SLA Scenario - how to setup

2007-01-16 Thread Števove Tomáš
Hello all,

I have problem how to setup SLA for this scenario:
Our supplier give us the time, when he delivery commodity. Our SLA goal is
supplier time + all 18 bussiness hours with case. We used SLA 6.0.

Because my english is not very good I write here example:
Bussiness time: Mo-Fr 8-17

1.) we receive case with priority Medium on Monday 11:00. (SLA start and SLA
Due Day is Wednesday 11:00)
2.) group A analyses case and finds out, that we need new component from our
supplier.
2.) Group A forward case to the group B on Tuesday 13:00
3.) Group B contacts supplier and supplier give us the time when he delivery
component.
4.) Group B setup supplier time in case for example Thursday 8:00.
5.) New SLA Due Day is - Thursday 15:00.
6.) Group B received component and return case to the group A. If group closed
case before Thursday 15:00, the SLA is met.

As you see new SLA Due Day after contact supplier is return as suppier time +
(18 hours - elapsed time).

My questions: is it possible to setup this scenario in SLA 6.0 and if yes, how
could I do that? Could it be setup in one SLA, or must be more SLA? How could I
setup Terms and Condition and Goal on SLA? Problem with Goal in SLA is, that
field is integer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Re: SLA Scenario - how to setup

2007-01-16 Thread brian . bishop
Hi Tomas,

The easiest solution for your example would be to set the SLA up to stop the
clock when the status of Pending is set. Then when Group B look at the case
they put it into Pending to stop the clock and leave it there until the
supplier delivers the part.

When it arrives take the case out of Pending and the SLA clock will start
again giving you what you need.

Your example is a classic case of when to use the stop the clock feature
in the SLA module.

This should be explained in the SLA users Manual.

Re: How do you stop ARS overriding Crystal parameters when runnin

2007-01-16 Thread Carter, Craig J Civ ARPC/DPD
This is normal when using the ARODBC driver. Your options are to either
pass the parameters from within Remedy when calling the report or use the
standard ODBC driver instead of the AR ODBC driver. If you go with the
standard connection, you'll have to do your own conversions for the database
fields (dates, etc).

When calling the report from Remedy, it's like performing an unqualified
search in that form.

I do have the same problem. After composing a new report and put in the

Would you give it a try by running the report via Mid-Tier in case

Best thing to do would be to export a data file from the Remedy User tool
into an XML format (as opposed to ARX). If you export data from the form
that you are trying to import into, you should get the exact format you
need.

Re: how should look like the XML file to import data in Remedy

2007-01-16 Thread Kelly Heikkila
The xml format needed for the import tool can be difficult to create,
particularly if you are taking an existing XML document and transforming
it via a stylesheet. The import tool relies on the ordering of field
values tied to the metadata about the form in the instance node.
Certainly not impossible, but can be difficult. Not sure your exact
specifics, but if your source application creates XML it may have a web
service capability, which you could publish from your ARServer. Another
option would be to use a different tool (besides the import tool) to
create your records. There is an open source/free tool from Kinetic
Data (where I work) called KLINK which takes a formatted XML document
and creates Remedy records (among other things). You can find info
here: http://www.kineticdata.com/link.html. There are also a bunch of
other XML tools with tons of postings on the list if you search around.

I am not doing retail however I will be adding facilities including funiture
and have decided to use the Equipment as the location in the CMDB to extend the
CDM. All of the input I have received is to either put everything new in one
area or as you may need for POS it may fit under Computer System. I would
recommend putting the new CIs under Equipment for better control.

Upgrading Remedy Server to 7.0.1 from 7.0.0 Patch 002

2007-01-16 Thread Terry Bootsma

Everyone:

I've just had the inconvenient luxury of trying to upgrade
Remedy Server to 7.0.1 from 7.0.0 Patch 002 (W2K03). LOTS
of error messages in the error logs, even though the
install completes. Most of the error logs are related to
duplicate active links not being overwritten, and
duplicate forms not being imported. However, the server
starts OK, tells me it is version 7.0.1, BUT... I'm
wondering if the install is complete.

One of the features that 7.0.1 is supposed to have (in
accordance to the release notes pg. 36) is the feature of
Platform Cache Memory Improvements. Apparently there is
supposed to be a new Disable Cache VUI Display
Properties on the Configuration Tab on the Server
Information Window. It does not appear for me. Does it
appear for anyone else who has installed from scratch?

Thanks for any help...

I do have the Disable Cache VUI Display Properties checkbox.

Not sure of a solution to your problem though, other than a clean install.

What version admin tool are you using?

I have one 7.0.01 server installed clean and another I upgraded from 7.0

and then I get lucky. The 7.0.01 Admin Tool has the new checkbox, but
make sure you uninstall the 7.0 Admin Tool before installing the 7.0.01
- they do not overwrite/upgrade properly and the docs warn about that.

There are two certs currently, and more (maybe) on the way. The RAC (Remedy

for many years. Remedy, I think, is planning several more of the skilled
practitioner type of certs for ITSM, but I don't know when that will
happen, or even for sure if it will.

ITIL, at least at the foundation level, is almost becoming an essential.
Some Java or XML skill is very helpful. Beyond that, it's just about
experience with certain aspects of Remedy.

Hi Scott,

As a Remedy Skilled Professional (not sure about RACs), you do get discounts
on BUW/RUG (free pre-conference tutorials) and discounts on continuing

she can provide all the details.

Hope that helps!

Approved Consultant) and RSP (Remedy Skilled Professional) have been
around
for many years.

Hi, List

Anyone ever hear of any certifications you can obtain for admin/dev of
Remedy?!! I'm going to classes, but can't believe there are no certs you
can get.

What related certs have you persued?...i.e., such as ITIL
certification...and what else do you think is important to possess out
there
in the Remedy job market?

Re: Upgrading Remedy Server to 7.0.1 from 7.0.0 Patch 002

2007-01-16 Thread Terry Bootsma
Thanks for the Admin tool tip. I was running the old
7.0.0 Patch 002 version. It shows up in the new
version... Thanks

However... still in the upgrade pit There is a fair
bit of customization done to the 7.0.0 patch 002 version
that I don't really want to re-do (things like CMDB
sub-classing, etc that cannot easily be re-invented
through importing workflow) :-)

Re: When is TR valid

2007-01-16 Thread Opela, Gary L Contr OC-ALC/ITMA
I stay away from TR because of the two points below pointed out by everyone
else:

TR.Field = $NULL$ if the field is blanked out
TR.Field != $NULL$ If field is pushed the same value to itself

The two above points have caused too much heartache, so I stay away.

However, LJ pointed out that if you are doing

'TR.Status' = Fixed AND 'DB.Status' != Fixed

Then using TR will save you a database call if there is no transaction value
to start out with. This is very interesting.

Thanks for pointing this out LJ, and redeeming some of the usefulness of TR.

LJ,

While all three of your bullets produce the same results, the first one is
the simplest. For me, the thing that put the final nail in the coffin on
the TR value was learning that if a field is used in a PushField, it will
have a TR value for that transaction, regardless if the value changed
(which is probably why Mike's filter was firing for no apparent reason.
Of course, maybe his workflow is using Verizon math... lol).

 'Status' = Fixed AND 'DB.Status' != Fixed
Yes...you do but I believe the difference between the two qualifications
is the very important 3rd bullet. check the value for the transaction
first and then check the database if a new value is not found in the
transaction. If no transaction value exists...you don't care what the DB
value is if your looking for when the value changes...so I think it removes
the 'else' statement from the usage without the TR.
This is the Performance Considerations argument. However, any trip to
the database should be inconsequential compared to the accuracy achieved by
not using the TR value. Think of how many filters you have that don't
involve a TR value - each of those are causing the same trip to the
database (all else being equal) that is alluded to above.

In the time it took me to respond, there were a couple of other posts
demonstrating how dicey it can be to use a TR value. Not using it avoids a
lot of headaches, and keeps the code easier to read. All in all, I haven't
seen where the extra complication is needed.

First...some excerpts from the manuals

* To check the value for the transaction only, enter the field name as

Plusif I remember correctly from Performance and Tuning class back in
the 4.x days then Remedy will stop processing a qualification on the first

even checks the second half of the qualification...which saves another call
all together:)

Helpdesk 4.0.3 --- 7.x

2007-01-16 Thread James Pifer
We're currently running ARS 6.3 and Helpdesk 4.03. I'm looking at
upgrading to version 7 for both ARS and Helpdesk and I've been in
discussion with a consulting firm to do it.

To make a long story short they are saying that BMC recommends we bring
up a new system and start using it fresh. Keep the old system up for
history, and until all tickets are closed on that system.

We have over 180K tickets and I don't think this will fly well at my
company. We are planning to bring up a new system, and then migrate, or
even re-write, customizations and workflow.

I realize that the data structures have changed A LOT, but they're
saying it will take 3-6 months to bring the data over from the old
system to the new one. That seems like a long time to me.

Without having detailed information, anyone have any opinions or ideas?

Thanks,
James

Malloc Error

One of our servers have developed a Malloc Error (ARERR 300) whenever we

any issues but the error has been hitting us since yesterday. No other

We are using a Windows 2003 Server with MSSQL 2005 with 4 GB of RAM. Our

Does anyone have any ideas why this error is happening?

Thanks Chris;

I was able to get both versions of the admin tool
installed and running, however, since I have multiple
versions of ARS on my machine, I simply installed it into
another directory and it worked fine. I guess the problem
is when you want to upgrade the admin tool in place that
you need to uninstall the admin tool first

Thanks..

Create a new form that will hold the historical data and then do an import of

have created a new install of 7 and transferring/creating the customizations.
Also in reviewing new capabilities we have found some of their customizations
are now included.

Technical Bulletin

Daylight Saving Time (DST) and BMC® Remedy® Action
Request System®

Version 7.0.01
January 2007

BMC Software is alerting users of the BMC Remedy Action Request System
(AR System®) product to a problem that can occur if the product runs on
computers that use the time zones of the United States and Canada. The problem
results from changes to the Daylight Saving Time (DST) dates in the United
States
and Canada. This technical bulletin describes patches and upgrade paths that
prevents the problem from occurring. The bulletin also contains information
about
the effects of not patching or upgrading systems.

NOTE

For more information about how this DST issue affects BMC products (including
required upgrades and other instructions), see the Customer Support website at
http://www.bmc.com/supportu/DST2007. Information on the website is updated as
necessary. Check it regularly for the latest information.

BMC product support of the DST changes is subject to all required upgrades and
instructions, existing license and support agreements, and the disclaimers in
the
related DST documents, including, among others:

. Full DST support of systems and software provided by the customers

. Monitoring any new DST information from BMC

. Performing the actual clock changes subject to BMC instructions and customer
site practices

Legislation in the United States and Canada changed the dates for Daylight
Saving
Time (DST). The following changes take effect in 2007:

. DST will begin on the second Sunday in March instead of the first Sunday in
April.

. DST will end on the first Sunday in November instead of the last Sunday in
October.

In 2007, DST will start on March 11 instead of April 1 and end on November 4
instead of October 28. On computers that use the time zones of the United
States
and Canada, processing might be incorrect between March 11 and April 1, 2007,
and between October 28 and November 4, 2007. During these periods, AR System
might show incorrect time stamps on screens and reports, web service
integrations
might process the time incorrectly, workflow processed on the mid tier may be
one
hour off, and export/import of applications may not capture the correct time.
These issues are detailed below. Until you correct the problem, similar errors
will
occur each year.

To correct the problem, use the instructions provided in this technical
bulletin to
apply a product patch or upgrade the product to a new release.

Based on the latest information from testing, all versions of AR System will be
impacted by the DST change. Patches that contain corrections for this DST event
will be provided for AR System 6.03 and AR System 7.0.01. These patches will be
made available in the Remedy Heritage Customers Patch Download section of BMC
Support Central. The patch numbers and release dates for each version are:

 List,

I search my local ARS List emails regularly. However, it's somewhat
slow
searching the email body within Outlook. For Jan 2005 to Jan 2007 the
.pst
 file is 700MB.

I am getting close to simply writing something that extracts the
Outlook
emails and imports them into a database (either Remedy, SQL Server, or
Access) just so I can moreefficiently search the ARS List
postings. When the data is in a regular database I can index
everything.

Before I head down this road has anyone else done this?

I have been informed that I will supporting Remedy in our environment.

There was no knowledge transfer from the outgoing Admin. Nor did they keep
documentation.

There will be no training class, the only thing that has been said is we
might get a contractor to show me around.

The question I have is what would be the best way to come up to speed with
this application?
I have been reading the manuals and searching through what documentation we
have.

Could anyone provide a good way to come up to speed quickly.

Thanks for the help I think I am going to need all I can get.

PS. I don't even have the client yet. Only the web front end. I think we
are on version 6 but I don't know what our patch level is.

Is there a Remedy Admin guide for dummies?

Re: Daylight saving time Technical Bulletin for AR System 6.0.1, 6.03 and 7.0.01

2007-01-16 Thread Lucero, Michelle - IST contractor
Thank you so much for updating us, David. We really appreciate it.

We all know that the compatibility matrix allows the 7.0.x Mid-Tier to
point to an ARS 6.3 server.

But, do you know if the DST patches were tested in mixed environments as
well?

In particular Mid-Tier 7.0.01 Patch 1(DST) against ARS 6.3 Patch 20(DST)
and Flashboards 6.3 patch 20?
There always seems to be some slight incompatibility issues, especially
when it comes to Flashboard 6.3 qualifications and Mid-Tier 7.x.x

Thanks,

Whoa,

I just noticed something kind of wicked that I could have sworn wasn't
there before. Flashboard 6.3 is NOT compatible with Mid-Tier 7.0.1.
I'm pretty sure that when Mid-Tier 7.0.0 was listed there was a Yes

With that said, does this mean we can't stay on Mid-Tier 7.0.0 with some
DST patch?

2007-01-16 Thread Easter, David
Yes, you still need to patch Remedy. The issues outlined in the
bulletin were documented on a fully DST patched Operating System.

The reason is that there are places in the product that do not use the
operating system for DST calculations but rather use a 3rd party
library. The Remedy patches update this library with the DST 2007

Two versions of ARS (5.1 and 7.0.01) and ITSM (4.0 and 7.0.02) on same UNIX box

2007-01-16 Thread Eric Zhang
We are exploring possibility of running two versions of ARS (5.1 and
7.0.01) instances and ITSM applications (4.0 and 7.0.02) on the same UNIX
box.

Old System:

ARS 5.1
Help Desk 4.0 (customized)
Change 4.0 (customized)
Database: Oracle 9.2 instance on another UNIX server

New System:

ARS: 7.0.01
CMDB 2.0.01
Service Desk 7.0.02
Change 7.0.02
Asset 7.0.02
Database: Oracle 10gR2 instance will be on another UNIX server

Server OS: Solaris 9

We want to install and run the new system on the same box (Solaris 9) as
the old system. We will keep the two systems running concurrently for a
while (i.e., a few months). The old system will be configured not to allow
any new ticket to be created. Users can only update and close non-closed
tickets in the old system. Eventually the old system will be shut down.

Does anyone see any potential problem with this setting? Any suggestion is
appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

Tony, no dummies guide, but you will find this list to be a true goldmine
of information. Lots of folks here know what they are talking about. My
background was not IT when I started, and the folks on this list were able
to walk me through some pretty complicated issues. That said, you'll find
Remedy to be a pretty simple application at the basic level. As you get
more and more familiar, you'll find that it is one of the most flexible
things you can put your hands on!

Good luck, and don't sweat it!

I have been reading the manuals and searching through what documentation

Could anyone provide a good way to come up to speed quickly.

Thanks for the help I think I am going to need all I can get.

PS. I don't even have the client yet. Only the web front end. I think

Re: UPDATE: Daylight saving time Technical Bulletin for AR System 6.0.1, 6.03 and 7.0.01

2007-01-16 Thread Caressimo Jr., Anthony
Hi all:

To further add to Michelle's question - We are running AR6.3 p 18 / Mid
tier 7.0.0 patch 002 - Do
We need to patch both the Midtier and ARS Server to comply with the DST
patch? Or can
We just update to 6.3 p 20 and continue to run on Mid Tier 7.0.0 patch
002?

Reason I ask is because the latest Mid Tier release prompts a guest user
message as javascript alert (ARWARN [59] No such user exists --
successfully connected as a guest user :username) - same message as user
tool when logging in.

We have a script that automatically passes the username to remedy to
login, and it doesn't display this message on earlier mid tier releases.
This message confuses users when submitting tickets to our servicedesk -
anyone know where this message resides either in a filter or active
link?

All these users have records in the people form, but not in user form -
the user form should only have licensed support users correct?

Thanks for the help!!

Sometimes, I really need to take a deep breath before I click send.

I would like to retract the last statement. It's ARS 7.0.1 that FB 6.3
is not compatible with.

So, back to my original question.
Do you know if the DST patches were tested in mixed environments as

Thank you in advance,
Michelle

Whoa,

I just noticed something kind of wicked that I could have sworn wasn't
there before. Flashboard 6.3 is NOT compatible with Mid-Tier 7.0.1.
I'm pretty sure that when Mid-Tier 7.0.0 was listed there was a Yes
listed in the compatibility matrix.

With that said, does this mean we can't stay on Mid-Tier 7.0.0 with some
DST patch?

We all know that the compatibility matrix allows the 7.0.x Mid-Tier to
point to an ARS 6.3 server.

2007-01-16 Thread Matt Reinfeldt
Thad,

I've run into that type of monitoring before. It can, unfortunately, run
both ways. I've been in places where it took forever to get permission to
receive ARSList e-mails to a work account as well as places that were very
strict on internet web-browsing (even for work purposes).

As stated earlier, it's really an individual preference... there is no
best format. I will continue to archive them (ARSList e-mails) in my
forums (though I am sorely behind!) as well as participate in the e-mail
exchanges.

Take care,

There are two certs currently, and more (maybe) on the way. The RAC (Remedy

for many years. Remedy, I think, is planning several more of the skilled
practitioner type of certs for ITSM, but I don't know when that will
happen, or even for sure if it will.

ITIL, at least at the foundation level, is almost becoming an essential.
Some Java or XML skill is very helpful. Beyond that, it's just about

Tony, no dummies guide, but you will find this list to be a true
goldmine of information. Lots of folks here know what they are talking
about. My background was not IT when I started, and the folks on this list
were able to walk me through some pretty complicated issues. That said,
you'll find Remedy to be a pretty simple application at the basic level. As
you get more and more familiar, you'll find that it is one of the most
flexible things you can put your hands on!

Good luck, and don't sweat it!

There was no knowledge transfer from the outgoing Admin. Nor did they

There will be no training class, the only thing that has been said is we

The question I have is what would be the best way to come up to speed

AR Import 6.3 P18,19 - Validation Can Happen with Perseverance

2007-01-16 Thread Lucero, Michelle - IST contractor
Hi, Folks:

In the fixes for patch 20, the following bug fix reversion is listed.
SW00251512 -- User tool reports from our server have bad text wrap
characters in CSV file format. (Reverted the fix for #226412 (\n
cannot be recognized with Import Tool) from import tool which caused bad
text wrap characters in CSV file format.)

When I look up 226412, it has all of the related bugs that I've been
reporting about the 6.3 P19 import Tool. Since, I was previously told
that the broken code that was put into Patch 18 and Patch 19 was
considered to be a fix, I had lost all hope of ever having an Import
Tool that could:

1. Import a CSV file with large text cells that might include returns
(this has nothing to do with Excel)
2. Import a CSV file and successfully use Define Fallback Mapping on
core fields.

I've called Tech Support again to ask if the fix included in patch 20
was related. It has finally been acknowledged after MONTHS, that this
these import issues are indeed a defect! Item 2 directly above, was the
original issue reported on 6.3 P12 back on May 1, 2006. That was fixed
in a limited release patch 17. Defect Number 1 was introduced with P18
and P19.

The Best News is that this is FINALLY going to be fixed!

Here are more defects related to this issue:
SW00252110 Import Tool 6.3patch18 fails to recognize carriage returns as
part of the record data. Works with Import Tool 6.3patch16
SW00256959 ARIMPORT: 6.3 P19 Cannot import a .CSV with carriage
returns successfully

I once had a problem with the REPLACE function of Set fields that worked a
little differently on the Client tool than it did in the Mid-Tier.. Are you
using this function in particular or any other function in your set field
operation? If so this must be resulting in a different output on the Mid-Tier
than it is in the client tool as a result of which some of your Mid-Tier
actions might be failing...

Cheers and I hope that helps.. Do write back with a little more information on
the other actions as to what exactly they are doing, and what functions they
might be using during the set field action...

Re: UPDATE: Daylight saving time Technical Bulletin for AR System 6.0.1, 6.03 and 7.0.01

2007-01-16 Thread Easter, David
The information provided is there to enable you to make the best
decision for your environment. The affected libraries are used by both
the server and Mid-Tier, although they are more heavily used by the
Mid-Tier. Ultimately, each customer must review the information
provided and make a decision based on how the customer's environment
will be affected vs. the time and effort necessary to apply the patches.
Obviously, BMC's recommendation will be to load the patches.

In terms of a 7.0.00 Mid-Tier, the recommendation from BMC is to move
the Mid-Tier to AR System 7.0.01 and apply patch 001 because there is no
patch for AR System 7.0.00. Were you to stay on Mid-Tier 7.0.00 Patch
002, you would encounter the issues listed in the Technical Bulletin
that affect the Mid-Tier.

In a mixed environment, the recommendation would be to patch both the
Mid-Tier and Server with the appropriate files from patches. In other
words, if you are running a Mid-Tier of 7.0.01 and an AR System Server
of 6.03, load AR System 7.0.01 Patch 001 on the server and AR System
6.03 Patch 020 on the Mid-Tier (just like you'd do for any other patch).

Hi all:

To further add to Michelle's question - We are running AR6.3 p 18 / Mid
tier 7.0.0 patch 002 - Do We need to patch both the Midtier and ARS
Server to comply with the DST patch? Or can We just update to 6.3 p 20
and continue to run on Mid Tier 7.0.0 patch 002?

I would like to retract the last statement. It's ARS 7.0.1 that FB 6.3
is not compatible with.

So, back to my original question.
Do you know if the DST patches were tested in mixed environments as
well?

In particular Mid-Tier 7.0.01 Patch 1(DST) against ARS 6.3 Patch 20(DST)

There always seems to be some slight incompatibility issues, especially
when it comes to Flashboard 6.3 qualifications and Mid-Tier 7.x.x

Thank you in advance,

I'm pretty sure that when Mid-Tier 7.0.0 was listed there was a Yes

With that said, does this mean we can't stay on Mid-Tier 7.0.0 with some

when it comes to Flashboard 6.3 qualifications and Mid-Tier 7.x.x

Thanks,

How to get around the lack of API libraries for solaris_x86?

2007-01-16 Thread Nicoll, Alan
We are moving our target OS from Solaris Sparc to Solaris_x86 and our build
scripts need to talk to Remedy but alas, the API libraries as compiled for
Solaris Sparc do not work on Solaris_x86. Can anyone suggest a better
workaround than using another server as an 'application' server to run the
API apps?

That is a possibility.. REPLACE has similar problems with the replacement of
certain characters like the carriage return...

I hope they find a fix for you...

You could alternatively meanwhile try resorting to Direct SQL as a solution..

Joe , remedy logged this issue as defect. I guess just like REPLACE , MAX is
also having problems in Mid Tier. Probably I should have avoided it in my

Joe, actually I have a form which drives the impact, urgency and priority in
Help desk form. There is set of questioners which drives those impact, urgency
and proirity.Highest of any values should decide the above fields. so if a user
selects the questioner suppose field A with value 0 , if this is the case I am
setting a value in temp field and then using MAX function to find out the
maximum value for each questions. Suppose in this case if MAX values is 40 ,
then I am setting a impact field as Critical. So I am only using MAX function
and all other AL's are just simple set field.
I took a log in Mid Tier and found out that the AL which has MAX function
didn't fire. I raised a ticket with remedy and they are working on it :)

Thanks for suggestion...I appreciate it...let me know if you faced a similar

I once had a problem with the REPLACE function of Set fields that worked a
little differently on the Client tool than it did in the Mid-Tier.. Are you
using this function in particular or any other function in your set field
operation? If so this must be resulting in a different output on the Mid-Tier

Cheers and I hope that helps.. Do write back with a little more information on

There are several known issues with Mid-Tier (cache ID reuse before

Invalid password for user ABC.

This does NOT mean you got into the system, but got a response that
some form of ID seems to exist.

Certain security classes will actually tell you it is GOOD to provide
the response seeming that the Account exists but password is invalid,
which is easier to detect, because a true h4x0r will then use that

Is this something to worry about - definitely not. IMHO...

That is why we use at the web-server Integrated Windowz

Re: Remedy Vulnerability

2007-01-16 Thread Axton

Unfortunately, the description does not state that the method used to
enumerate an accounts list is based on a failed login attempt, though it
does seem to imply it. When I see the word enumeration, I think more along
the lines of Windows 2000 account enumeration using null sessions. In the
case of W2k, a full list of accounts can be enumerated (retrieved in their
entirety) using a null session against an AD server as well as a
workstation.

See http://www.minasi.com/newsletters/nws0312.htm for what I think of when I
see 'account enumeration'

Frankly, the other item on the arswiki page concerning remote admin access
using a built-in password on misconfigured servers concerns me much more
than this.

Re: Work Flow not working in Mid-tier

2007-01-16 Thread Thad Esser
Its been a while since I had this issue (although it was MT 6.3), and
depending on what you are doing, this may or may not apply. An example
probably describes the issue best:

FormA opens Dialog Box B.
Dialog Box B has a Results field which is an enumerated field (0=OK,
1=Cancel).
On Commit and Close of the Dialog box, the Results field is returned to a
zTemp character field on FormA.

In the user tool, the integer value for the Results field is set in zTemp,
e.g 0 or 1.
On the Mid-Tier, the character alias is returned, e.g. OK or Cancel.

Either that or it was the other way around. Anyway, one returned the
number, the other returned the char. The point being, if you then used
the zTemp field in an ActiveLink Run-If, it'll work in the client, but not
the web. Which is your symptom.

I'm not sure if they ever fixed that, but it might give you something to
look at.

Remedy Asset Configurations

2007-01-16 Thread Abdul Baytops
Hello All,

Problem: I have some data that I am trying to import into the
AST:Configurations form to create some configuration and item records. The
data I am importing will all import correctly expect for the Estimated
Price. When I perform the import all records are imported successfully. I
view the AR log file and I also see that the amount for the estimated price
was pushed to the correct field. At this point all the data is in the AR
System until I open the AST:Configuration form in search mode and select a
specific configuration in which it then performs the Estimated Price Roll-up
and will overwrite all the item records associated with that configuration
with amount of $0.00 in place of what was imported. Does anyone have any
suggestions or can tell me another way to import a large amount of data into
the AST:Configuration form.??

Thanks in advance

Mid Tier vs User Tool Calculation difference?

2007-01-16 Thread Wheeler, Dylan
Hi Listers,
I'm having a problem with a calculation I'm doing. I'm using an AL set
field to do a calculation and set a real number field that is set to a
precision of 2. The user tool calculates the right value but it looks
like the mid tier rounds the value to the nearest whole number. The
calculation is like this
(((19.2300 * .04) * 1.00) + 19.2300) * 2080.08
User tool comes out with 41599.94 and mid tier comes out with 41600.00

Anyone run into this before or know what to do to correct it?
