[MMouse]: Juno Show
WOW Juno was just SO amazing - even better (and louder) than their CD. They mentioned that they took a break for four months. Arlie (lead singer) says they are going back into the studio this fall, should be done by X-mas, should be released by Feb. Heard four new awesome songs. He was VERY nice and funny!! They claimed their good friend was "standing in" in bass... H. SO SORRY I missed Welcome - didn't read your post in time :o( If you get a chance to see juno live, GO. Stace snip to whoever ask about juno, i'm assuming you're refering to the croc show, don't know much about them, except that they are supposed to give "passionate" performances, but make sure to get there early enough for the opening band, welcome, one of the best bands in seattle right now. really. snip
Re: [MMouse]: to people still responding to the led zeppelin thread
then what do you have to say about the RAND braintrust that started this whole mess? is every one expempt but you princess amy? no, princess amy already apologized and explained that what she did was stupid and tiresome in her email which she will now repost: as much as i love getting chewed a new asshole, i'm weak, so i'm gonna stop this asshole chewing right here! now this blesblok8 fellow had a good point to his email. he pointed out that i'm an idiot (or at least that i say stupid things!), that my opinions are wrong (see previous implication. it's essentially the same as this one), and that i rile people up. he's wrong about 2/3 of these implications, however: no, i'm not an idiot. when not writing meaningless emails to mailing lists, i actually say stuff that i care about! second, my opinions aren't wrong - that's why they're opinions. there's no way that they can be wrong. but he was right that i rile people up, and i apologize for that. i say things that i believe in my own personal experience to be true, and these words ends up getting blown out of great proportion because i throw around words carelessly for no good reason. do i do this with the intent of pissing everyone off? no. do i do this because i'm an idiot? no. i do it because i simply don't care, and thus i can never seem to learn my lesson to just *keep my mouth shut.* i should add that i do really believe the opinions that i give, otherwise this email will just make me sound like i have no point. so just for the record, i do believe this stuff that i write. i start things up not thinking shit is gonna hit the fan, but then of course it does, and for once even i find myself thinking "god amy, you did something completely tiresome and not worth all the crap that came along with it." have i, in my personal experience, seen a baby come out with disabilities because its mother drank alcohol during the pregnancy? no. that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. do i think led zeppelin is a good band that DIDN'T spawn cockrock? hell no, but these things that i write are my opinions and i've always tried to stress that as much as possible..not to mention that i can acknowledge the fact that other people do like led zeppelin and i won't hold it against them for that. so in a nutshell, i was offended when you said that i don't know what my opinions are, or that i'm saying stupid shit. how organized do you expect people to be online? do you, personally, write emails that are elegantly written and have all the information that you wish to give? because i'll tell you what, after almost four years of reading and responding to email, i can't keep up 100% anymore but i truly do envy anyone who can do that. basically what i'm trying to say is that even i know this time it was a little tiresome, and it hit me not only in an online sense but in an offline sense. it made me want to become more of an elegant writer and say things in taste, and that just because you feel a certain way due to personal experience, it may seem ridiculous to other people. the best i can do is to point out that there is always that choice to just ignore me and people like me, who simply don't think or care about what they write before they write it. i mean i don't feel like i made a huge ass out of myself or anything, because i can't fuel my own fire by just saying "led zeppelin blows goats." i have other people to thank for that, you know? ;) regardless it was something that could've been avoided. with that said, don't worry about getting any attacks, because i'm sure most everyone agrees with you - even i do. but consider the possibility that not everyone sits around their computer organizing their thoughts perfectly just to avoid pissing people they don't know off. i'll leave you all with a quote now by peter from office space: "it's not that i'm lazy, it's that i just don't care." - amy there i'm sorry blah blah - princess amy

[MMouse]: Favorite Mouse lines!
Hey everyone, I was just wondering what everyone's favorite lines from Modest Mouse songs are. No limit to the number, just interested in what people think. My personal favs are: "A third had just been made and we were swimmin in the water, didn't know it then was it a son, was it a daughter? and it occured to me that the animals were swimming, around in the water in the oceans in our bodies, and another had been found, another ocean on the planet, given that our blood is just like the atlantic, and how..." -Third planet and also: "More housing developments go up, named after the things they replace, so welcome to minnow brook, and welcome to shady space" -Novicain Stain. Looking forward to reading some responses, Ciao everyone! -Ben

Re: [MMouse]: are we breathing?
I was there. Yes, Bright Eyes sucked, but I don't think it was the middle east's fault. It was Conner who broke his own string and Conner's equipent that was malfunctioning. And they said he had time for another song, but he didn't seem to care. I don't think he was really trying very hard to make the best of a bad situation. The only thing the Middle East did (or didn't do rather) that made me mad was not kicking out that fucking heckler in the back. - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, July 23, 2000 8:52 PM Subject: [MMouse]: are we breathing? is everyone ok? anyone at bright eyes in boston last night? that show nearly broke my heart. i knew the middle east would find a way to ruin a perfect band. .mer.

But, I've never been fond of the middle east...especially upstairs. The sound is awful and things always seem to go wrong that never go wrong anywhere else. Tonight was Mark Kozalek of Red House Painters. It was hot as hell with way too many people inside. And the best part was that during quiet songs you could hear the shit fom the Corner or Downstairs. awesome. Even he was getting pissed. It was still a good show, though. Boston is in deperate need of a better venue for small shows. .mer.

holy shit, you liked the new "lolita"? that was one of the worst movies i have ever seen. i enjoyed the kubrick version of it, but the new one was almost like HBO soft-core cheesy porn. the girl who played lolita (dominique swain?) was a good actor, as well as jeremy irons. but other than that, the movie was terrible. ~blake - Original Message - From: norske ho [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, July 21, 2000 2:04 PM Subject: Re: [MMouse]: Re: Digest modestmouse.v001.n1063 Zach - You kick ass. Well Francesca, how very classy of you. I'm happy to send out stickers to anyone who wants some (even though I said I wasn't going to take any more requests), but don't act like you deserve them, or like I'm being an asshole if I respond to a request in a sarcastic way (especially when asking for a double order of stickers, like you did). [MMouse]: bottle rocket vs. rushmore
it's a tough one. i can't decide which i loved more, 'bottle rocket' or 'rushmore.' bottle rocket was one-of-a-kind. to this day, i've never seen anything quite like it. it's so abstrusely funny and bizaar--full of perplexing scenes and dialogue. the tape on the nose, anthony's flourishing romance with inez, the yellow jumpsuit, etc. while 'rushmore' had plenty of these types of things, it somehow seemed more familiar to me; possibly because it had a definite harold and maude/the graduate feel to it. i wasn't immediately reminded of any movie while watching bottle rocket. 'rushmore' is great though. i think that wes anderson is one of our greatest hopes as far as directors go. i only hope he continues to make movies in the same vein as these two--not in your face humor and spoon fed story lines. as for owen and luke wilson, i didn't think they looked too much alike at all. they're not twins. i do know that they have made some crappy movies since bottle rocket--don't see 'dog park' and has anyone seen 'minus man'? i still don't know what i thought of this one. if anyone can recommend movies similar to these two, please do so. otherwise, i'll have to go see 'coyote ugly.'

[MMouse]: RE: Bottle Rocket and Other Delights
Warning, long, bored at work post about movies and what not. I lost my digest, but someone was talking about Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Wes Anderson, Etc. I remember someone saying Bottle Rocket was 'strange'. I don't know if I would call it strange, but it is not your typical plot-driven movie so some people don't really see the point that the meat of the movie is in the underlying themes.. which aren't themselves very deep or hard to catch.. Dignan sums it up at the end when he says something like, "Funny you were in the nut house, now I'm in Jail".. how they were both not normal people or didn't want to conform and how you can end up.. and how that's not so bad.. and how maybe Anthony lost some of his craziness and gained some sanity and Dignan helped him with that by taking the rap for what they did... reminds me of, uhm, Midnight Cowboy, how Dustin Hoffman (Rizzo?) saves John Voight from himself but he himself loses (I won't spoil anything if you haven't seen it). A funny thing Wes Anderson said on IFC about Bottle Rocket... and he is a really funny guy.. was that the script to bottle rocket was not very well written and they really didn't know how to write one.. but when some critics liked the movie they called it 'character driven' instead of 'lacking plot'. I appreciate his self deprecating attitude, however he knows Bottle Rocket came out really great because not many movies walk that territory of being such fun character studies that don't have much of a plot to get in the way of that. Rushmore had both.. well drawn characters and some plot movement.. it's hard to pick my favorite between the two though.. I think in the long run Bottle Rocket would win out.. because it doesn't have so much plot.. if I watched them both 5 times Rushmore would probably get old because the plot is a bigger part and you know the plot so well it wears thinner faster. Which brings me to my last, and final point, about how much I love DRY MOVIES. I've got a little list in my head of my favorites and never have written them down but I should before I forget them. The driest movies you can watch are these: Paris, Texas - the scene where Harry Denton Stanton confronts his estranged wife, Natasha Kinksi will make your heart stop for about 15 mins which is about how long the scene seems to last where they look at eachother though this glass window of a peep-show booth. Fargo - Blood Simple is fairly dry, but Fargo is the driest thing the Coen Brothers have done. It could be drier than it is, but it's perfect the way it is so I can't complain. This is near the bottom of my dry films top ten list. Stroisek / Aguire the Wrath of God - Both by Werner Herzog, both really dry and foreign. One about a guy who come to American looking for a better life.. he buys a big American color TV. and trailer house on credit then gets it all taken away. Aguire is an outstanding movie also, it has Germans who are playing Spaniards. There is a scene that seems to be lifted from one of my favorite books, the original Tarzan story. It ends much like Stroisek.. one of the most incredible endings of any film ever created. If this is EVER on the big screen it must be seen. Panic in Needle Park - one of Al Pacino's first movies and one of his best. VERY, VERY dry movie. I don't think there is even a soundtrack, just cold grey streets and dingy apartments and sad people doing heroin. Lots of great performances in the film from people who I don't know their names. I think the female lead went on to play the nanny in the exorcist. Watch this when you want a dry one. Oh yeah, it's sort of a love story too. Almost. American Job - Chris Smith's first movie before his great documentary American Movie. This is dryer than dry, like me and Elwood Blues like their toast. It can be painful to watch, but it's also hilarious at the same time. I bet EVERYONE can relate to at least one of the jobs this guy has.. food service.. phone work.. a job you have to work late hours... 2001 / Barry Lyndon - Movies you can watch over and over. I've only seen the second half of Barry Lyndon (it's 3 hours), but I've seen it 3 times. I will finally get to see the first half in the theater soon. Eyes Wide Shut was certainly dry, but so.. inextricable? As not to be as much fun to watch, if indeed you do consider watching 2.5 hour dry movies fun like I do. Maybe if I figured it out I would include it. Bad Lands - Great dry movie! While no one could draw a bead on Thin Red Line, everyone should consider Bad Lands a masterpiece. It's a movie that you watch it a few times and you can think in your mind of most any scene and see it perfectly.. because unlike most movies now it's not composed of thousands of cuts.. it's very minimal in that aspect and it's beautiful and it so much does not follow the formula for road movies that was created by the various Bonnie and Clyde films. There is a short but priceless scene where Sissy Spacek and Martin

[MMouse]: Band T-Shirts/posters
Alright, does anybody know of any sites to get good band t-shirts or posters for any of these bands (i'm just copying it from my profile, but if you know of others i might like...): pavement, modest mouse, built to spill, pixies, silver jews, flaming lips, weezer, elliott smith, dismemberment plan, death cab for cutie, neutral milk hotel, bright eyes. I know a lot of them are a stretch, but any information would be helpful. Because my brother will soon be off to college, much needed wall-space will be available (Pink Floyd/Doors/Led Zeppelin poster - ROT IN HELL'S BASEMENT!!). All I have are 4 modest mouse posters (buffalo, lonesome, 2000 tour, this sweet one from the recent concert at the Metro in Chicago {did anyone else buy it?}) and a small flaming lips one. And one can never have too many t-shirts. Come on, don't you think you're being a little bit rash?? Nevermind, of course you don'tbut you are. Look at the situation from his point of view..he's using his time, his resources, his money to send out hundreds of stickers. Did he have to? No. He volunteered to do this for us graciously, probably not expecting the large volume of responses he received. But, he did/is doing his best to accommodate everyone. Now, ungrateful, impatient, un-understanding people are complaining that they aren't getting what they want. I don't know you or your story so I won't pass judgement on anyone. But, when you say "I want, I want, I want", not to mention rudely, you aren't apt to get it unless you're a spoiled brat. Just something to take into consideration the next time you think about asking for something. No, I'm NOT accusing anyone of anything or forming impressions of anyone I don't know so don't write me on that issue. I'm just looking at what I've seen and telling you how it looks from my point of view -- not how YOU are, just how it looks. you know, in [EMAIL PROTECTED]'s defense, he did offer if anyone wanted stickers several weeks ago, and severeal parties requested and got stickers, all because they asked nicely and waited patiently while someone was kind enough to do them a favor. people being rude to someone who is going out of his way to do something for someone is something that shouldn't be tolerated, so don't get mad. you know who you are. dany.
[MMouse]: Re: Digest modestmouse.v001.n1063
Zach - You kick ass. I couldn't have mentioned a better set of movies...however, I am going to try to add four to your list... the spanish prisoner. drama. written by david mamet. starring steve martin in his most unfunny role ever - perhaps his most brilliant work. the acting is great, and the plot and characters are even better! you know how when you watch a bad horror movie you always feel this urge to yell at the characters on screen? like "no, don't go in there, you'll die!" well, you'll want to do that during this movie, but in a really good way! just an incredible movie, and one of the best plots ever. i'm usually not a plot person. i'm definately more for bottle rocket than i am rushmore, but this movie has one of the best plots ever. fecking incredible. homicide. drama/mystery. written by david mamet. notice a theme here? starring william h. macy and joe mantegna. mantenga turns in a gem of a performance in this film about jews and anti-semitism in new york city. mantenga is a jewish cop torn between his heritage and his badge. again, a brilliant plot, but who would expect anything less from david mamet! not me. however brilliant the plot, it takes a back seat to the development of joe mantegna's character. david mamet rules. lulu on the bridge. drama. written/directed by acclaimed american author, paul auster. a quasi theme continues - literary film! starring harvey keitel, mira sorvino(swoon!), willem dafoe, and gina gershon. mira and harvey are the best parts of this movie, esp. mira who is brilliant and as always, beautiful. the movie is more like one of paul auster's novels than it is like his other two movies (smoke and blue in the face) which were mildly disappointing. so if you like paul auster's novels, you'll LOVE this movie. this is often available at blockbuster...but it's hard to find. the music of chance. drama/mystery. based on the novel by paul auster. the novel is probably my second favorite book ever (trailing only saul bellow's henderson the rain king) and the movie doesn't disappoint. starring james spader and mandy patinkin, the movie truly captures the self exploration of the books protagonist. i suggest you watch this movie if you want to be truly moved by the inner struggles of a real person. that's all from me. i'll go crawl back into a corner with my david foster wallace stories and rachel albums wishing for fall to come sooner. end.transmission john.bot v3.201
[MMouse]: warped tour bullshit
I hate people. explanation: I worked at the Warped Tour today. I was there with a radio station, and I couldn't believe how many wanna-be punk kids gave us shit for being "corporate." Did these morons not realize that the Warped Tour is now complete bullshit? In Boston it was sponsored by a local mainstream radio station for fuck's sake. Plus, all the shitty bands that played are radio-friendly rip offs of good bands. And some of them just fucking suck (bif naked). If I never see another pre-pubescent punk kid clutching a $25 concert ticket that was probably purchased by his parents (who probably work for a corporation) I'll be thrilled. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind fighting for a cause that you believe in. But these kids constantly contridict themselves.. I'm sure when their parents put dinner in front of them, they don't stop to bitch about where their parents got the money from. on the bright side: nofx was good. they're funny as hell. oh yeah, and green day set their drums on fire. no more complaining, mer. and thanks for the stickers again. some of us do appreciate it. we also like to say please and thank you.

[MMouse]: and then i said..fuck it!
as much as i love getting chewed a new asshole, i'm weak, so i'm gonna stop this asshole chewing right here! now this blesblok8 fellow had a good point to his email. he pointed out that i'm an idiot (or at least that i say stupid things!), that my opinions are wrong (see previous implication. it's essentially the same as this one), and that i rile people up. he's wrong about 2/3 of these implications, however: no, i'm not an idiot. when not writing meaningless emails to mailing lists, i actually say stuff that i care about! second, my opinions aren't wrong - that's why they're opinions. there's no way that they can be wrong. but he was right that i rile people up, and i apologize for that. i say things that i believe in my own personal experience to be true, and these words ends up getting blown out of great proportion because i throw around words carelessly for no good reason. do i do this with the intent of pissing everyone off? no. do i do this because i'm an idiot? no. i do it because i simply don't care, and thus i can never seem to learn my lesson to just *keep my mouth shut.* i should add that i do really believe the opinions that i give, otherwise this email will just make me sound like i have no point. so just for the record, i do believe this stuff that i write. i start things up not thinking shit is gonna hit the fan, but then of course it does, and for once even i find myself thinking "god amy, you did something completely tiresome and not worth all the crap that came along with it." have i, in my personal experience, seen a baby come out with disabilities because its mother drank alcohol during the pregnancy? no. that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. do i think led zeppelin is a good band that DIDN'T spawn cockrock? hell no, but these things that i write are my opinions and i've always tried to stress that as much as possible..not to mention that i can acknowledge the fact that other people do like led zeppelin and i won't hold it against them for that. so in a nutshell, i was offended when you said that i don't know what my opinions are, or that i'm saying stupid shit. how organized do you expect people to be online? do you, personally, write emails that are elegantly written and have all the information that you wish to give? because i'll tell you what, after almost four years of reading and responding to email, i can't keep up 100% anymore but i truly do envy anyone who can do that. basically what i'm trying to say is that even i know this time it was a little tiresome, and it hit me not only in an online sense but in an offline sense. it made me want to become more of an elegant writer and say things in taste, and that just because you feel a certain way due to personal experience, it may seem ridiculous to other people. the best i can do is to point out that there is always that choice to just ignore me and people like me, who simply don't think or care about what they write before they write it. i mean i don't feel like i made a huge ass out of myself or anything, because i can't fuel my own fire by just saying "led zeppelin blows goats." i have other people to thank for that, you know? ;) regardless it was something that could've been avoided. with that said, don't worry about getting any attacks, because i'm sure most everyone agrees with you - even i do. but consider the possibility that not everyone sits around their computer organizing their thoughts perfectly just to avoid pissing people they don't know off. i'll leave you all with a quote now by peter from office space: "it's not that i'm lazy, it's that i just don't care." - amy

Girlfriend, are you crazy?! Led Zeppelin is responsible for the GOOD things we like now... whenever you hear a bowed instrument played in a rock song (Nirvana, Modest Mouse) you can thank Jimmy Page. And also thank them for taking inspiration from non-Western music in making a lot of their music.. and for experimenting with keyboards and theremins in their rock... A ton of great bands show open influence of Zep.. mainly the Flaming Lips and Soundgarden...Beastie Boys.. and others... Anyways, blaming Zep for cock rock is like blaming Jaws for Twister and Volcano or Pyscho for the Hand that Rocks the Cradle. One thing might have led to the other, but don't blame the originals for what came after! Also while many of their songs were about sex and booze, their lyrics were nothing like the cock-rockers were. If I had to point fingers I would point at AC/DC, God Bless 'Em. Songs like Big Balls led the way for a whole new breed of suck, like the Crue, and Ratt, who I loved btw. I don't know how you could listen to songs like Kashmir, or In The Light, Traveling River Side Blues.. and even THINK of Cock Rock!! Now I'm just ranting - Zep might have been the most talented band ever - Unlike bands today where one member carries the rest of the band for the most part IE Nirvana, Modest Mouse, Pavement (my favorite bands) they were a balanced attack. I guess it didn't hurt they sold their souls to the Devil. I can perhaps concede that Zep changed music and less talented imitators might have filled the gap that Zep left between themselves and the rest of music.. but I can't see anyone saying nothing good came from Zeppelin... the same argument could apply to Nirvana.. it's only because of Nirvana I had to put up with the likes of Bush and STP.. but it's also because of Nirvana we got a lot of good music. So hate tha game, but don't hate tha playa's. p.s. I think I'm too old for brite eyes too. As for 80's music, it did kind of suck.. and I grew up with it.. sure.. I loved Michael Jackson and Duran Duran but there are not a lot of bands who I see as leaving a permanent mark on music that came from the 80's.. maybe the Talking Heads.. but a lot of their stuff doesn't hold up that well now even.. I'll always remember it for the hip-hop that came out of the mid-late 80's.. RUN DMC, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Eric B. and Rakim, EPMD, NWA, Grand Master Flash, LL, and on and on.. I pretty much got out listening to rock for many years because hip hop was so good then and rock wasn't, or at least the rock I had access to. i was pretty obviously talking about the correlation between led zeppelin and the corporate rock (ie cockrock) of the 80s...there was nothing good that came out of led zeppelin, that's the point i was trying to prove. and it's true, nothing good came out of led zeppelin ;) - amy -- -=-Za c h 's -=- Home Page for Dummies http://fc.net/~zachd -=- Radio Frank - Shoutcast - http://fc.net/~zachd/main.htm - 209.217.181.109:8000

Am I seeing things or are people bashing led zeppelin? I can't believe this. Do you have any idea how many of your favorite bands were influenced by zeppelin? Tons and Tons. Why? Cause they're awesome. Who cares if they're cheesy with long hair and no shirts. For god sakes, Doug Martch of Built to Spill is like an old man with a balding head and a beard. It's all about the music. I think we all know that. We all have our opinions. To each his own. That doesn't mean I have to like it though. You are all my sweet bitches, neil
Re: [MMouse]: RE: Led Zeppelin
fuck that. fuck "thanking" bands for their influence. fuck led zepplin fuck the beatles. fuck the rolling stones. fuck bob dylan. fuck the velvet underground. that stuff was original and groundbreaking in it's own time and that's great, but guess what? i wasn't around then and it sounds boring now. issac brock writes better lyrics than lou reed. pavement writes better hooks than the beatles. doug martsch is a better guitarist than jimi hendrix. of course the beatles we're unimaginably ground-breaking when they first appeared; nothing had been done yet... the possibilities for innovation where unlimited. but look at modest mouse: 40 years later, look how far they're pushing the miniscule amount of uncharted territory they have to work with. the rolling stones have been making the same fucking album over and over for 30 years, but no one gives a shit about their new stuff. is it because mick jagger is getting worse? no, it's because the dismemberment plans and modest mouses of the world are the ones making progress now, and what worked 20 or 30 years ago doesn't cut it today. simply put: it's not as good. "out with the old and in with the new", that's what I say! On 18 Jul 2000, at 9:09, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Girlfriend, are you crazy?! [MMouse]: elvis?
Ok, so I'm not gonna continue on with the Led Zeppelin discussion, since I'd rather not take sides and fuel the fire. However, I do think Led Zeppelin has some beautiful work(s). I by no means have pursued listening or buying any of their stuff in the past few years, but they do have an apparent impact... Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips-- I know that fer sure. From what I understand, they helped pick rock n' roll up from a fairly stagnant pop culture in the late 60's. oh well. I, for one, lost a lot of respect for Jimmy Page and the band when Page came in and "endorsed" the likes of Puff Daddy. ick! ;) ... and then David Bowie-- I still love Bowie no matter what, mostly for his earlier (70s) stuff, but Bowie must've sold the rights to someone so Puff Daddy could tear up "Let's Dance". It's as if Puff Daddy was given permission to tear up all the good music. And it's especially terrible when Jessica Simpson, I think that's who did it, took a bad 80s song and remixed the music, or a riff, to fit her voice and big tits. What's the world coming to? a remix of the 60s, 70s, and 80s? (society on the whole) However, Elvis was brought up a minute ago... and I still wonder what he did for music, IN MY OPINION-- he started something, but I have yet to hear something I actually like or take to. I mean, I listen to the Oldies station mostly when I get sick of my mix tapes and he's one of the main artists I just cannot stand to listen to. maybe someone can cite who Elvis has influenced, but... ??? Also, Doug Martsch better than Jimi Hendrix on guitar?... Doug is great, but how can you substantiate that?... how can you qualify such a thing? I understand maybe you're going for a matter of opinion as far as their styles go, but the better of the 2? fuck it, DOOD! --Jacob Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

I wrote that. I think it's funny that people have such a knee-jerk reaction to someone saying "__ is better than the beatles/rolling stones/velvet underground". It's like, as a music fan, you're required to accept as fact "the The Beatles will never be topped". I'm not going to buy into that crap: can anyone fathom that maybe - just maybe - I REALLY do think that Pavement is a better band than the Beatles? Musical taste is so personal; importance, influence... these words mean nothing to mean. I don't care about those qualities. Is Bob Dylan more influential than Stephen Malkmus. Yes. Absolutely. No question. But is he better? No. I don't think he is. That's my opinion, and so in my little sphere of reality, it's fact. Really, I just feel sorry for people who would respond to my original post with a comment like "are you human?". That's fucked up.

When the hell did Duran Duran become whiny britpop? Have you ever actually heard them? jesus. .mer.

i'm so serious... horribly, bone-chillingly serious. read very carefully: I DON'T LIKE THE BEATLES AS MUCH AS I LIKE PAVEMENT. Re: [MMouse]: RE: Led Zeppelin
i wasn't arguing with your opinion...if you like pavement more than the beatles, so be it..i could really care less...however, to make such a bold statement like "pavement writes better hooks than the beatles"..is an atrocious thought in itself..even if it is your opinion... -- Tour de Force, Defacto, Ayuchuco! -- chris - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 18, 2000 7:42 PM Subject: Re: [MMouse]: RE: Led Zeppelin i'm so serious... horribly, bone-chillingly serious. read very carefully: I DON'T LIKE THE BEATLES AS MUCH AS I LIKE PAVEMENT.
