Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2018-12-17 Thread JohnB

Replacememt "InguzDSP.exe.config" for LMS 7.9.2 (Sox 14.4)

When Inguz is used for DRC, if the sampling rate of the previously
selected impulse filter doesn't match the sampling rate of what is being
played - Inguz uses Sox to resample the impulse filter. For example, if
the impulse filter is 44.1kHz and one plays a 96kHz file, Inguz will
resample the impulse filter to 96kHz.

To do this Inguz uses, by default, the Sox "polyphase" parameter. This
is no longer supported by Sox 14.4 (installed by LMS 7.9.2). As a
result, when using LMS 7.9.2/Sox 14.4, the resampling will fail and DRC
will drop out.

The original -InguzDSP.exe- can be used with an amended
-InguzDSP.exe.config- file which includes a new "soxFmt" entry:

Code:

-(I did a test build of -InguzDSP.exe- which used an updated the Sox
command line. _That_is_no_longer_needed._)-

First save the existing "InguzDSP.exe.config" file to a safe place, as a
backup.

Copy the unzipped file to:

Windows 7
C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\

Ubuntu
\usr\sbin\

For Ubuntu, set the file as executable by:

Code:

sudo chmod +x \usr\sbin\InguzDSP.exe.config

*** Please note: the above Ubuntu file location is that specified in the
original Inguz installation guide. NOT that suggested by W0153R in an
earlier post in this thread. If you have used W0153R's installation
guide you will need to modify the above accordingly.

*** There was a bug in the Sox originally included in the Windows
version of LMS 7.9.2. This was corrected in the December 10, 2018
(1544453860) nightly. This bug only affected Windows installations and
would have prevented any resampling at all by Sox. So, if you are on
Windows LMS 7.9.2 prior to December 10, 2018 (1544453860) it might be a
good idea to install the current nightly.

I have also updated the "InguzDSP.exe.config" secion in the Inguz
Documentation pdf file that I posted in an earlier thread.

The updated Inguz Documentation and all the other files I have recently
posted here can be downloaded from:

I've attached a revised version of "Index.html"

Changes:
These concern the Web interface (when using Internet Explorer) - now
fully operational.
- "Save preset" button displayed - many thanks to bobertuk
- "Up" buttons now work properly
- Removed the help links. These used to fail, disconcertingly, because
the Inguz website is no longer active.

I've also created a pdf file which contains the very helpful information
that would have been displayed if the above links had been active (many
thanks to bobertuk for providing an Inguz archive). It also contains
some additional thoughts from myself (shown in italics) mainly on
Flatness.

Please back up your existing Index.html file to a safe place before
proceeding.

Locations for Index.html:

Windows 7
C:\Program Files

Ubuntu:
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/InguzEQ/HTML/EN/plugins/InguzEQ/

On Ubuntu - set permissions
("squeezeboxserver:nogroup" is probably correct for the owner:group but
it is worth checking your own installation.)

Code:

sudo chown squeezeboxserver:nogroup
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/InguzEQ/HTML/EN/plugins/InguzEQ/Index.html

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2018-12-13 Thread JohnB

I've updated an Inguz.pm file with the entries in the previous post.

There are no guarantees but I have tested them as far as I can.

The attached zip file contains the following:

_custom-types.conf_
Change: deleted the entry for "aap" - no longer required

_Plugin.pm_
Added/updated the following entries for both 24 bit and 16 bit player
sections:
aac - new entry
aap - deleted - replaced by the aac entry
alc - (Apple Lossless) earlier version is broken - updated to to work
with more up to date versions of LMS
mp4 - new entry (for mp4 and m4a containing aac)
spt - new entry (for Spotty plugin)
Changed FLAC compression level to "0", as used in LMS convert.conf
file.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY UPDATED YOUR OWN PLUGIN.PM TO SUIT YOUR OWN
REQUIREMENTS YOU SHOULD CHECK WHETHER THIS VERSION WILL CAUSE YOU
PROBLEMS. THE INDIVIDUAL ENTRIES ARE SHOWN IN THE PREVIOUS POST. IN ANY
CASE: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKUP COPIES OF YOUR OWN INGUZ PLUGIN.PM,
INGUZ CUSTOM-TYPES.CONF AND INGUZ CUSTOM-CONVERT.CONF

_Installating:_

Stop LMS

*** First copy the existing Inguz Plugin.pm, custom-types.conf and
custom-convert.conf to a safe place, as a backup (See below for folder
locations.)

Unzip the file and copy the contents to:

Windows 7 64 bit:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\Plugins\InguzEQ\

Ubuntu:
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/InguzEQ/
Using terminal: set ownership of the files:
sudo chown -R squeezeboxserver:nogroup
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/InguzEQ

Delete the existing Inguz custom-convert.conf (_in_the_above_folders_).
Inguz will automatically regenerate a new custom-convert.conf file from
the templates in Plugin.pm when LMS is restarted.

Restart LMS

If you encounter any problem with the new Plugin.pm: restore the backed
up versions and please let me know.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2018-12-13 Thread JohnB

I've been looking at the Inguz Plugin.pm and custom-convert.conf and
have come up with the following amendments.

Save a backup copy of your Plugin.pm and custom-convert.conf before
proceeding.

To edit Plugin.pm you will probably need an editor that supports LF line
endings, such as Wordpad on Windows.

Stop LMS before editing.

If you are using the original Inguz Plugin.pm:

- Replace the existing aap entry with this aac entry (the aap entry is
no longer required):
- Replace the existing alc entry with this updated alc entry (for Apple
Lossless) - the orignal alc entry is broken:
- Add mp4 entry (for mp4 and m4a containing aac)
- Add spt entry for Spotty Spotify plugin

If you have previously edited the Plugin.pm for your own requirements
you can pick and choose.

Plugin.pm entries:

Code:

aac flc * $CLIENTID$
# IF
[faad] -q -w -f 1 $FILE$ | [$CONVAPP$] -id "$CLIENTID$" -wav -wavo -d
24 | [flac] -cs -0 --totally-silent -

  alc flc * $CLIENTID$

-d 24 | [flac] -cs -0 --totally-silent --ignore-chunk-sizes -

custom-convert.conf entries:

Code:

aac flc * 00:04:20:23:09:e3
# IF
[faad] -q -w -f 1 $FILE$ | [InguzDSP] -id "00:04:20:23:09:e3" -wav

"00:04:20:23:09:e3" -wav -wavo -d 24 | [flac] -cs --totally-silent -0

  mp4 flc * 00:04:20:23:09:e3

--ignore-chunk-sizes -

  spt flc * 00:04:20:23:09:e3
# RT:{START=--start-position %s}
[spotty] -n Squeezebox -c "$CACHE$" --single-track $FILE$
--disable-discovery --disable-audio-cache $START$ | [sox] -q -t raw -b 16 -e
signed -c 2 -r 44.1k -L - -t wav - | [InguzDSP] -id "00:04:20:23:09:e3" -wav
-wavo -d 24 | [flac] -cs -0 --totally-silent --ignore-chunk-sizes -

Important: replace "00:04:20:23:09:e3" with the MAC address of your own
player(s).

To regenerate the Inguz custom-convert.conf file from an updated Inguz
Plugin.pm.
- Stop LMS,
- save a backup copy of the Inguz current custom-convert.conf file, just
in case.
- delete the current Inguz custom.convert.conf
- restart LMS
- Inguz custom-convert.conf will be regenerated

I will roll these up into a revised Plugin.pm and include it in another
post.

Please let me know if you encounter any problems.

Wirrunna,

I'm not sure why AAC doesn't play (as opposed to AAC+) when you set up
Inguz custom-convert.conf with a valid aap entry. However, there is
probably little point in investigating when there is already a working
solution for playing AAC and AAC+ via Inguz.

Just drop the "aap".

Incidentally, I might be wrong but in your second pic of the filetypes I
wouldn't expect AAC to go through Inguz without "Native" and "faad/flac"
disabled - though that would probably depend on the player.

By the way, as far as your earlier post is concerned (the one I
commented on) it would be a good idea to add a qualification otherwise
it might be unfair on someone who happens on your post unaware of the
issues.

2018-12-10 Thread Wirrunna

I just fired up another Vortexbox, named uVBox, edited the InguzEQ
plugin aap line in sub template_FLAC24

Code:

  aap flc * $CLIENTID$
# IFT
[faad] -q -w -f 1 $FILE$ | [InguzDSP] -id "$CLIENTID$" -wav -wavo -d 24
| [flac] -cs -0 --totally-silent -

No other change - i.e. left custom-types.conf alone. Restarted
Squeezebox server, then in the web gui I selected one of the players
attached to my standard Vortexbox and switched it across and tried a
radio station and it played as aac+ . Loaded my "Transistor Radio" Inguz
preset and the station played (sounding dreadful) proving that the Inguz
plugin is doing its thing.
Interestingly, radio stations appear to play as either aac+ or mp3, I
could not get a radio stream to play aac. Checking Settings/File Types
showed aac and aac+ (see first attached image) and the radio station
details
File Format: AACplus
Bitrate: 64kbps CBR (Converted to 705kbps FLAC)
URL: http://live-radio01.mediahubaustralia.com/2FMW/aac/
Title: Classic FM NSW

Now on my other Vortexbox updates yesterday as discussed above, File
Types show aac only, no aac+ (see second image) radio station details

File Format: AAC
Bitrate: 64kbps CBR
Sample Rate: 48.0 kHz
URL: http://live-radio01.mediahubaustralia.com/2FMW/aac/
Title: Classic FM NSW

Got me fooled !

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2018-12-10 Thread Wirrunna

JohnB, I welcome your constructive review of my enthusiastic but
incautious update of the plugin. I regard this thread as a peer review
of code (I was an assembler programmer for 10 years back in the 1970s
before moving into management).

The problem I was attempting to solve was that aac radio streams
wouldn't play with Inguz as installed. Having commissioned several new
pCP players recently I felt it easier to update the template rather than
entries for each player in custom-convert.conf

So, where to from here ?
Should I delete the zip file from my earlier post ?
I agree that someone more qualified than me should update the known non
working code in the plugin. I look forward to testing it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2018-12-10 Thread JohnB

Wirrunna,

Thanks for that.

This is going to sound like nit-picking of the highest order - and I
apologise for that.

A few words of caution though.

We are in a situation where many people using Inguz have probably
updated their Plugin.pm and custom-convert.conf (which is re-generated
by Plugin.pm) for their own particular requirements. (For example the
"alc" section in your Plugin.pm is broken.) If your new Plugin.pm is
used "as is" it might well knock out something else that has been
previously tweaked.

The zip file contains:

install.xml
custom-types.conf
Plugin.pm

They all have CRLF line endings which might possibly cause problems with
non-Windows sytems such as Ubuntu, etc. The original files had LF line
endings and I think it is best to maintain that for compatibility.

install.xml
The only change in this is to the version number. While it is obviously
a good idea to have version numbers, in the current situation where no
one person is responsible for Inguz and where various people are making
their own amendments to Plugin.pm, etc changing version numbers might
get confusing - just a thought.

custom-types.conf
You have changed the "aap" entry to "aac". In my experience there is no
need for an "aac" entry in the Inguz custom-types.conf as it already
specified in the LMS "types.conf". The "aap" entry becomes redundant but
does no harm.

Plugin.pm
See my earlier comments.

It might be a good idea for someone to try to pull together a Plugin.pm
which contains the necessary corrections and additional entries that
people have made over the years and to have that as a reference.
However, that is much easier said than done but I will try to do a bit
of research over the coming week (unless someone else would like to do
it).

In the mean time I think it is probably best to give people the choice
of replacing the Plugin.pm (the other files are not really necessary) or
editing the entries in their existing files.

Edit with Wordpad or an editor that supports "LF" line endings.

_Plugin.pm_
In the last section headed "# transcode for 24-bit FLAC output (sb2,
sb3, transporter)"
(This is at the end of the file.)

Replace the aap entry with:

Code:

aac flc * $CLIENTID$
# IFT
[faad] -q -w -f 1 $FILE$ | [InguzDSP] -id "$CLIENTID$" -wav -wavo -d 24
| [flac] -cs -0 --totally-silent -

_custom-convert.conf:
_
The aap entry would be replaced by:

Code:

aac flc * XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
# IFT
[faad] -q -w -f 1 $FILE$ | [InguzDSP] -id "XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX" -wav
-wavo -d 24 | [flac] -cs -0 --totally-silent -

(Where "XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX" represents the player's MAC address)

Of course, edits to the Inguz custom-convert.conf file will take
immediate effect once LMS is restarted. BUT the Inguz
custom-convert.conf file will eventually be overwritten with a
re-generated custom-convert.conf file from the entries in Plugin.pm,
e.g. if Inguz is de-enabled and then re-enabled in the LMS Plugins, etc,
etc.

A few months ago I noticed that AAC internet radio streams would not
play at all if I had the InguzEQ loaded. This was explored in this
thread
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109437-AAC-Transcoding-help-needed.

JohnB solved my problem with an AAC setting for custom-convert.conf.

I have updated the InguzEQ plugin to correctly generate the entry for
AAC streams in custom-convert.conf and also updated the
custom-types.conf to reflect the aac changes. The computer systems
manager in me insisted on updating the plugin's version number to
identify the change.
Attached is a zipped file containing the install.xml, plugin.pm and
custom-types.conf .
To install, stop squeezebox server, replace the existing files and
restart. I just untick the EQ plugin on the Settings/Plugins screen,
restart the server without EQ, update the files then re-install the EQ
plugin.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2018-12-06 Thread JohnB

Sorry this is a long post. I've combined the instructions for Windows
installation into this one post.

*MANUAL INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS*
*INSTALLING THE PLUGIN*

The plugin is the “user interface”: it lets you control filter functions
from the Squeezebox remote control. To install:

• Download the plugin from: http://inguzaudio.com/EQ/download.php

• Unzip in the Logitech Media Server’s Plugins directory. You should end
up with a folder C:\Program Files
(x86)\Squeezebox\server\Plugins\InguzEQ\ containing the plugin file
Plugin.pm and a few other supporting files.

• Stop and restart the Logitech Media Server.

• Open the Logitech Media Server web interface, select Settings ->
Plugins. Verify that the “EQ” plugin is checked.

• On a Duet: using the remote control, select the “EQ” menu (under
Extras) or on a Touch use the Touch screen. You will see a message
indicating that the server must be restarted.

• Stop and restart the Logitech Media Server a second time.

*INSTALLING THE FILTER PROCESSOR*
The filter processor is the “engine”: it processes audio files as they
are played, and sends the processed audio to your Squeezebox or
Transporter. To install the processor:

• Download the filter processor from:
http://inguzaudio.com/DSP/download.php

• Unzip in the Logitech Media Server C:\Program Files
(x86)\Squeezebox\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\ folder.
You’ll see a few new files, including InguzDSP.exe, in the folder.

*INSTALLING UPDATED PLUGIN.PM, INDEX.HTML*
The original plugin.pm is not compatible with Perl 5.22 or higher so I
amended the file.

• Download an updated Plugin.pm from the bottom of this folder:
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?77084-RC-(Inguz-etc-)=903072=1#post903072

• On Windows 7 64 bit, copy the Plugin.pm file to folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\Plugins\InguzEQ\

bobertuk did a fix in* index.html* for the missing text 'Save Preset' in
the button in the web interface when using Internet Explorer.

• Download an updated index.html from the bottom of this post:
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?77084-RC-(Inguz-etc-)=903072=1#post903072

• On Windows 7 64 bit, copy the new index.html to folder:
"C:\Program Files
(x86)\Squeezebox\server\Plugins\InguzEQ\HTML\EN\plugins\InguzEQ\

*GETTING STARTED*
STARTING THE PLUGIN
LMS may not recognize the plugin immediately when it’s installed. Then,
when the plugin is first used, it needs to write some configuration
information. The first time:

• Restart LMS.

• From the LMS web interface, select Server Settings -> Plugins. Verify
that the “EQ” plugin is checked.

• Verify that the “Plugins” menu or the “EQ” plugin are active on the
player.

• If you have a Duet: Using the remote control, select the “EQ” menu
(under Extras). If you have a Touch: use the Touch screen. You will see
a message indicating that SqueezeCenter must be restarted.

• Restart LMS a second time.

• Check the LMS/Settings/Advanced/File Types that the InguzDSP options
are enabled.

RUNNING
Now the plugin and filter processor are installed, you should be able to
play music. From the Duet remote control or Touch screen, etc, you can
configure the plugin and change equalization settings.

For room correction, you need to create and install room correction
filters.

After playing the first track, check that there’s a file Log.txt in the
application data folder (C:\ProgramData\InguzEQ\). This is the filter
processor’s log file, and you should read it occasionally to check that
the filter processor is working properly. More detail about the log
file can be found below.

LOG FILE
When the filter processor runs, it writes information into a file
log.txt, which you can find in the InguzEQ folder.

• On Windows 7 64bit, this is in C:\ProgramData\InguzEQ\.

You can read this log file with a text editor.

No updates in the log?
If you play music but there are no updates in the log file, first check
that the LMS “file types” are selected properly (see the installation
instructions for details).

A TYPICAL LOG
For each track played, you should see a series of lines in the log, like
this:

The instructions for installing Inguz on Windows would be very much
appreciated. I will probably also try to do DRC again, but I think I can
figure that out as the process of making the filters presumably hasn't
changed...

Installing Ingush on W7 is fairly straight forward. I haven't installed

Of course, if you are using Inguz for DRC everything depends on the
quality of the measurement and filter generation.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2018-12-06 Thread JohnB

I have compiled a new build of InguzDSP.exe which overcomes a potential
problem with later versions of Sox and which I am currently testing. I
will provide a link to it when I am convinced there are no issues with
it (it certainly seems to work fine, but it is early days). In the mean
time, if anyone would like a copy of the file please send me a PM. (I
don't think I am infringing any copyright issues as Hugh Pyle has made
the source code available.)

The background:

There is a potential issue with DRC when Inguz uses SOX versions after
14.3.

When doing DRC Inguz checks the sampling rate of the file being played
with the sampling rate of the selected filter and, if they differ, it
uses SOX to resample the filter to the file sampling rate. For example,
if you have selected a 44.1kHz filter file and then play a 96kHz file,
Inguz will use Sox to resample the 44.1kHz filter file and create a
96kHz filter file.

The potential problem with this is that Inguz uses a SOX command that
was removed from Sox version 14.4 (i.e. the "polyphase" option). It was
already deprecated in Sox 14.3 but still usable.)

If Inguz cannot resample the filter file the audio files plays, but
without any DRC.

This would only affect people when Sox 14.4 is installed. Even then it
is possible to get round the issue by getting Inguz to use Sox 14.3
instead or switch filter files when one selects an audio file with a
different sampling rate. However, perhaps that is less than ideal.

The Sox command line that Inguz uses is hard coded in InguzDSP.exe.
Luckily Hugh Pyle has made the source code available and I have
recompiled InguzDSP.exe with a Sox compliant command.

Original line 86 in program.cs:

Code:

static string _soxFmt = "\"{0}\" -r {1} \"{2}\" polyphase";

which generates Sox command:

Code:

Sox input_file -r new_sample_rate output_file polyphase

Replacement line 86:

Code:

static string _soxFmt = "\"{0}\" \"{2}\" rate -v -I {1}";

which generates Sox command

Code:

Sox input_file output_file rate -v -I new_sample_rate

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2018-01-13 Thread Wirrunna

W0153R excellent tutorial. Your procedures also work with Vortexbox 2.4

A recent thread in the Klipsch forums showed how to use REW (Room EQ
Wizard freeware) to measure your room and calculate Parametric Equalizer
(PEQ) settings.
https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/167089-using-rew-to-find-parametric-equalizer-peq-settings/

Some time ago Darren Yeats pointed out that Inguz " EQ presets can be
defined separately from the EQ GUI plug-in. There is an xml file for
each preset which you can configure by hand to have an indefinite number
of EQ bands. On Linux the preset files live at
/usr/share/InguzEQ/Settings/. "
http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=51994.0 reply #18

So we should be able to use REW to create PEQ settings and then build a
working preset.

Here is an EQ conf for a preset I call Transistor Radio, a great preset
for testing if EQ is working after installing Inguz -
Transistor Radio.preset.conf

0
0
0

-20
-20
0
-20
-20

0
10

You can see it is a 5 band equalizer with -20db bass cut, flat at 1000Hz
and -20db treble cut, sounds just like an old tinny pocket transister
radio.

It is simple to modify a .preset.conf, and after selecting the modified
preset Inguz will show the response in the graph in the GUI.

I have found that Inguz EQ is not just a software parametric equalizer,
rather it appears to draw a line between points, so that if you want to
equalize a bump in your speaker's response, then define the frequency at
start of the bump with a zero, the bump peak frequency with a negative
db number and the frequency where the response is flat with a zero -

0
-10
-12
0

These entries will build an EQ curve flat to 850Hz, -10db at 900Hz,
-12db at 950Hz and flat from 1000Hz

REW makes measurement simple by its ability to output a measurement
sweep including the timing reference signal as a .wav file.

This is done in the REW Generator function - select "Meas. Sweep", click
the WAV icon and tick "add timing reference signal", set the WAV sample
resolution and record the sweep.

Convert the WAV to flac, use MP3Tag to add a title and add the track to
your LMS library.

So with our REW measurement Sweep complete with timing reference saved
as a track in LMS, we can select the REW measurement function , make
sure that the measurement sweep is set to what was recorded in the
previous step (20 to 20,000 etc) and that the "Wait for timing
reference" box is ticked and play our sweep through a squeezebox and
measure the system response. Make sure that Don't Stop the Music or
SpiceFly SugarCube is disabled. You will probably have to play the
measurement sweep adjusting the volume several times until you have a
good volume level.

You can now use REW to calculate the PEQ settings and either edit an
existing preset.conf or copy and rename an existing preset.conf and edit
the new settings into the file.

In the LMS GUI, go to Extras / Inguz EQ make sure that the settings file
created/edited earlier is selected.
Then play the sweep through the Squeezebox and measure with REW, the
timing bleep will trigger REW to start measuring.

This way the effect of the Inguz EQ settings can be measured and
verified. This sequence can be repeated until you are happy with the
equalisation. I use WinSCP to edit the .preset.conf file in
/usr/share/InguzEQ/Settings/

All that is left is to figure out where to place the microphone in the
room ..

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2018-01-05 Thread W0153R

CLIPPING
InguzDSP creates a few files in /usr/share/InguzEQ/, after you've set up
Inguz there are 2 files of interest: error & log.txt. You can check for
errors with:

Code:

cat /usr/share/InguzEQ/error

It should give you no output at all.

The file log.txt can get big and we're only interested in the latest
data so we'll use 'tail' to just give us the end of the file and print
any new information as it comes in:

Code:

tail -f /usr/share/InguzEQ/log.txt

If there's clipping going on, it will print 'CLIPPING+' or 'CLIPPING-'
and something along the lines of:

Code:

20180105181413: 01:53:01:53:01:02 2387377 samples, 404442.711 ms (1610.266
init), 0.1335 * realtime, peak 0.865 dBfs

We're only interested in the last bit, the peak-value, a peak > 0 means
clipping.
The log will also contain the following information:

Code:

20180105181939: 00:04:20:16:cd:70 24/96000 PCM => 24/96000 PCM TRIANGULAR,
gain -16 dB

Once again, we're only interested in the last bit, the gain, if you're
experiencing clipping you should adjust it.
In the above example a gain of 1dB lower would already prevent the
clipping. To adjust the clipping enter the following in a terminal:

Code:

sudo nano /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/i386-linux/InguzDSP.exe.config

RESAMPLING
By default InguzDSP will turn off when LMS needs to resample (except for
MP3 & OGG-files). I've added extra profiles to Plugin.pm that allow for
resampling and even upsampling. There are 4 extra profiles in there:
template_FLAC24_resample: allows for resampling when necessary and spits
out 24bit FLAC's
template_FLAC16_resample: allows for resampling when necessary and spits
out 16bit FLAC's
template_FLAC24_upsample192 and template_FLAC24_upsample96: upsampling
to respectively 24bit/192kHz and 24bit/96kHz

InguzDSP uses 24bit filters and all processing is done in 24bit,
template_FLAC16_resample turns it back into 16bit after the processing
is done.

On line 3596 of the attached Plugin.pm you'll find 2 extra if-statements
checking for the squeezebox-model, you should adjust here if you want to
use a certain profile.
I've got a Receiver (which can playback 24bit/48kHz) so I've got it
setup to apply the FLAC24_resample-template when the modelname equals
'receiver', and I've got a SqueezeLite-box with a soundcard that can
only do 16bit/48kHz so I've got that setup to use the
FLAC16_resample-template.
You can find the model-name of your device on LMS-settings page. If
you've already got InguzDSP set up, replacing the Plugin.pm-file and
restarting LMS twice should take care of the settings but you might have
to delete the file 'custom-convert.conf' in the same folder
(/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/InguzEQ/) before restarting.

is like Inguz in that it's Intel only. I tried at one time to get Inguz
running on an Intel machine with Ubuntu but couldn't get it to work.

Maybe with a little work something similar to the MusicIP/ARM install
will get Inguz to work on ARM.

Bob

PS
I went from Ubuntu 16.04 on XU4 -> Windows 10 on Intel-NUC simply
because of audio software availability. The Win 10 setup means I can use
Inguz, MusicIP is much easier to use and is more flexible, and some
audio software is only available for Windows. I found I was constantly
switching between Ubuntu, macOS and Windows to do different things and
it became a real pain! Its a shame because I like the XU4 and Ubuntu!

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2017-09-06 Thread JohnB

Bob,

That information is extremely interesting and very useful - thank you
for all your investigations.

I'm intrigued by your description of the Flatness control, in which I
assume you are quoting Hugh Pyle ("Inguz").

It says "often a flat target can sound thin and, well, flat".

Many people (perhaps most) using DRC don't actually use flat targets but
ones based to some degree on the B and similar curves, which are flat
to 500Hz, 1000Hz, etc (depending on the curve) and then gently drop
away, on the basis that these sound more subjectively "flat" than a flat
target.

However, I suspect that isn't really what the explanation of the
Flatness control means.

My filters are generated by Acourate and the resulting sound, using
Inguz DRC is anything but thin and "flat" - quite the opposite, the
sound is full, even and with depth. But then it depends on what was
meant by "flat" - dull?, smooth? lacking in depth? lifeless?

I suppose the sophistication of the software used to generate the DRC
filters (together with the parameters used when generating the filters)
are critical to the end result when using Inguz (or similar DRC
"engines") and I am very happy indeed with the sound with the Flatness
left at 10.

I find the Inguz DRC (together with the Acourate generated filters) is
extremely worthwhile. We all have different approaches to these things
but I only use the DRC functions and leave the other settings off, on
the basis that very often "less is more".

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2017-09-04 Thread bobertuk

I've found a fix for the 'Save Preset' button...

Replace Inguz plugin 'index.html' line 592 with...

Code:

original index.html line 592

Code:

If you run Inguz on a Windows PC (Windows 10 in my case) you can
activate all the up/down buttons in iexplorer 11 by first running LMS,
then press F12 ((Developer Tools), then just close down the developer
tools window. All the up/down buttons should then work correctly.

I have also found meanings of some of the Inguz settings...

Quietness:
"Quietness" is "loudness". Quietness zero means "flat"; quietness 10
means a loudness-curve EQ that boosts the bass and treble. This is a
very subtle loudness control compared with some. Also there's a
fundamental limitation to this architecture where your loudness change
might not take effect for many seconds, due to the SB's buffering.

Width:
"Width" controls the stereo image width, by up to +/- 6dB (-6 is not
mono). Note that increasing the width doesn't apply crossfeed to spread
the image beyond the speakers, it just attenuates the middle compared
with the side.

Flatness:
"Flatness": DRC creates a correction filter against its target curve
(flat, by default), but often a flat target can sound thin and, well,
flat. So my flatness filter looks at the frequency response of the
correction filter and inverts it, over ten steps; theoretically so that
with flatness=0 the in-room response is relatively unchanged from the
uncorrected version (correcting for phase and reflections but not
correcting peaks), and with flatness=10 the in-room response should be
really quite flat..

Flatness 10 should give the "flat" in-room response.

Skew:
The Inguz skew control should be set to compensate for any discrepancy
in the straight-line distance from tweeter to ear. At 44.1kHz sampling
rate this equates to 22.68s of time delay per sample or about a
third of an inch (7.7mm) of distance. This is ONLY true at this one
sampling rate, so if you play material at different rates it only works
for some of them.

Enhanced Stereo Filter:
Can be used: "To increase spatial separation between channels. The
various “Space” filters broaden the stereo image in a normal system to
well beyond the loudspeaker positions, enhancing the “they are here”
feeling.

I've been experimenting with Inguz quite a lot but I can't find any of
the 'Enhanced Stereo Filter' files. Does anyone have copies of them
stored anywhere? If so, would it be possible for you to PM them to me or
attach them here.

Wirrunna,

I remembered reading something on the forum years ago about this so I
looked back at some of the old Inguz threads. Phil Leigh (where has he
gone!) mentioned this way back in 2011. He refers to an edit in the
Inguz plugin 'index.html' code to correct the clickable box. He attached
the corrected file to one of his posts but it was so long ago that the
attachment has been archived off.

Does that help? I took a look at the file and there's what I think is an
HTML commented line and an associated function. The code starts at line
#155 and is as follows but in copying here indents are lost...

// Save-As Preset

function savp(el)
{
if(!el) return;
var sType = el.id.substr(el.id.indexOf("_")+1);

var sval = "";
var ctrl = document.getElementById("edt_"+sType);
if( ctrl )
{
sval = ctrl.value;
}

var setfn = "Set" + sType;
if(typeof(_model[setfn])=="function")
{
_model[setfn]( sval, true, function(bOK){highlightSetting(el,
bOK)}
);
}
}

To me the code is almost meaningless so I'm of no help but you may find
something. Phil Leigh did!

There are obvious ones of course, EQ and Balance for instance. But
others are not so obvious and most of the Inguz website isn't accessible

So, what are the following for and/or what do they do? Any others that

Wirrunna,

I found the "|" earlier and discovered that it saved the profile. In my
attempts to get the graphical EQ display working I discovered a
Silverlight installer for Mac - silverlight needs activating through
Safari security preferences. That got the EQ display working and the
save button appeared in place of "|" on the latest LMS 7.91 nightly. I
have an old desktop PC running with Windows 10 installed and found the
same on that with Safari.

Thank you for looking at the Inguz code. The problem I have at the
moment is that I can't get the up/down buttons working - some do some
don't. I'm sure it's an issue with the HTML code but my coding skills
are poor to say the least.

2017-08-12 Thread Wirrunna

Bob and John,
I have spent some time looking at the Plugin.pm and strings.txt to see
if I could figure out what the problem saving a preset is.

First I installed LMS 7.0 on an old PC and loaded the Inguz plugin - see
first screen pic - , look at "Save current settings as:" , there is a
box that when clicked will save the settings and flash a light green
colour over the text.

The second screen pic from LMS 7.9.1 shows the same area of the screen
but instead of a clickable box there is a "|" - however, clicking
carefully will flash the light green and save the text, no need to go to
iPeng, Orange Squeeze etc. Try it.

In an earlier life I spent 10 years writing IBM Assembler, so I had a
look at the plugin code in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\Plugins\InguzEQ,
strings.txt contains the character string that appears on the Inguz
screen with each string's variable name, so

PLUGIN_INGUZEQ_SAVEPRESETFILE EN Save current settings as:

is what to look for in Plugin.pm - while that is easy to find I
couldn't work out what drew the clickable box.

As far as I know REW can measure the loudspeaker/room frequency response
but it can't, on its own, produce the correction files for Inguz. I have
seen some mention of the REW measurements being used in other packages
to create the correction files but I confess that I am not up to speed
with what free software there is around that will create the correction
files.

The correction files that I use with Inguz are 32bit wave files - though
they seem only to contain a pulse when looked at in an audio editor. The
correction files go in /usr/share/InguzEQ/Impulses.

John, I'm going to have a closer look at REW to see if there is any way
to export RC and import into Inguz. What file type does Inguz require,
.wav, .pcm or what? And what folder does that file go into? I don't
really want to spend out on Audiolense or Acourate without knowing that
I can actually get a RC file into Inguz and establish that it works;
i.e. that it does indeed change the character of the sound.

I don't want to put anyone off and I am sorry if this is overkill or not
appropriate for the forum, but I thought it might be useful to post an
example of the DRC correction filter creation process using Acourate.
These are a few screen shots of one of the versions I did. It is for my
main speakers, without sub.

1. The measured response. (That "combing" isn't at all unusual)
23389

2. Amplitude preparation - i.e. a smoothing of the measured response.
There is a trade off - the more accurately this follows the measured
response the more restricted and narrow the listening position is.
Acourate allows you to adjust how accurately it follows the measured
response (Audiolense has 3 settings which do the same), but this is
Acourate's recommended setting - a best compromise.
23390

3. Target prepartion. This shows the target curve (in black) after I
prepared it, against the curves used to calculate the DRC filters.
23391

4. Filter generation. This is Acourate's simulation of the DRC result
with the filters it has generated for that target and the amplitude
file. It includes the target curve.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2017-08-09 Thread JohnB

Bob,

As you know, the GUI has been a problem for many years - one the rare
occasions I need the GUI I use IE.

As far as DRC is concerned, the correction impulse files, and how they
are created, are critical. I might be wrong but I don't think REW
creates these.

There was a basic method that was described in the original Inguz
instructions. I seem to remember that there was a Youtube video which
someone did to demonstrate how to do this, so it might be worth looking
for this. I did have a go using it but didn't get very far.

For more control over the filter creation process there are two software
packages that people have used (see below). They are expensive but they
do give good results.

The basic procedure is:
- measure the room response (using a microphone and soundcard)
- display the room response and create a target response
- run the software to create the correction filters to use with Inguz
- copy the correction filter wave files to the Inguz Impulses
directory.

In practice it is an iterative process - and people try different
targets in order to get a final response which they feel is the most
pleasing. Why not use a flat straight target? Well that doesn't
necessarily work best for many people.

One thing worth mentioning: sometimes a room will have a deep null (or
near null) in the bass region - no DRC (or amplifier) can correct that.
It will be caused by the room modes and the only solution is to move the
listening position.

I found that one incidental benefit of setting up DRC is that I had to
start to scanning the room frequency response and that made me think
about loudspeaker and listening positions. As a result I moved things
around to make the frequency response smoother even before DRC.

These are the software packages that were available a few years ago when
I started looking at DRC. I use Acourate, Phil Leigh (who posted a lot
on Inguz) used Audiolense. I have no idea to what extent they are
currently being developed and there might be other options these days:

AUDIOLENSE
This comes in two versions:
_Audiolense_2.0_ (165 Euro) - a more basic version which is very easy to
use but has limited options. However this will be fine for most people
with a stereo system.

_Audiolense_XO_ (390 Euro) - a more advanced version with cross over
design, etc, etc. Probably overkill.
There is a trial version which enables you to create a corrected wave
file that lasts 90 seconds, but you can't save your work.

One advantage of Audiolense is that the room measurement is done within
the main package, so you can see the result immediately.

ACOURATE
This costs 340 Euro. It is chock full of options which the non-expert
will find totally confusing. However, once you get over the initial
feeling of panic and follow the basic instructions it isn't so
frightening.

There isn't a trial version, but you can use download the measurement
program for free and use that to measure the room response, send the
impulse files to the developer together with a music clip of a few
minutes and he will send you back a corrected version of the music
clip.

In either case - I'm not sure of the usefulness of the test files. They
give some indication but, as I said, getting to a good result depends on
trying various targets.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2017-08-09 Thread bobertuk

John & Wirrunna
Using Johns commented instructions I have Inguz working on an Intel-NUC
which seems to have more than enough CPU power to run Inguz. I'm using
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. John, I just followed your instructions to the letter,
apart from having to modify permissions a little.

The biggest problem was getting the EQ GUI working - initially I tried
installing a silverlight lookalike for Linux called 'pipelight' in the
hope of being able to get the GUI running direct in a web browser on
Ubuntu. No luck, just couldn't get it to run in either Chrome or
Firefox. So I downloaded silverlight for Mac and after activating it in
Safari it works fine - well, the GUI anyway - connecting through Safari
to the NUC on port 9000 is all that's needed. The adjusters (up and down
buttons) for EQ work but most of the other adjusters, e.g. 'Quietness',
do nothing. I seem to remember reading about this problem years ago and
if I recall correctly, it was something to do with the version of
silverlight being used, an earlier version being required. Could get it
functioning on Windows 10 with IE and Safari (but not Edge) but still
the same issue with the adjuster buttons. I seem to recall there was a
way of getting those buttons to work but for the life of me I can't
remember how.

I get sound out of the speakers and changes to EQ changes the sound
produced so in principle it's working. Except I don't have a clue how to
get room correction up and running. I have REW and a USB calibrated
microphone but don't know what file types to export from REW or where to
put them in Inguz. I know that information was on the Inguz website but
it's no longer accessible. There's a whole raft of threads on this forum
about Inguz and I'm sure the information could be sifted out but I'd be
grateful for any help here.

The directories and paths you quote are those applicable on Ubuntu
(Debian). Actually, as far as I understand it,
-/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/InguzEQ/- is a soft link to
-/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/InguzEQ-.

You say you are running Fedora. I know very little about it but, from
what I can gather, there are similarities between Fedora and Redhat. The
Inguz installation guide for Redhat differs from the Debian installation
in that it uses different paths to the installation directories. So you
might want to look at the Redhat installation instructions.

In the Plugin.zip that you posted in #393 there are the original Inguz
instructions for Redhat in file "inguz audio » Installation on Red Hat
linux.htm" (when Plugin.zip is unzipped the instructions are in the
Plugin/InguzEQ folder).

A few points:

- In the instructions, you will need to change "slimserver" to
"squeezeboxserver" where it occurs in the paths, e.g.
"-/usr/local/slimserver/Plugins/InguzEQ-" becomes
"-/usr/local/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/InguzEQ-".

- The instructions refer to SlimServer - this, of course, is now LMS.

- Inguz requires mono to provide Windows Net 2 support. When I installed
Inguz on Ubuntu I was very green and had problems with mono. In the end
I installed mono-complete (sudo apt-get install mono-complete) which is
probably a gross over-kill - there is almost certainly a more elegant
solution.

- The instructions mention restarting "SlimServer" (i.e. LMS). In Ubuntu
the terminal command for this is:
-sudo /etc/init.d/logitechmediaserver restart- but I'm not sure whether
it is the same in Fedora.
I rebooted my Touch and restarted LMS a few times.

2017-08-09 Thread JohnB

This is a copy of the InguzEQ plugin.pm that I edited. Details of the
edit are documented in the file, just after the original version
history, though, of course, the line number of the edit will now have
changed because of the lines I added to describe what I did.

There are absolutely no guarantees that my edit is correct or
successful, but it doesn't throw up any errors on my Ubuntu system and
it seems to work OK.

I've had a quick look at the InguzDSP.zip file that you uploaded. The
installation directories shown in setup files are different from those
used in the Debian (or Ubuntu) installation - possibly because you are
using Fedora(?).

The Inguz plugin.pm in your zip file seems to be the last one that Hugh
Pyle issued and is the one that I have successfully used in Ubuntu 14.04
(which uses Perl 5.18) and then edited to amend the deprecated code.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2017-08-08 Thread Wirrunna

John and Bob
A little more digging around and I found an original Vortexbox script to
setup Inguz (setup-Inguz master), and a much modified script that I used
(setup-Inguz). These can be inspected using Wordpad on a windows box.
Also I found clean Inguz install files.

The previous files I uploaded contained a couple of Inguz filters that I
used, including one called Transistor Radio which when selected made my
Klipschorns sound like a tinny little radio - just to prove that Inguz
was working.

I recall that to get the web interface for Inguz working a later version
of Silverlight was needed, but OrangeSqueeze on Android could build
filters and save them.

When Inguz first came out it would use 50% of CPU power on a single core
Athlon 64, but these days it uses just a few % of one core on a
Pentium.

John, I'll try to make the change to the .pm file, but if you could
attach a copy of the working one it would be much appreciated.

Sure, I'll do that - but first I need to hunt out my notes and make sure
that they make sense (you know how it is when you write notes for your
own benefit). It will take a day or so.

Are you hoping to use it for DRC or for Equalization? (I use it for DRC
and have only used the Equalization to test things are working.)

There are a few things worth pointing out:

- The InguzEQ plugin.pm uses a deprecated expression at one point and
that will probably cause fatal error *_if_* you are using Perl 5.22 or
higher. It only gives a warning on earlier versions of Perl (I am using
Perl 5.18 and it works "as is"). The correction is quite simple (fingers
crossed) - see my post on the subject.

- If you are using the Web Interface on a PC, the Inguz control panel
doesn't work in Firefox but is fine in IE. I use iPeng on an iPad to
control Inguz, and that works reasonably OK. So, I'm not sure how things
will appear with any particular browser on your Ubuntu machine. (As my
Ubuntu server is headless, on the rare occasions I need to use the Web
Interface I use IE on my Windows PC to access the Ubuntu LMS.)

- You might want to edit the Inguz custom-convert.conf file at some
point, say to add a mp4 section or to correct the outdated ALAC section,
etc.

The download pages for InguzEQ and InguzDSP are still there, but there
aren't any links to them from the front page.

InguzEQ: http://inguzaudio.com/EQ/download.php
InguzDSP: http://inguzaudio.com/DSP/download.php

BUT, the installation instruction pages are not accessible. This is a
major problem as the installation procedure is critical.

A few years ago I successfully installed Inguz on both a Windows 7 PC
and on Ubuntu Server

I made my own copy of Hugh Pyle's instructions for installation on
linux. The instructions were slightly out of date, so I amended my copy
as I installed Inguz on Ubuntu.

As I remember the Windows installation instructions were much simpler,
though by no means obvious. (I think I can remember them well enough to
install Inguz on Windows).

By the way, an earlier post suggests that there is a need of a revised
plugin.pm to make Inguz work. That was the case at one time but the
installation files I downloaded worked fine without any tweaks. I think
Hugh Pyle had updated plugin.pm to deal with the Perl code that had been
deprecated.

There are a few issues with Inguz - most of which have a work-around -
but I won't go into that now (probably too much information).

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2016-01-28 Thread scintilla

Apple has been monkeying with security settings and a user no longer has
permissions to write to the usr directory except usr/local; but Inguz is
setup to use /usr/share. In order to use the Inguz plugin post El
Captian, you need to install the filters into 'usr/local and provide
permission for writing to that directory:

sudo chown $USER /usr/local/InguzEQ/

The plugin.pm document also must be amended to /usr/local so the plugin
knows where the filters are. Be sure to use another text editor than
the OSX TextEdit.app since this application causes me problems with
charcters. I attained success with wordpad and you could also use
MSWord or a freeware variant.

I made an alias of the InguzEQ folder that is placed in usr/local and
put it on my desktop for verifying correct operation in the log and
adding filters easily.

Good luck!

2016-01-26 Thread scintilla

My Inguz installation no longer can access the directory set up for the
filters and logs, as the SIP took away the user/share structure and I no
longer have permission to md in terminal. I gather that I can make a
new directory that is allowable, either under a specific profile or
something. Do I just need to mod the .pm file? Is there another
directory structure I can user for all users? TIA

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2016-01-04 Thread blscorp

Forgive me if this is covered ground, though I did search this thread
(and many others) with every keyword I thought might give me the answer,
with no luck.

I'm running LMS 7.7.5 (the last "official" release?) on Windows 7 with
two Duet Squeezebox players. I don't need RC, just the EQ, and I can't
get any audible variation from EQ adjustments. The UI is properly
installed, the DSP is installed and appears to be running in processes,
LAME is installed, I can view and adjust the EQ settings in Web Control
under Extras, but no audible effect.

My library is mostly MP3's and some Apple Lossless. In file types, I
see no "InguzDSP" option available for any Stream Format under Apple
Lossless ("faad/sox" instead). Under MP3, "lame/InguzDSP" (the
irony...) appears under four iterations of FLAC Stream Format, but not
for the MP3 Stream Format, which offers "Native" or "Disabled." Am I
just out of luck with these file types?

I've gleaned that with some intimidating-sounding editing of conf files
some have gotten Apple Lossless to work, one thread even seemed to
indicate you could limit the processing to just one player (ideal for my
situation). But I have yet to actually hear the plug in work, so I'm
trying to crawl before I walk. Mp3s are the bulk of my library so I
tried choosing "Disable" for the MP3 Stream Format to see if that would
force them through one of the Inguz enabled options, but still can't
hear the DSP.

I've put in enough time and it seems close enough that I'd like not to
give up, so thanks in advance for a push in the right direction. And
sorry again if I missed the obvious answer somewhere in the haystack.

One way of doing parametric EQ (better than nothing) in LMS would be to
have extra sox commands with lots of filter parameters in
custom-convert.conf. Those parameters might not be so difficult to
change with a simple GUI. Yes, it's dirty but necessity is the mother of

I have Inguz running on my Vortexboxes using Mono (instructions

simple install. I also run Inguz on my desktop Win 7 box which is used
for tagging etc.

Silverlight is a pita occasionally, (right now Firefox has blocked

Try it and report back.
By the way, even when you get the silverlight display going there are a
couple of issues to be aware of -
1. There is a delay of several seconds playing time from when you make a
change in the silverlight graphical equalizer to when the sound is
actually changed due to buffering. You can hurry it up by moving the
play position slider on the player ui.
2. The Inguz UI does not show the Save button, you have to use a tablet
or phone - I use Squeeze Commander on Android to save settings.

Hi - I'm working through what's req to get InguzEq running with room
correction having has Eq working fine with v 0.9.32.

I just reinstalled V 0.9.33 (from http://inguzaudio.com/downloads/ so
presumably the latest). I copied the stuff from the two zip files over
the top of the 0.9.32 install, both Eq and DSP, having first stopped the
server, then restarted, per instructions. Eq plugin still there and
enabled. My own Eq settings still there - all good.

However although LMS plugins page now shows V 0.9.33 installed, the
latest version info entries in log.txt (after restarting the server and
successfully playing music) still show V 0.9.32. Did I mess up or are
these v 0.9.32 log.txt entries correct?

Hello Phil,
I have now modified the file custom-convert.conf and the DSP
correction is applied for the apple lossless files, while aac (m4a

My attual configuration of custom-convert.conf:

Hi there...
All of the tools you mention will let you measure/analyse the in-room
response(with a suitably accurate measurement mic). I don't know if you
can use them to generate convolution files (like you can with AudioLense
or Acourate or BruteFIR) to use with Inguz though. I'm not sure if they
let you specify a target response curve either. I only have extensive
experience with AL (and the TACT hardware+Good Vibrations software -
which was a sort of freeware precursor to Acourate). I wouldn't want to
mislead you. Suggest you ask on a REW forum?
Regards
Phil

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] RC (Inguz etc.)

2012-03-06 Thread bobertuk

Hi Phil (Leigh),

I don't know if you are still reading this thread but if you are I'd
like to ask you a question.

I had a go at getting Inguz up and running on a QNAP NAS but after a
long time trying gave up. I got partway there but InguzDSP.exe doesn't
seem to like the QNAP environment. So I decided to over to switch over
to a low energy Windows 7 based system and got Inguz running easily
using your modified files. It works a treat and Windows gives me direct
access to lots of other Windows goodies like MP3tag as well.

The question...

I find that the first or second track played each day (after a daily
Win7 reboot) does a lot of re-buffering. After that one track though,
all following tracks play without a hitch. Is this something you've
observed with windows?

I'm using LMS/Inguz/SugarCube, the windows machine has been tuned to
give priority to background tasks and other than things like AV, VNC
nothing else is running. I've also un-installed all the retailer kak'
and stopped non essential services.

Thanks

Bob

P.S. Have you noticed that Inguz for Windows has recently been updated
to v0.93?
