For sure the OSM-PH data has grown tremendously in the the past 2 years. There a number of factors that may have contributed to this growth. I would like to focus the presentation on on 4 main points. Perhaps you can help me develop the discussion. 1. The osm-ph community. Who is the community? What characterize a PH OSMer? How do we map? What are the innovative ways we do to improve the map? Are the data users part of this community? Is the talk-ph list and discussions here a representative sample of the osm-ph community? 2. How do we use the data? Some sample of data useage we can illustrate. Maybe a ph brewed mapping application? Or other ways you have used the data? If there are any, please provide a link or description and a screenshot. 3. Issues and concerns. Why are we growing in some areas but not in others? How do you guage our relationship with other crowdsource mapping initiative in the country (google mapmaker, roadguide.ph, wikimapia)? 4. The future. How do you see the state of PH data in a year or two? What should be done to further improve and expand data coverage? If you any thoughts, just send them here or as a PM. Thanks! JOSM has no specific symbols for nodes that are a node in a cycle route network. You can see such nodes are highlighted in grey, because it has attributes, but that is all. The proposed 'change' makes that the cycle node numbers are displayed in JOSM (in the way a cityname is displayed), which facilitates checking and editing cycle routes of a network. Gerard. [OSM-talk] All countries extracts
Dear All! I'm currently truing to create a system to produce extracts of all countries of the world and maintain them in an up-to-date state. The extracts are created by cutting the planet with osmosis. The polygons used are made from countries borders taken from OSM. Please have a look at the extracts at: http://routing.osm.rambler.ru/extracts/world.php You can find there the extract in osm.pbf format, the link to the .poly file used, the link to the border relation used. Not all countries are present there for the moment due to some errors in scripts. That will be fixed. I would be grateful for bug reports - first of all on the accuracy of extraction, correct borders and so on. Please keep in mind that for performance purposes osmosis is run with omitmettadata=true, so no date, changeset or author information will be found in the extracts. This is a temporary measure. This is currently an beta-stage, so the extracts are a little bit outdated. I know I am not the first one to create extracts, but more is never worse that less :) Kirill aka Ezhick ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

By allowing CT-compliant editors to modify and save CT-compliant earlier versions rather than CT-non-compliant later versions we avoid the possibility of generating more CT-non-compliant tainted data than we have already. The acceptance or otherwise of this peculiar class of data where the author has on the one hand said that anyone can do anything with their data, but later tried to retract that by declining the contributor terms is an interesting issue of policy. I can see both sides of the argument. However, I believe the changes I am suggesting will be of procedural value, regardless of how these policy issues are resolved. Hi Liz, This is fine and good, and common knowledge. However, when you start looking at the road at the micro-level on the ground, it ain't that simple. The original route designated during the Prince's visit isn't easy to identify, having been many decades since his visit. Since then towns have been bypassed, roads have been renamed, realigned, opened and closed. The RTA in NSW has an internal route that they call the Princes Highway - which is essentially the main road heading south along the coast (give or take). They nominate this route because it is the one they maintain as a state govt road with state funding. The only problem is, the the route they designate often doesn't follow the road named the Princes Highway, like the section from Bellambi to Fairy Meadow where the RTA route called the Princes Highway follows the Northern Distributor, rather than the Princes Highway. Confusing? The situation gets even worse in Victoria where you have some isolated sections of the Princes Highway running parallel to the Princes Freeway, The Princes Highway named sections don't form a through route. Other towns have a bypass route and through-town route - neither of which are called the Princes Highway. Which to choose? But the ref number does not equal the Princes Highway. Yes. What I'm talking about here is a route relation. I'm arguing that we don't need a named route relation called the Princes Highway. We should call the roads involved what they are called using the name tag on the roads. We should use the appropriate numerical route designators as they apply for the route descriptors, either using the ref tag, or a route relation. If people see the need to link the Princes Highway named sections as a common street using the appropriate relations for that purpose, then fine. Do you agree? It seems the Princes Highway can mean different things to different people, and unlike the route and highway numbers, we don't have a fixed reference point. Route 1 is Cairns to Darwin via coast, and was signposted thus in the 60s. Yeah. National Route 1 is groovy, man. An actual connected route along roads on the ground in this instance either doesn't exist or cannot be determined from any verifiable source. OSM requires verifiabilityhttp://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Verifiability, for reasons I consider apparent. A route relation requires that there be an actual, connected route.
[Talk-it] Case dell'acqua

A suivre.
