR eventhough few would say dat this song has a similarity to a few others. But this song is my pick of d album. THIS SONG IS MY HELLO TUNE. Fantabulous rendering by Karthik. Kaise Mujhe: Like many I hated this song after my first hearing. But after repeated hearings, I jus couldnt stop hearing it. Benny Dayal gettin better song after song and his rendition is very good. many would have criticized him but I liked his voice very much. Shreya Ghoshal shines in the song with her beautiful voice, adding more beauty to this soothing number. (This song is very haunting it made me cry). Kaise Mujhe Instrumental: The instrumental version of the above song. It is simply extraordinary eventhough it cannot be compared to previous works done by ARR. Latoo: Hats off to Rahman for trying sumthin very different. But I personally felt that Shreya id not suit the song. May b ARR could hav used some other singer in her place (even Suzanne would have been a better choice). Compared to the other tracks I din like this song very much. But overall it is very fresh to hear. My Rating: 4.5/5 Also, I jus saw the SDM tracklist in www.arrahman.com. I was very surprised happy to see Mahalaxmi Iyer Palakkad Sriram (Padayappa Sriram) back with our boss. Waiting to hear the tracks. HAIL ARR...!!! ARR ROXZZZ...!!! Anand

As soon as the opening bars of *Guzarishhttp://specials.rediff.com/movies/2008/nov/06video2.htm * kick in, you know you're onto something special. Rahman structures the deceptively simple-sounding basic melody almost into a fugue, the melodic lines intertwining around each other into a wonderfully complex tune. Javed Ali's vocals start easy before they progressively reach a point where his tongue is excitedly tripping over the words, before AR tosses in some space for refrain. [arr] Buzz18 reviews Ghajini
MUSIC REVIEW: Aamir's Ghajini AR Rahman's score has quite a few moments but not enough repeat value By Aditya Mehta . Buzz18 Nov 25, 2008 Comments [ 0 ] E-mail AR Rahman has a knack of hitting just the notes you want to hear, and the tendency to make music that is slightly ahead of its time. The genius' work was last heard on the soundtrack of Subhash Ghai's ambitious Yuvvraaj, which had a couple of memorable songs. There are six tracks on the music CD of Aamir Khan's Ghajini, and one can't help but notice that many Bollywood soundtracks nowadays have only half a dozen songs or less. The opener Guzarish is very good modern Bollywood music, very AR Rahman. Javed Ali has sung this (very well!) and Sonu Niigaam is the 'guest vocalist'. Operatic vocals by Kavita Baliga and mandolins add the required weight to Guzarish. Little wonder then, that this tiny gem from Ghajini is getting heavy rotation on all music channels. Rahman has made good use of the electric guitar on Aye Bachu. Sung by Suzanne, it has English words inserted in Hindi sentences. The music sounds fresh, but there isn't anything that makes you come back to the song for a second round. Kaise Mujhe is an excellent track! Not something that'll hit you instantly, this song is one of those that grow on you after a few listens. Benny Dayal sings well, and Shreya Ghoshal is even better. Rahman displays tremendous control here, he lets the song spread over time and it's definitely good to let things settle down on their own instead of being anal about them. Karthik gives the 'south Indian film music' feel to Behka with his vocals, but even the innovative music does not ensure any kind of repeat value to this. Latoo is alright...Shreya Ghoshal sings this decent but forgettable number. The instrumental version of Kaise Mujhe is even better...no words being sung here, but Shreya Ghoshal's vocals are the perfect layer for this thoughtfully-crafted piece. The thing with Rahman is the music is always good, but he often fails to hold your attention, and this could be because of his work coming across as half-hearted at times. His control over his art is undoubtable, and his genius undeniable. With Yuvvraaj and now Ghajini, fans of the maestro will just have to wait a bit for him to come up with yet another few masterly pieces of music that'll blow us away. Rahman's score for Aamir's Ghajini has fresh, innovative modern music and quite a few moments, but it's not something that will stay in your CD player for too long. RATING: 2.5/5 http://buzz18.in.com/reviews/music/music-review-aamirs-ghajini/99251/0

[arr] Ghajini - Director Effect
I also think that Ghajini although rocks ..its not really that great album . Personally i liked only one track from tamil ghajini which was also released in telugu.. i felt the remaining songs in the original were not good ..just passable. This director has done a telugu film in which i saw a similiar result. Two good tracks and the rest are some kind of weird stuff which again are just passable. So i wasnt expecting a great album , to me ghajini hindi has again been something similiar but better. Two great tracks , rest good but not the the great RRahmaannn stuff. I dont know why people didnt like Aye Bachchu and Latoo . They are superb commercial songs and will top charts. am lovin them... I wonder how these tracks would have been received if they are in a tamil rahman album. I am sure there wil be praises and praises ...

1. Guzarish †Good one but not the best, Javed Ali's voice is ok-ok. (3/5) 2. Aye Bachchu - No comments, X-micchi Y-micchi was better. (2/5) 3. Kaise Mujhe †Dissappointing. It all depends on how the songs have been shot and whether the songs are fitting to the situation and most important thing of all will “Aamir Khan†factor help boost the album sales. Rahman had been consistently impressive with the following directors: ManiratnamShankarAshutosh Gowariker Leaving the above 3 directors Rahman had given very few good albums. [arr] A.R.Rahman again for Shyam Benegal’s Chamku Chameli
http://www.screenindia.com/news/-I-am-very-strict-about-my-riyaaz--/390449/ *Music runs through her veins, as Runa Rizvi is the daughter of famed ghazal singer Rajkumar Rizvi and singer Indrani Rizvi. She has now entered the playback fray* Runa owes her new break in movies to A.R. Rahman, even though she is into music since she can remember. She even has a small jazz band. How do ghazal and jazz jell with each other? Runa says that both Indian classical and Western musical influences are very strong within her. If my parents are into Indian music, I have also learnt jazz in New York for about five to six years. Back in India, I have gone also into thumri and Sufiana music and learnt voice modulation, diction training and workshops in classical music. As for my band, I sing the classical songs and they do their job! she says with that ready smile. The singer belongs to the Kalavant Gharana and has been trained in classical, semi-classical and light classical music and is proficient at ghazals, thumri, folk, Punjabi and Sufi Music, having started performing at the tender age of six with her father and guru and training even earlier. But playback, says Runa, excites her. Classical training, she insists, is the base of everything in music but while in a classical performance, an artiste can even have an hour as creative space to improvise and show off his skills, a song in a movie is decidedly more challenging. You have just four or five minutes, says Runa. And in that short time you have to deliver anything from a simple melody to a club number with all the musical demands, expression, diction and emotions. She recalls her father's closeness to the late Madan Mohan and others and his singing Laila Majnu do badan ek jaan with Anuradha Paudwal and Preeti Sagar in the 1976 Laila Majnu. Runa made her playback duet four years ago in her friend Sandesh Shandilya's film Uff...Kya Jaadoo Mohabbat Hai! produced by Rajjat Barjatya for Rajshri Productions. It was a beautiful duet named Shukriya with Kunal Ganjawala, says Runa. I am grateful to the Barjatyas and Sandeshji for thinking of me. Runa has also sung Jeene ka and Har kafan under Amar Mohile's baton in Ram Gopal Varma's Contract. So how did Jaane tu mera kya hai come about with a combination as heady as A.R.Rahman with Aamir Khan and Abbas Tyrewala? Smiles the singer, I was called to sing all the alaaps and vocals for (the background score of) Jagmohan Mundhra's Provoked - A True Story by Rahman-sir. He must have liked my voice and singing, for in fifteen days he called for me to record this song. The singer is delighted that after the film's success, the song has been finally included in the movie on popular demand. And how did Provoked... happen? I know someone from the music industry whose judgement Rahman-sir trusts completely, she says mysteriously. The ghazal, says Runa, is in her blood. My roots are so strong that experimenting with Western and fusion to appeal to a wider and younger audience will never compromise that foundation, she declares when I ask her whether this Western influence will gradually seep in and affect her basic skills. Western music has its classical and folk roots that are centuries old. So why is the term 'contemporary' synonymous with Western music and 'traditional' with Indian music? Smiles Runa, Yes, I guess that is true of today. All I can say is that our music is very intense, but because the patience level of the audience is less now and the world is becoming smaller, the Western element has become important. Among her career highs, Runa has also had the opportunity to perform with and share the same stage with legends like Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Jagjit Singh and Mehdi Hasan. On February 17, 2006, she was introduced as The Young Maestro In Sufi Music at the launch of the Indian Music Academy and performed in the presence of former president APJ Abdul Kalam. Runa has also performed and worked with artistes like Leslie Lewis, Ustad Sultan Khan, Abhijeet, Mahalakshmi and Jaspinder Nirula. Not only has she performed internationally in U.K., USA and Canada, but she also conducts regular workshops in Indian classical music with her father every year in New York, Chicago, Washington and Toronto. She has also done shows with Bappi Lahiri and sung on the album Catwalk with music by Bappa Lahiri. I am very strict about my riyaaz, says the lady who has recorded a song for Bapi-Tutul in The Flag and with A.R.Rahman again for Shyam Benegal's Chamku Chameli and a film that for now cannot be mentioned. Pritam, Lalit Pandit and Salim-Sulaiman are the other composers with whom she is working, and there is also an album coming up. -- regards, Vithur

I don't get it... in the first para itself you agreed that you're nowhere close to him in judging what is good still in next 40 odd lines, you're giving him suggestions about what he should do n' what he shouldn't do... so what's the point?? No doubt ARR is a master composer and we are nowhere close to him in judging what is good. However here are some of my honest opinion and I'm only talking about his recent works (last 3-4 years) and no point comparing to the oldies of 90s and late 90s. List of what I'm looking for as a change in ARR sir's music. 1. Sometimes the crescendo (change of scale or introduction of odd sounding tune) in songs like Dil Ka Rishta, Kahin To (JTYJN)sounded unpleasant to hear... Can this be avoided? 2. Usage of minimal instruments (like a soothing guitar riff, mellifluous piano, violin, sitar, sarangi and soft percussions) and less of background accompaniments and too many instruments would be better for hearing any day. This is missing at times these days. We need more of these...dont we?? 3. Flow of tune is inconsistent and patchy at times (very few cases). No amount of instrumentation and layering can match the class behind a master tune. May ears might be better tuned for smooth flowing tunes that are distinct rather than sudden twists and turns that are less comprehensible. 4. While I do agree due to commercial reasons, ARR has to quickly deliver a hit rather than focus on evergreen melody and life of the song, I would rather encourage as a fan that his songs be richly melodic and satisfying musically / be heard by just a few rather than be crowd pleasing and less classy. 5. Sir could avoid making music for amateur directors... .they are spoiling his outputs. Dont dilute...work only for the best in the industry who have a sense of extracting the best...like Gowariker or Rakesh Mehra or Maniratnam or Gowtham menon or Shankar; even though it means 1 or 2 album per year, it would have the potential to be masterpieces. .. 6. I felt some of the masterpieces of ARR are from period films like Bose, JA, Lagaan etc...Why not keep synth based sounts aside for a while and use native instruments and sounds used in such period films for mainstream commerical movies??? We need more of Sitars, Banjos, Cellos and many such original instrument sounds. 7. While Benny, Krish, Naresh Iyer, Blazee, Javed Ali etc...are great, I find the voice of Sonu Nigam, Srinivas, Hariharan, Alka Yagnik divine and completely melting. They would certainly be delivering songs with much greater finesse and expertise. Somehow miss these people at times. We are probably getting an overdoese of these new comeres. An AR Rahman album is often cause for celebration, but I've always been partial to the albums where he seems to be experimenting even more than usual. There's a palpable childlike enthusiasm in tracks where he riffs with such constant improvisation that the results are as close to jazz as Bollywood can get. Also Read: What Aamir Khan won't do for Ghajini Putting it simply, Ghajini [Images] is a phenomenal album. You'll find -- and argue over -- your individual favourite tracks, but very honestly, this could just be one of his finest albums ever. Not just are the tracks great, but each one segues into the next with perfect unpredictability. There is much chaos and musical anarchy packed into this taut album, but when the revolution is in the hands of this man, well, don't you know it's gonna be alright? As soon as the opening bars of Guzarish kick in, you know you're onto something special. This is ballad as it should be, an intoxicating song best left played on loop for a good half hour. Let the brilliance seep in, you'll love it. Aye Bachchu starts off with a raspy-radio feel, hiss and crackle barely masking the aggression displayed by a couple of punchy guitars revving each other up like duelling bikers. It doesn't seem very Rahmanesque at first, but the way he builds up something this arbidly belligerent around a series of simple melodies, each cutting unpredictably into the other... wow. It's a 3.49 long track, but Rahman fills each second with pure energy, making it seem way longer. This one's destined to be a college anthem. Also Read: How Aamir got his Ghajini cut The nearly-headbanging vibe gives way to Kaise Mujhe, a mellow duet sung by Benny Dayal and Shreya Ghoshal. Dayal is made to sound somewhat like Rahman himself, and the only problem with this innocuous mush-track is the fact that the composer's structure overwhelms Prasoon Joshi's deftly balanced lyrics. The words are less accessible than they deserve to be. Yet when Ghoshal kicks in, she's given enough room to play. Of course, in all likelihood we'll be worshipping the track after forty listens. Behka has one of the most intriguing opening seconds of any Rahman song, a flirty keyboard tangoing merrily around a heavily thudding snare drum. So heady is the rush this start gives you that you want it to go on for longer, but AR cuts you off craving more as a youngster called Karthik proceeds to rock the vocals. Joshi's lyrics are fantastic, and when the langurous Behka-Behka chorus kicks in, it's hard not to be swept away. And just when you know which way the track is headed, Rahman mixes things up with all the glee of a mad scientist. And what a funky Frankenstein he serves up. A very hard track not to grin immediately at. Also Read: Bollywood's latest love story Houston... the eagle has landed? Perhaps the last words you expect to hear in an ARR soundtrack, but the man is clearly having fun with Latoo, a joyous ditty where the composer goes into sampling mode with an eclectic bag of sounds. The sounds seem poured sporadically into the mix, but the layering is a silky masterclass. Ghoshal does well, almost as well as the male chorus singers -- who seem to be singing, um, 'Zimbabwe!'( ?). Living up to its name, this is a very standard track except poured through an aural kaleidoscope. Much

I m talking about entire album, otherwise only 1 or 2 or 3 songs form previous ARR's albums were instance clicked to me. Even Dil SE, Lagaan, Taal, RDB took time to grow on me. Which ARR album was an instance click for u guys ? I m still waiting for an album like Humse hai muqabala from our boss. I don't mean similar music, but fast beats, heavy music, soothing, dancing numbers etc. Humse hai muqabala is my personal favourite. An AR Rahman album is often cause for celebration, but I've always been partial to the albums where he seems to be experimenting even more than usual. There's a palpable childlike enthusiasm in tracks where he riffs with such constant improvisation that the results are as close to jazz as Bollywood can get. - *Also Read: What Aamir Khan won't do for Ghajinihttp://specials.rediff.com/movies/2008/nov/21slid1.htm * http://specials.rediff.com/movies/2008/nov/21slid1.htm Putting it simply, *Ghajini [Imageshttp://search.rediff.com/imgsrch/default.php?MT=ghajini ]* is a phenomenal album. As soon as the opening bars of *Guzarishhttp://specials.rediff.com/movies/2008/nov/06video2.htm * kick in, you know you're onto something special. Rahman structures the deceptively simple-sounding basic melody almost into a fugue, the melodic lines intertwining around each other into a wonderfully complex tune. Javed Ali's vocals start easy before they progressively reach a point where his tongue is excitedly tripping over the words, before AR tosses in some space for refrain. This is ballad as it should be, an intoxicating song best left played on loop for a good half hour. Let the brilliance seep in, you'll love it. *Aye Bachchu* starts off with a raspy-radio feel, hiss and crackle barely masking the aggression displayed by a couple of punchy guitars revving each other up like duelling bikers. - *Also Read: How Aamir got his Ghajini cuthttp://specials.rediff.com/movies/2008/nov/24sd1-how-aamir-khan-got-his-ghajini-cut.htm * The nearly-headbanging vibe gives way to *Kaise Mujhe*, a mellow duet sung by Benny Dayal and Shreya Ghoshal. *Behkahttp://specials.rediff.com/movies/2008/nov/25video1-aamir-dances-to-bheka-song-from-ghajini.htm *has one of the most intriguing opening seconds of any Rahman song, a flirty keyboard tangoing merrily around a heavily thudding snare drum. So heady is the rush this start gives you that you want it to go on for longer, but AR cuts you off craving more as a youngster called Karthik proceeds to rock the vocals. Joshi's lyrics are fantastic, and when the langurous *Behka-Behka* chorus kicks in, it's hard not to be swept away. And just when you know which way the track is headed, Rahman mixes

[arr] Behka”, the song doesn’t have Aamir ( SEMI ARR)
*No, we are not talking about Aamir Khan's passion for cricket or his six-pack abs in 'Ghajini'. *Rather, we are talking about six different looks that Aamir Khanhttp://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/aamir_khan/has sported for a single song in Ghajini http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/ghajini/ . Titled Behka, the song doesn't have Aamir in his by-now-famous short hairdo with scars on the scalp. The actor sports a long hairdo and very stylish clothes and fashion accessories for the number. The idea to have Aamir in six different looks in one song was given by choreographer Ahmed Khan . When Ahmed tossed the idea to Aamir, the actor, always eager to experiment with his looks, was all game for it. http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php The six different looks in the song has Aamir wearing a variety of outfits from narrow-fit jeans to ties, hats, t-shirts and waist coat. Aamir's styling was done by Arjun Bhasin, while his funky hairdo was done by Avan Contractor. Both Arjun and Avan have previously worked with Aamir in Rang De Basanti http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/rang_de_basanti/ and Dil Chahta Hai http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/dil_chahta_hai/respectively. The song, shot in South Africa over a span of 20 days, has Aamir wooing his ladylove in the film, Asin http://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/asin/ . [arr] Critics, Reviews, Comparisons and Ghajini
Dear all, This topic from me is coming out of a frustration that I¹ve been having for 5 years now. I would like to discuss about a few prominent albums, concerned reviews and success of he respective albums. I want to start my discussion with the year 2003 when the album ³Boys² hit the market on the 29th of June in that year. This album was considered one of the biggest releases of that year because of the rapport that ARR and Shankar have. I got the album the very first day and the track listing on the album looked like this: 1.Girlfriend 2.Dating 3.Ale Ale 4.Sa Re Ga Me 5.Boom Boom 6.Maro Maro I thought that was the most impressive track listing I¹ve ever seen till then. Upon my first hearing all the six songs sounded superb and I was in a fix to pick up one personal favorite.²AWESOME² ,that was all I could tell myself.. The following day I started reading the reviews on various websites each of them rating the Album as ***,**1/2 and some of them giving it a***1/2. And the reviews said that except for Sa Re Ga Me and Dating the rest of the album was mediocre and I was shocked.Only thing I said to myself then was just wait and see what the album would do for the film and the rest as you all know is history. Then comes the year 2004,though ARR had quiet a few releases that year the most awaited album of that year as we all know was Ayudha Ezhuthu or Yuva..I was so happy with this particular track listing because ARR¹s name appeared thrice as a singer in this album (in Tamil,Telugu and Hindi). And the critics as you would agree with me bashed both the music and the background score rating only Kabhi Neem Neem/Sankurathi Kozhi as the only hummable number and the rest as loud and noisy. Some geniuses went ahead and commented that ARR has hit his career low with his RR in this movie. But time disagreed and Fanaa, Dhakka Laga Bukka(Jana Gana Mana) and Anjaana(Nee yaaro) turned out to be favourites among most of the public. Come 2005,Mangal Pandey right from its release never found a praise from a single critic. We as fans disagreed but I want to share a personal experience of my own on this album. My uncle who is a severe critic of ARR personally went to Music World upon the release of this album just to listen to the title song which we all enjoyed the most and told me that his criticism about ARR was harsh and agreed with me upon this album saying no other composer would have done justice to such lyrics and could have brought such huge folklore into that album. Then I felt that if such a harsh critic like my uncle could have loved that album why bother about what critics have to say. Year 2006,saw ARR-Aamir back again with RDB.This album I thought would hit the right note with the critics upon the release of the first trailer of this movie which had the initial guitar bit from the title song.Once I heard that I couldn¹t stop my anxiety to listen to the full album. And believe me or not the reviews I read after the album came out were just indigestible. Some said the title song had Daler all over it, Masti Ki Paathshala was loud,Khalbali was confusing and they rated that an average album. But again time disagreed and as we all know ARR walked off with Filmfare Award the following year for this very album. Year 2007,guys Sivaji !Can you tell me of one review that spoke positivley about ARR¹s music upon its release. But the music broke all records and surprise, surprise!! ARR walks off with yet another Filmfare. Coming to 2008,forget the rest and coming straight to Ghajini. Mediocre,Passable,What¹s happened to ARR,Picked up an Anu Malik song et.Fish everything off guys. When ARR comes up with an album like Boys and Yuva they say,²music too noisy². Now when he comes up with something like Ghajini, what do they say, there is nothing like vintage ARR in it.C¹mon give me a break! The man¹s composed something that he felt just suited the script perfectly which most people from the south would know.So again I have this gut feeling that time would disagree with all these so called critics and prove the genius¹s genius again. And the most important of all, comparisons with the original version. Hear I would like to have a go at all of them who say that the original tops the remake. When we look at HJ¹s Ghajini I can challenge that the album had only 2 really good songs and the rest being below par.I take my stand on this. And coming to the BG it is very heavily inspired from ARR¹s own Gentleman and Maestro Illayaraja¹s works.Well I can¹t comment about ARR¹s BG as that can be done only on or after the 24th of December. I¹m not taking anything away from HJ.He¹s done justice to the movie. My only sincere plea to everyone listening to Ghajini is ³Don¹t rate it².It is one of the finest works by that great man and if there is a review that bashes this album just don¹t discuss it,ignore it.As I said time takes care of everything and

Gautham Rahman - One more! November 25, 2008 While Harris has gone on records about his rift with Gautham Menon and announced about his split with the director, the latter remained tightlipped about the whole issue. Soon enough, as if to acknowledge the split officially, Gautham has recently struck a deal with A R Rahman for his Telugu venture produced by the UTV Motion Pictures with Mahesh Babu in the lead. Kollywood sources predict that Gautham’s association with Rahman will continue in his future projects too. Rahman is also scoring for Gautham’s Chennayil Oru Mazhaikaalam, which is reportedly 60 per cent complete. It is to be noted that the recently released Vaaranam Aayiram has blockbuster music scored by Harris. http://www.behindwoods.com/tamil-movie-news-1/nov-08-04/gautham-rahman-25-11-08.html
[arr] I'm now liking L:atoo
I've let go of my snobbish thoughts about how ARR is supposed to sound like and just relaxed and enjoyed the tune and rhythm to Latoo. Know what? Had a great time! It's like a small party song with attitude and character, something I didn't feel in Shano Shano. Shreya sounds damn cute in this song and I can just imagine that she's singing and swaying to this song, hair bouncing up and down, smiling. ARR shows his brilliance here in a very different, light, fun hearted way, like a child having fun, as Mr. Sen pointed out earlier. Many think that each and every ARR compositon has to be serious and heavy, but I'm glad he is not predictable that way. You may not like this song for obvious reasons, but I urge you to just let inhibitions go for a minute while you listen and start grooving to this track. You might just enjoy it.
