Re: Pages
Hi Ezzie, The header section is where you put anything you want at the top of the page, especially recurring text such as your last name. This is a great place for your name and it is where the page number will go. Footers are for things like footnotes. Add page numbers by going into Insert on the menu bar and selecting auto page numbers. This will open a dialogue that lets you specify where you want the page numbers. Add your name to the header section and you should have what you want. Pages generally copies whatever you put into the first header and puts the same on subsequent headers. This can be helpful or unhelpful, depending on what you need. As for other formatting, you can access most things through the inspector dialogue, which you pull up with CMD+Option+I. I would suggest searching the archives of this list for more info. There several good threads on formatting in pages. Re: piano pub?
I don't believe Pandora lets you move back a song, so you won't be able to do that. As far as picking a new station, make sure to turn off the VO trackpad commander and then click the trackpad once you have highlighted the new station name with VO. This assumes that your mouse cursor follows your VO cursor. If this description doesn't make sense, try checking the archives. Others have explained the process in better words. -Greg On Jun 26, 2011, at 9:15 PM, Kliph&Sharrie wrote: > So has anyone used this app? changing station in PianoPub
Hello all, This morning I discovered that under preferences you can designate a startup station. As far as I can tell, doing this and restarting the program is the only way to change stations with PianoPub. Re: Accessible MUD client
Hi Jane, Could you provide more info about Nuntius? The version I found online is 1.0 and looks like it has been around since 2003 or so. It is also shareware with a 30 day trial. monitoring progress in Abby Fine
Hello all, Is there any way to check the progress of a file conversion in Abby Fine Reader Express? I am converting some large files and it would be helpful to know how much time is left or if Abby is still really working. I have had it get stuck before but because I can't get any valuable info from the interface during a file conversion, I didn't realize until hours later. Thanks for any help. Re: Double line spacing in the pages application can I do this with voiceover?
Hi Maurice, To do this in pages you need to bring up the inspector using Cmd+Option+I. So, first select the text you want to change the spacing for, then bring up the inspector. Make sure the Text radio button is selected in the inspector and then select the Text tab as well. Spacing is one of the options on this page, along with color, alignment, and some others. Re: Inserting bullets n Pages
Hi Joshua, The easiest way I have found to make a bulleted list is to first type your list and then use the inspector to add the bullets. To do this, select the text you want to be in the list. Press CMD+Option+I for the inspector. Make sure the text radio button at the top of the dialog is selected. From here select the list tab and you will find all of the list settings. You can created numbered lists this way as well. Hope this helps. Greg On Jan 10, 2011, at 6:23 PM, Joshua Loya wrote: > Hi all, > Can anyone give me advice on creating a bulleted list in Pages? Re: Mac Mud Clients?
Hi Zack, Lots of people ask this question but I have not seen many responses. I have been playing around with Tintin for the past few days. considering iphone
Hi all, I'm looking at getting a new phone because my current one is dying. I love my ipod touch and think that an iphone would be great, but I'm a stingy student and need to be able to justify the $200 for the phone and the additional $15 a month on the phone bill. If there are ways that having an iphone could significantly increase independence or help with personal organization etc. I would feel that the cost was justifiable. Most of the articles I have found about the iphone for blind and visually impaired users offer vague assertions that the iphone increases the independence of blind people but not a lot of specific info. My guess would be that apps like digit-eyes, saytext, and gps apps could be extremely helpful and would be worth the investment if they worked well. I have read mixed reviews on digit-eyes and saytext though. How viable are these apps? Are there other apps that might make my life easier as a totally blind person? I would appreciate any thoughts or resources that might help answer these questions. Re: Reading bookshare books on the mac
Hi Brandt, Check the archives for more suggestions but the method I use right now is to open the xml version of the book in safari. editing cells in numbers
Hi all, Is there a way to edit the contents of a cell in numbers without overwriting the whole cell? I have tried interacting and moving the cursor to the point in the cell I want to edit, but whenever I start typing it deletes everything that was there. Also, the VO cursor curiously moves two words or letters at a time instead of one. Any thoughts? changing line spacing, font attributes in pages
Hi everyone, I'm having trouble changing my text attributes in pages. I see a number of pop up menus when I stop interacting with the scroll area which contains my text but they are all dimmed and I can't click on them. I have found some of the same options in the format menu and so could accomplish some of the things I need to do. I can't find how to change line spacing through the menus though. Any thoughts on why these buttons are dimmed and I can't use them? Any tips re appreciated. Re: Blackboard, anyone?
I haven't encountered a flash issue and my school is using blackboard 9.1. When I said using blackboard was tricky I just meant it takes some getting used to. Learning to navigate between the different frames and lists and menus can be somewhat cumbersome. A lot of that is my lack of ability with VO too though. I have not encountered anything I could not access yet though. Greg On Sep 7, 2010, at 3:18 PM, Chris Blouch wrote: > As I said, it may depend on what they are using Flash for. Re: Making calls in Skype.
When I want to call or chat with a contact I hit enter on the contact name in the list. A window then comes up with the text chat. I then navigate to the toolbar which has several options. One of them is a call button. When someone calls I just navigate around until I find the answer button. I generally make the calls because I haven't figured out how to answer quickly so I can't describe the process better than that yet. Hope this helps. The free Bible app from lifechurch.tv is quite accessible. I really like it because it has a number of daily reading plans you can choose from. You do have to connect in order to access most versions of the Bible, although the do have a handful of them you can download for use when not connected to wifi. Re: Multiple recipients in "to:" field?
Hi Mike, Someone correct me if there is a better way to do this. What I do is after mail correctly inserts the correct email address into the field, I tab away and then back. Then I interact with the edit field and move the cursor to the end of the field. I then put a comma and a spac and start typing the next address. This seems to work well. Let me know if there is an easier way to do this. -Greg On Aug 28, 2010, at 1:04 PM, Michael Busboom wrote: > Hello everyone, > > Can someone please tell me the best way to insert multiple recipients in the > To: CC: or BCC fields of an e-mail message I wish to send? introduction and questions about switching to mac
Hello everyone, I am brand new to the list. I am looking at getting a new computer and have been thinking for a while about getting a mac. I am starting an M.Ed. at Vanderbilt University in Education of the Visually Impaired this fall and my biggest concern is being able to do my schoolwork on the mac. I have heard and read all kinds of info about what does and doesn't work with voice over and much of the info conflicts. I was wondering if someone could point me to some resources which might help me decide if making the switch is right for me. Any information about how big the learning curve will be for a guy used to Jaws and windows vista would also be appreciated. Things I must be able to do include word processing, reading pdf's, accessing books from bookshare and RFB and D, research on the internet, accessing course notes and presentations, accessing educational sites such as Blackboard, working with braille files, and OCR. Things that are also pretty important to me are access to chat programs like google talk or whatever the mac equivalent is and Skype. That's all I can think of at the moment. I know this is a long list of things but I'm not really sure where to start. Any direction, specific info on one of these topics, or general info about making the transition would be great. Thanks for your help. Greg Aikens -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
