[AsburyPark] Re: Happy ~MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND~

2007-05-29 Thread Jim

--- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, 2fine4u [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, to all our Veterans. Monday, Americans will
pause to remember Veterans, from ALL wars. I can't help, but think of
the Poem, In Flanders Fields and the wearing of the Poppy, the
Memorial Flower. If you see a Veteran, with a bunch of red paper
poppies, please give a donation. The funds, from the donations, are
used to fund coffee parties at the VA Hospitals, in East Orange, Essex
County, Lyons, in Morristown, Veterans Haven, in Cumberland, Creative
Arts Festival, for disabled veterans and many other worthy causes, for
veterans or the families of veterans. Moina Belle Michael,
(8/15/1869-5/10/1944), also known as The Poppy Lady, initiated the
use of The Flanders Field Poppy, while serving in the overseas, YMCA
War Workers Hamilton Hall, Columbia University, New York City, when
the idea came to her, on Saturday, before Armistice, Nov. 9, 1918.
She resolved to wear a red poppy, of Flanders Fields as a sign of
remembrance and tribute to all who died in Flanders Fields and in the
war. Through this idea, the Poppy became universal and permanent, in
the national life of the English Speaking world, as a Memorial Symbol,
to the men who died for their country.

On August 12, 1920, at the Georgia Convention of the State Department
American Legion, the Poppy, was a dopted as the Memorial Flower and on
September 29, 1920, it was adopted by The National American Legion.
In 1921, The American Legion Auxiliary, was organized and they too,
adopted the Poppy, as their Memorial Flower. In May, 1940, The
National Executive Committee, of The American Legion, as recognition
for the benefits resulting from Miss Michael's idea, voted her a
Citation for Distinguished Service. Miss Michael, was born near Good
 Hope, in Walton County, Georgia.

This Poppy fact, is being furnished, because a veteran, interviewed by
the Coaster, didn't know the origin, of his own Memorial Flower. The
Poppy Chairmanship, was the very first committee, I chaired, 20 years
ago, when I joined Frederick Dempsey Post 266. The Post, was
chartered in Asbury Park, in 1922, after Frederick Dempsey, an Asbury
Park resident, of Embury Ave., now a part of Neptune Township.

He died in 1918, fighting in France and is buried, in hallowed ground.
Every year, a wreath, is placed on his grave, with the use, of Poppy
funds. If anyone goes to Veterans' Park on 5th Ave., the Post, has a
placque, among all the others and until 2002, was still chartered, in
Asbury Park. Post 266, is the host of the Memorial Day Parade and
refreshments, will be served afterwards, at 240 Drummond Ave.,
 Neptune. All are invited!

White teacher taught lesson in racial double standard
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 05/17/07
 Story Chat Post Comment

In a new twist in American race relations, a federal court has ruled
that a white teacher in a predominantly black school was subjected to
 a racially hostile workplace.

The case concerned Elizabeth Kandrac, who was routinely verbally
abused by black students at Brentwood Middle School in North
Charleston, S.C.. Their slurs make shock jock Don Imus look like a
 church deacon.

Nevertheless, despite frequent complaints, school officials did
nothing to intervene on Kandrac's behalf, arguing that the racially
charged profanity was simply part of the students' culture. If Kandrac
couldn't handle cursing, school officials told her, she was in the
 wrong school.

Kandrac finally filed a complaint with the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and subsequently brought a lawsuit
against the Charleston County School District, the school's principal
and an associate superintendent. Last fall, jurors found that the
school was a racially hostile environment to teach in and that the
school district retaliated against Kandrac for complaining about it.

The defendants sought a new trial, but U.S. District Judge David C.
Norton recently affirmed the verdict. However, he did not support the
jury's findings of $307,500 in damages for lost income and emotional
 distress.

Although Kandrac clearly suffered — she was suspended from her job
shortly after a story about her EEOC complaint appeared in the local
newspaper, and her contract was not renewed — her case didn't meet
evidentiary requirements for damages. The judge said a new trial would
have to determine damages, but the school district and Kandrac settled
 for $200,000.

While the dollars-and-cents issue may have been of paramount
importance to school and district officials — and would have lent heft
to the verdict — the more compelling issue for students, parents and
society is the idea that a particular group of people can be allowed
to behave in a grossly uncivil and threatening way by virtue of their
 racial culture.

The key legal question was whether a school could be held responsible
for students' behavior. In this case, the black children of Brentwood
had been given a pass for their behavior because vulgar language was
 considered normal for their culture.

Defense attorney Alice Paylor told jurors that the kids heard this
same language at home and there was no magic pill to make them
behave. Paylor is probably right about that, though a magic paddle
 might have worked wonders.

Back in the day, if a student talked the way these did, he or she
would have received a well-deserved thwack, been suspended and sent
home to face the wrath of his or her father. That process likely would
have put a swift end to the tribal tyranny now often tolerated in the
 service of self-esteem.

Let's be clear: What these children called this teacher is beyond
reprehensible and could only be construed as hostile and threatening.
Other white teachers and students corroborated Kandrac's account,
including a male war veteran who testified he would rather return to
 Vietnam than to Brentwood.

Kandrac's attorney, Larry Kobrovsky, argued that the repeated use of
white made these slurs racist in nature. But school officials
insisted that because black students were equally abusive to other
blacks, the language wasn't inherently racist.

Here's what we know without question: If majority white students had
used similar language toward black students and teachers, the case
would have been plastered on the front page of The New York Times
 until heads rolled.

A black Kandrac would have a million-dollar book deal, a movie
contract and hundreds of interviews to juggle. Her oppressors and
those who passively facilitated her abuse would have been pilloried by
the media — their faces all over the evening news — while the
reverends Al and Jesse organized protests.

But a white Kandrac — who faced a daily barrage of insults, who had
books and desks thrown at her and her bicycle tires punctured — was
treated like an incompetent wimp. She was just a lousy teacher out for
 money, the defense attorney said.

Though Kandrac lost her job, the real losers are the children deprived
of an education by the actions of a tyrannical few. And the worst
racists are those teachers and administrators who denied these
empowered brats the expectation of civilized behavior.

May the rest of America now be emboldened to act decisively in the
 interest

[AsburyPark] Letter from our Past about Convention Hall

2007-04-07 Thread Jim
Back in Oct 2004 there wasn't a Flag flying on C/H at times. There was alot
going in Asbury Park on our Waterfront. Then on Nov.26 the Flag went up upside
down by mistake while going over plans with our City Manager others on the
Sunset Lake Veterans Memorial that John Lofferdo got a grant for.The C/M said
you are being surrendered to.It was put right side up rigt away.Ever since then
there has been one up except for a few times.Because of High Winds. After I
connected Larry Fishman.

Theres still alot going in Asbury Park just like our Armed Forces. But we still
have the Fireman that goes in a burning buiding,to the Police Officer that put
his life on the line every day,to the citzen that goes out to make this town
better by donating time from working a election,planting a flower,having a
benifit for a special cause, working or coming to a City Meeting to make there
town better by saying how they feel it should be there is alot of ways people
what this town to come back to.Also by people working on
(planing,council,school boards).All this makes our ~RED,WHITE BLUE~ what it
stands for FREEDOM that comes at a high price at times to a solider not
coming home or comingdifferant for the rest of there lifes.

Also to the Fireman Police Officer not coming home they are forgotten about
our 1st line of defense on our homefront.I would like to Thank Asbury Partners
for flying our Flag that gives our FREEDOM we all have today.Next time you look
up at our Waterfront Flagpole it alot of You is what its stands for.Wishing all

[AsburyPark] Dinner to Honor Mr. Frank Budd

2007-01-17 Thread Jim Keady
Dear Constituents,

I am writing to invite you to take part in honoring Mr. Frank Budd,
arguably, the greatest athlete to ever grace the Asbury Park athletic scene.

Many of you may be aware that on October 30, 2006 the Asbury Park Board of
Education passed a resolution naming the Asbury Park High School Track and
Field Oval after Mr. Budd. In light of this action, on February 23rd a
dinner will be hosted by the Shore Athletic Club at the Jumping Brook
Country Club in Neptune, NJ, with proceeds benefiting the Frank Budd
Memorial Scholarship and to help erect a monument in Mr. Budd’s honor at the
Asbury Park High School Stadium.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Mr. Budd’s athletic
accomplishments, Frank graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1958.
During his time as a Blue Bishop, Frank was a member of the Varsity
Basketball Team, was a First Team All-State Football player, and an
All-American Track and Field performer.

Frank attended Villanova University on a full athletic scholarship and was a
three time NCAA track champion. He participated in the 100 and 200 yard
dashes, the 4x100, 4x200 and the mile relay. In 1960, while still a student
at Villanova, Frank made the United States Olympic Team and competed in the
Olympic Games in Rome, Italy in the 100 yard dash, for which he was a
finalist, and as a member of the 4 x 100 relay team.

In 1962 Frank broke the 20-year-old 100 yard dash record of 9.3 seconds by
running a new world record of 9.2 seconds. After this feat, Frank Budd was
dubbed “The Worlds Fastest Human Alive.”

After Frank’s graduation from Villanova University in 1962, he played
professional football for the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and
did a stint in the Canadian Professional Football League. Frank has since
been selected by the Asbury Park Press as “Athlete of the Century” and was
inducted into the Asbury Park High School distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame
in 2003.

Given all his accomplishments it is clear why we should honor Mr. Budd and
hold him up as a role model for our children in Asbury Park. You can
participate in honoring him in the following ways. First, you can attend the
event on February 23rd. Tickets are $75 each. Second you can purchase an ad
in the ad booklet for the event. Prices are as follows:

¼ Page $60
½ Page $90
Full Page $110
Full Page Inside Front Cover $150
Full Page Inside Back Cover $150
Full Page Back Cover $150
Supporters Page Listing $10 individual/$15 couples

There are also corporate ticket packages available.

Blue Package - $750
5 tickets to the dinner
1 Full Page Ad
Company banner displayed at the dinner

Black Package - $425
3 tickets to the dinner
1 Full Page Ad

For more information or to purchase tickets or ads, please contact Mr. John
Morton at 732.361.7051.

I am hopeful that you will join us in supporting the effort to honor Mr.
Budd and I look forward to seeing you at the dinner.

[AsburyPark] A recent OP/ED I had published in the TriCity News

2006-12-04 Thread Jim Keady
Dear Constituents,

Below is an Op/Ed of mine that was published on Thursday in the TriCity
News. It is a response to Mr. Jacobsen’s recent piece about me titled,
“Idealist Becomes the Demagogue.”

I have posted it on my blog at www.keadyreport.blogspot.com and I welcome
comments there.

Peace,

James W. Keady
Councilman, City of Asbury Park, NJ

GET THE FACTS BEFORE YOU WRITE
By Councilman James W. Keady

In the November 16th issue of the TriCity News, TCN Publisher, Dan Jacobson
authored a story titled, “Idealist Becomes the Demagogue,” commenting on an
event that took place at the November 13th Asbury Park City Council Meeting.
He called me a slew of nasty names and leveled some serious charges against
me. What he failed to tell his readers is that he was not in attendance at
the Council meeting in question.

In fact, all of Mr. Jacobson’s information from that evening came from
secondhand sources. Unfortunately, I am not surprised by this because Mr.
Jacobson rarely attends City Council meetings and he usually reports the
majority of his “news” from secondhand sources.

Ok, so Dan could not make it to the meeting. He heard about what happened
and thought it worthy to write about. Given this, did he do what any
fair-minded journalist would do and reach out to me to confirm his “facts”
or to seek comment or clarification from me on what he was “reporting”?

No.

What Mr. Jacobson did was print false information and extrapolated his
lengthy opinion from it, misinforming and misleading his readership in the
process.

When I read the article, I called Dan and asked him why he did not reach out
to me to confirm that he had the facts correct given that he was not at the
meeting. And he said:

“My deadline was too tight for me to call you.”

His deadline was too tight for him to call me.

Let me give TCN readers a little background here. Dan Jacobson and I have a
fairly good rapport with each other and we have an ongoing dialogue on a
range of local and national political issues. He has my home phone number,
my cell phone number, and my work phone number, all of which he has used in
the past to call me about stories he is working on. Dan’s office is about
50 feet from mine – same building, same floor - and he stops by our office
regularly. And if I do not see Dan in the office, one of his favorite hang
out spots is directly across the street from my home.

Despite all this access and the fact that Dan was writing a story that was
focused on me and my statements at a City Council meeting, he never said a
word to me.

Now, do I expect Dan Jacobson or anyone for that matter to agree with
everything I say or do in my role as a Councilman in Asbury Park? Certainly
not, but what I do hope for is simple fairness and accuracy in reporting.

What would have been fair in this situation would have been for Dan to call
me and ask me direct questions about what transpired at the November 13,
2006 City Council meeting.

Here are my thoughts on how such a phone call might have gone.

BEGIN INTERVIEW

DJ: JIM, WHAT EXACTLY DID YOU PROPOSE AT THE COUNCIL MEETING REGARDING THE
WEST SIDE COMMUNITY CENTER?

During the public portion of the meeting, a significant number of residents
and community leaders shared their frustrations about the violence in our
streets and its impact on our young people.  To combat this problem, they
asked for the City Council to offer greater support to the West Side
Community Center.

In light of the issues they raised, I put a motion on the floor requesting
that the governing body earmark $100,000 in funding from our Community
Development and Affordable Housing Fund that could be made available for
infrastructure upgrades and programming at the West Side Community Center.
I also stated that in order for this money to be released, the West Side
Community Center would submit proposals to the City Council on how the money
would be used. The governing body would subsequently vote on which
proposals they would like to support.

Again, to be clear, I was not saying the money should go to the West Side
Community Center that night. I requested a firm and measurable commitment
of resources on the part of the City and a process by which those resources
could be allocated.

I was unable to garner a second for this motion.

DJ: DID YOU TALK ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH ANY OF YOUR FELLOW COUNCIL MEMBERS
PRIOR TO THE MEETING?

There has been the charge that I “blindsided” my colleagues with my request,
that I had never discussed this issue before.  On October 18, 2006, the day
that Tylik Pugh was shot, I discussed earmarking $250,000 in funds from the
Community Development and Affordable Housing Fund for community programs
with both the City Manager and the Mayor.  My proposal was similar to the
one I made on Monday night, that the funds would be set aside and that
community organizations like the West Side Community Center, the Boys and
Girls Club, the Salvation

Nice story. What does this or the other post have to do with AP?
Are you being patriotic? What have you done for a Veteran today?
Did you know that the Bush Administration, does all it can, to DE-
fund the Veterans? Have you read how the Vets down at Bethesda and
Walter Reed, have to PAY for their own expenses? Do you know how
much the American Legion and the VFW GIVE, to our veterans? Nice PR
and platitudes, Bush does when the cameras are turned on, but he
himself, has a checkered military record, which despite the secrecy
surrounding his OWN so-called duty, he's criticized Max Leland a
disabled Viet-Nam Veteran and has Christopher Smith, a NJ Republican,
taken OFF, as Chairman of Veterans Affairs and replaced by someone,
who will tow the Republican line, of Never serving and screwing
Veterans as much as they can get away with! Just some remarks from
the Chairman of Veterans Affairs for my organization. We never stop
helping or giving to our veterans. The State of NJ has just ended
our annual USO Holiday Drive, for Ft Dix and Maguire, as well as the
USO at the Philadelphia Int'l Airport. We also have had our second
annual Toys for the Deployed. We collect toys to be given to
children of the deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan for Make a
Difference Day. My Post has purchased 2000 Poppies for our annual
Memorial Day Drive to collect donations for the Veterans at Menlo
Park, Lyons and Veterans Haven, in Cumberland County, NJ. Did you
know that my Unit purchased a new bed last year, for a homeless
veteran, or that we purchased 30 motorized scooters, for disabled
veterans? This year we are purchasing 15 lounge chairs, to replace
the beaten up ones? It takes money to do these things, from the
meager donations, that most vets don't have. If you want to do
something for a veteran, you can contact me. Not asking, but we have
REAL issues going on, where veterans are concerned. 1 in 3 homeless
men, are veterans. Honor a vet, wear a poppy this year, during the
month of May. I plan on providing our City Council with them, this
year. John Loffredo, Ed Johnson, Mr. Bruno, Jim Keady and many other
concerned citizens, are always at the monument, on 5th Ave., when I
come with my Navy, Veteran husband, who is also retired from the
Army National Guard, to place our wreath and give memorial words to
the Catholic, Jewish, American Legion and the VFW, DAV and any other
veteran group that is there. You'll never see me critize those, that
honor our Vets! Thanks Jim, for all you do, to make sure Flags are
flying proper and respectful. Our colors don't RUN!

Thank You Sharon that means alot to me the Library Flag Pole is being fix the
cleat was just to low is going to be rasied. The Rope Flags was being taken in
past the Library did contact the VFW awhile back but they never got back in
touch with them.We have a new Chain of Command know things are differant we had
a pretty good turn out for Veterans Day the best one in awhile e SSG Craft is
doing better rasing 2 daughters on his own in case anyone is interested.March
11,2005 this town rock.It a real shame a solider has to get wounded to get some
Peace in this town.Everybody got along

Sorry I miss yours Veterans Day Sharon.

Some people take there FREEDOM for granted nothing good comes from a War
accept a lesson.People come back damage in alot differant ways then forgotten
about I see them around Asbury Park elsewhere thats when in come in to
help!!Tommy means well he came knocking on my door one day for a dinner tickets
for Jimmy's because what I do in town for the Veterans what everybody needs to
do is work together so we can get this town back on its feet.I known I going to
try my best to ignore the trouble makers just Move On in life. Sharon you
have a HEART of GOLD care alot about people it is a Honor to known You.Lets
not forget the Police Dep. Fire Dep. they have a thankless job until something
bad happens to one of them. That flying on our Waterfront is also for them just
like everyone else here. They also are willing to give there life with the job
they do.Just like Veteran.Garrett Gilberson Jr. I Apoloize if I get upset
with you your family in anyway.I take enough medicine from the the Veterans
Hospital to control my seizures with bad side effects. But me the Deputy Mayor
should be handled between us anyway I sorry. This Fire Dep. in town safe my life
several times with seizures sometimes what I have gets the best of me. I have

[AsburyPark] Proof or Retraction Mr. DeSeno

2006-11-13 Thread Jim Keady

Nice try. I mocked Keady, and plan to do so again,
for saying that the shooting wasn't criminal

Mr. DeSeno,

Your above statement is a lie. I NEVER said that the
shooting was not criminal. Provide clear evidence of me making this
statement VERBATIM or retract your comment. You are twisting words and insinuating
meaning in a libelous fashion.

For the benefit of others on this list, I have included the
entire article in question below. The comments that Mr. DeSeno is
referencing are as follows.

Earlier
in the week City Councilman James Keady said the shootings are not just a criminal problem but stem from
social issues. (emphasis mine) The roots of the problem are not
criminal, theyre social, he said. One of the underpinning
issues is poverty as well as a sense of hopelessness among young
African-American men in the city.

Mr.
DeSeno, again, you are lying and I expect either proof to the contrary or a
retraction of your statement.

Peace, James W. Keady

THE
COASTER

The city
of Asbury Park is reeling from several shootings in four days, one leaving a
teenager on life support at press time.

The
shootings, two of which took place during the day, all occurred within a
two-block radius near the Asbury Park Middle School and Bangs Avenue Elementary
School.

In the
most recent shooting Tylek Pugh, 18, was shot in the head at the corner of
Summerfield and Prospect Avenues at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Board of
Education President Robert DiSanto said all public schools in the district
would be closed today (Oct. 19).

We
are very concerned about our students; that is our primary concern, he
said. We need to work closer with the police and in that area. It has
happened too many times in that area.

Police
Inspector Christopher Van Buren was at the scene Wednesday afternoon and said
Pugh did not live in the neighborhood where he was shot, but was from the
general area.

Van Buren
said he knew Pugh, but did not know if he had prior arrests.

I
know who he is, said Van Buren.

The
inspector said he could not confirm that the shooting was gang related, but
said, Our guys are looking into it now.

The
shooting occurred within one block of the Middle School on Bangs Avenue.
Several police cars and officers were in the area at the time of the
schools dismissal, but Van Buren said students left the school without
incident.

There
were no problems, he said.

Two
residents at the scene said they did not see anything and a man
sitting on a porch outside the house on Prospect Avenue where the shooting took
place, said he did not want to comment as he strummed his guitar with his dog
nearby.

Fire
Official Garrett Giberson said the fire department responded to a call at 11:20
a.m. from the county 911 and Asbury Park Police Department that a man had been
shot.

They went
to Summerfield and Prospect Avenue and found the victim laying on the sidewalk
with a gunshot wound to the head.

They
administered CPR and transported the man to Jersey Shore University Medical
Center, where the trauma team was awaiting his arrival.

Giberson
said off-duty firemen were called into work to cover for those sent to the
crime scene.

Deputy
Mayor Jim Bruno said he did not know whether the shooting was gang related.

But
gangs have their own justice system and they dont help the authorities
when there are shootings, he said. The victims should help the
police but they dont and thats a big problem. They get mad and
then they get even. This is the time to act, not react. Whatever the deputy
chief thinks he needs, the council will be there to support him.

Wednesdays
shooting was at least the third and possibly the fourth since Sunday.

Asbury
Park Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office are investigating two
shootings which occurred in the city on Sunday, as well as reports of another
shooting which took place Tuesday.

The first
of the shootings occurred about 1 p.m. on Sunday on the 400 block of Comstock
Street. Jahmere Crooms, 18, was shot once in the shoulder and taken to Jersey
Shore University Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. The victims
last known address was in Asbury Park.

Crooms
gave city police very few details at the time of the incident, Det./Lt. David
Kelso said. As of Wednesday, no arrests had been made in the case but the
police are following leads, he said. The motive for the shooting is unknown as
of yet.

The
second incident took place Sunday evening, as shots were fired from outside
into the home at 612 Pine Street at 7:46 pm.

One of
the rounds hit the ceiling in the home and ricocheted into the head of a
19-year-old- man who had been standing in the living room, Kelso said.

The young
man was treated on-site for non-life threatening injuries. No arrests have been
made yet, nor has a motive been determined.

A report
of shots being fired in the 1300 block of Langford Avenue at about 4 p.m.
Tuesday is still being confirmed by police, Kelso said.

Monmouth County

[AsburyPark] CM Pallone and Asbury Park

2006-11-10 Thread Jim Keady

In response to Mr. DeSenos comment about CM
Pallone:

Has anyone ever seen him in Asbury, other than
Barney Frank visits and for Ranney School night?

Yes. I stood with him during the dedication of The
Center in October. He spent about an hour at The Center, toured the building,
spoke with citizens, etc. On that day let me know that he is willing and
wanting to discuss issues dealing with Asbury Park and told me to call him and
make an appointment to do so. Also, on October 17th he
and I were to meet with the principals of the Metro Homes project to discuss
the union/local workforce issues. Metro cancelled the meeting at the last
minute. I plan to request a new date from them soon.

I also plan to arrange a meeting with CM Pallone in
the coming weeks to discuss getting federal help for Asbury Parks
recreation, police, workforce development and economic revitalization efforts.
I certainly welcome additional suggestions for discussion from
constituents.

I hope this finds everyone enjoying this beautiful
day.

Ha Mr Perfect Roleover,

Trees was being talk about being planted around the City.I told them to keep it
away from flag poles. Then Burno made his remark about the flags being put on
trees. One of the problems in A/P when someone living here or owns something
needs something done by the City they have to do themselfs normally I thought
this is what a paid empolyee is for.The problem here the some paid employees do
what they what.Been like that for to many years needs to stop. Some employees
really bust there ass some sit on there ass.Sit there hide behide your computer
type. The Veterans donated alot of those trees that wasn't maintain for year
around Sunset Lake in the past the Foutain in the Lake that someone on this

Copied from Asbury Radio site. While I disagree with Ed that your
position as an elected official keeps you from talking about the 800-
lb gorilla in the room, I will say that Ed is a class act. Again, I

on getting Asbury Partners to meet its obligations rather than this
petulant act. What will people see when they come here? The truth.
They will see it with their own eyes no matter how much you try to
avoid it in the press. Now the press release.

PRESS RELEASE November 2, 2006 From Council member Ed Johnson

Today's Coaster Newspaper has run a front page story with comments
attributed to me that are incorrect. I do not call for, nor do I
endorse any call for Councilman Keady to resign his position and
leave town. My only comments with regard to this matter were to
refer all inquires to the UEZ Chairman and UEZ Director for specific
 details and further comment.

I do join in the principle concerns raised by the UEZ, other
Community Organizations and citizens with regard to the comments
that were made on an evening news cast by Councilman Keady. I
believe that they were indeed harmful to the forward progress and
coordinated effort that our business community has put forth to make
 Asbury Park a regional destination.

As a Councilman, I believe that we have a special responsibility to
protect and serve the positive interests of our community through
whatever challenges that we may encounter.

Your Deputy Mayor could use that advice he had nasty words for alot of people

means he hasn't been doing his job while he has been his postion letting it
grow like it did.Time for him to change that Flag on his truck also.He can
plant a tree but cannot get a tree trim says alot about him.And you are
bringing your family up.What nerve you have.Maybe him Deputy Mayor could
resign together. That might work for them.I am willing to go to Court over
this.I have the backing of many Veterans of the State of N.J.All this started
over a tree not being trim around a Flag Pole donated by Veterans in 1962 at

Terry Reidy said at the last Council meeting Garrett Gilberson {your father}
