- -- Simone Girardelli _|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_ |_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_| -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1 iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJUz+w0AAoJEMTPIIVov0Zt3H4H/Apbem+CKhrPhCAt21Ql7XII AL4hYQqAh3G4RTAxulMa4rzXV1ruGY1kpPPsGJFmge4pP89+vGc4NgHcrYKW42OL ZNLrsAXXPkpjr83Y8NW1BqAa4d2JGP871MBf+y7pA302pohnyp7Ox2ZsZD0QV0x5 S8qHKjkm79lsDAJM5cCxAkOl/33aUVpG//+NTuQ317QVbyyZCXXioPo3dz+5LKsv pFvr0efDIEtzkHk264MgWJHq3ycUXGo1vAJvApXoCv0hEHh7KvJuHJyQjMXZe4kZ cgqcOLH9iUdGAn6RLQoL8CSCzcKSK+ffAn8ULZ0f6TstXdR7I7MMTV4wBzUej2k= =84JH -END PGP SIGNATURE- ___ Talk-it mailing list Talk-it@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it

OK, I thought about that but I don't know how to combine this with the tag name? Also, I wonder if there are a way to search by the id of the OSM object.
___ Talk-nl mailing list Talk-nl@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-nl

That comes down to a AND operation which, unfortunately, is not as explicitly and as clearly explained as OR which is the union. But hold on and read examples. For overpass is one of the rare things that are not fuzzy, just the explanation is, a bit in places ;-) Creating overpass objects (a set) from plain OSM elements identified by ID is explained here http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_API/Overpass_QL#By_element_id.. For overpass, an area is an object type of its own, in addition to node, way and relation. It has an ID of its own too and I myself wondered before how to find it. [talk-au] Cycling network tag
I tend to agree with Nicholas Barker and Steve Bennett. When I was heavily involved in editing the map in Canberra, I had to decide how to tag cycle networks. I chose to only use lcn for those routes which were signed. i.e. had those blue signs with arrows showing a destination. And I added all related ways to a relation and labelled the relation as lcn. This was because it was clearly an attempt by the local government to create a network, and I felt openstreetmap should reflect that. This meant some “highway=footway” were included in the lcn relation, because that was what was on the ground. There were also “highway=cycleway” which I didn’t add to the lcn network, just because they didn't yet have signposts (maybe not ever). I only did the cycle paths, not the on-road routes. This is much harder to e.g. Sydney CBD where there are routes and some infrastructure, but only recently such destination signs were erected. So I understand the local taggers use lcn directly on ways. Which to me just means that different locations should tag things differently. In Newcastle, I’ve been tagging from council documents, because I doubt local council is going to do much work in putting signs up, even though they have recently been putting infrastructure in. I don’t though, use ncn, because there is no nationwide body building bicycle networks. For this reason, I think the current ncn tags on the roads between Canberra and Sydney, and Newcastle to Maitland just shouldn’t be there. But I don’t ride those routes, so will leave them be. I think that my map-drawing should reflect what is on the ground. Adding a route to lcn/rcn just because “this is a good route because of elevation or because lots of people use it” should not be the case. That would be a job for me with a bicycle-advocacy hat on to ask a local body to put signs up. Editing a map is much easier, well-meaning, but I also think less honest. ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au

Re: [OSM-talk-fr] Espaces demi m....
There's no copyright involved in this case. Copyright doesn't matter here. Copyright isn't the reason why OSM exists. We're talking about Sui Generis database rights ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Database_Directive). The problem with database rights is that there are only very few trials that used it. So there are not many examples on what a substantial part or even a database is. However, when interpreting the texts, you see that a database is - A collection of different records: there are different streets with data - Possible to see one record at a time: seeing the parking time of a single street makes sense when you're looking for a parking place (which is the intended purpose of this map) The Sui Generis right protects - qualitative or quantitative data: it's both here. The amount of streets is complete, and the information about those streets is complete - substantial investment of time in either the obtaining, verification or presentation of the contents: Here it's about presentation. The information can simply be obtained by reading the decisions from the municipal council. However, presenting it in a GIS database, and rendering that map takes
Re: [OSM-talk] Galaxy S3 for Mapping
I'm not sure if this was an issue with all S3s but mine had a tendency to jump back to the last place where a GPS lock was acquired for up to about 10 seconds when I first turned on an app that required GPS positioning. Not the last place I was when using GPS but the place I was when the GPS system was booted up the last time. Seemed like an odd thing but it happened consistently. But yeah, running a GPS logging app in the background to keep a constant lock will probably help. At the expense of battery life of course. Re: [OSM-talk-be] Map without attribution
Since you're a mapper in Ostend, your data is probably also on the map, which makes you one of the copyright holders. So you can even write the mail in your own name. The letter is good, though I wouldn't only ask attribution for the future publications. I'd also ask to add attribution to the already-printed publications. This is possible with a small cheap sticker, so not too difficult either. Asking to free the toilets dataset wouldn't hurt either (they don't even have to do anything technically, we can just copy it from the OSM-based printed map and the listed addresses). These two and many other Brazilian highways could be split according to operator, as many of these are privately maintained on contracts, where the maintaining operator have the right to charge toll fee. At the moment I only have accurate information about one operator on BR-101, which operates on the stretch from the intersection to city of Mucuri, southern Bahia to the border between Espirito Santo and Rio de Janeiro.
Re: [OSM-talk-be] Overpass-turbo issue with Luxembourg
You should include the correct admin_level in the query A region has an admin_level=4, a province has admin_level=6, an arrondissement has admin_level=7, a municipality has an admin_level=8, a part-municipality or city district has admin_level=9 (note that part-municipalities aren't mapped everywhere, since there's no current data about it). I know it can be confusing with provinces and cities having the same name (it happens even more often with arrondissements and cities), but this is about the only solution (else you start losing a lot of rendering space, or have to add a bazilllion of other tags for all different languages).
[Talk-gb-london] Pub meet-up tomorrow night at the Blue Posts
Sorry for the short notice but... Tomorrow (Tuesday) night we'll be at the Blue Posts for a (probably quite small) casual social pub meet-up It's this pub on Newman Street: http://osm.org/go/euu4OnIv?m= Take care not to go to a different Blue Posts pub! When you get there... check upstairs! This is small pub, but it does have a very sneakily hidden staircase leading to more seating upstairs. We'll aim to get a table somewhere, so might well end up upstairs. We'll also aim to get organised with an OpenStreetMap sign and / or an orange OSM Surveyors Jacket / Polo shirts. My mobile number in case you can't find us: O7979815O13 From here we usually end up moving on at about 8 / 8:30 pm to node 787474861 before returning to the pub after burritos. You can sign up on lanyrd here: http://lanyrd.com/2015/openstreetmap-london-2-feb/ By signing up there, you make the event look more popular (Note: A lot of people don't bother signing up. We expect between 5 and 15 people. It is popular, honest) Hope to see you tomorrow! As always... We map what's on the ground? Im ÖPNV gibt es das auch. Re: [Talk-at] Erforderliche Attribution für OpenStreetMap-Karten
Especially since I'm not completely sure where the stations are in the towns it stops in (and we still have a jazz museum that's somehow impossibly broke essentially squatting Tulsa Station at this point). Eventually I want to set up an OpenTripPlanner instance to handle bicycle and mass transport trip planning on a statewide scale here. Paul, as I said in a previous post, there are sensible steps for entering rail data into OSM in the USA so they both render well in ORM and build good data structures for logic like OpenTripPlanner: 1) Name rail segments: tag with operator=Name of rail agency, name=Name of subdivision or line. Often, existing TIGER data for rail lines have name=Name of rail agency, so simply change the name= tag to operator= (keeping the value) and add a new name= tag which is the well-known name of the subdivision or line name of the rail segment (not the system name, owner or operator of the rail). 2) Assure that each railway= tag is correct: rail, light_rail, subway, tram, etc. Usually rail is correct, unless the rail is part of a network such as a light_rail, subway or tram system. 3) Assign a usage= tag to each named segment: main, branch, industrial, military or tourism. 4) Group identically-named segments together into a relation with type=route, route=railway. This is a relation for a NAMED RAIL. It is virtually always the case that all elements have the same usage= tag (on each of the member objects, not as a tag on the relation). 5) Create a DIFFERENT (from the one above) relation for each particular passenger service route (such as Eastern Flyer) containing all of the rail segments that make up that route. Don't forget to add all of the railway=station and/or public_transport=platform elements to this relation, too. This relation may also have additional tags such as from, to, via, ref and network. Do read up on public_transport, as there are legacy and newer ways to tag these, and your application may require a specific tagging scheme. By doing this, ORM, OpenTripPlanner (and others) have much or all of what they need. The GTFS specification and its OSM wiki page (as well as other, specific routing documentation) can fill in any additional details which may be needed. And, of course: have fun! Re: [OSM-talk-fr] 26 futurs géomaticiens formés à OSM
@Nicolas.
Stotelių fiziniuose ženkluose rašoma įvairiai: vienur su „st.“, kitur - be. Tarkim vilniustransport.lt rašoma be „st.“. Re: [Talk-it] Uso delle Note
[Talk-br] BR-116 split and cleanup
In the course of redacting some Tracksource data from the database, I came across a relation for BR-116 which had about 2400 members and was version 1000. A relation like this is a problem for various practical reasons such as edit conflicts, getting history, and generally being impossible to work with. I've split it up into four relations with a super-relation (http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/4551470), the standard method for dealing with very long highways. The parts are in the north (osm.org/relation/4551466), around Rio de Janerio (osm.org/relation/4551467), around Sao Paulo (osm.org/relation/4551468) and in the south (osm.org/relation/4551469). The tracksource redaction is temporarily paused, but should now be much faster as it doesn't have to work with that mega-relation.
