Does that work from forwarding via a filter though, as i haven't seen
any pop ups. Please bear in mind the age of this version of TB!,
perhaps it's something only available in later versions Stuart? Thanks

When you forward a message you get a pop -up that has a lot of choices
including
whether of not to include attachments and whether it is test or HTML. You may
want to play with those. The other option is to redirect instead of forwarding.
That usually leaves things as they initially were.

Sorry, the wife threw a Christmas party so it's been manic here I
removed all the continue filtering ticks and revised a few filter
orders. I also removed a few redundant ones. I am a lot of mailing
lists hence so many filters to send content to a dedicated folder.
Things are now infinitely better, thank you so very much! There are a
few anomalies, but I have now worked out how to put the messages back
in the Inbox and manually run a filter with logging to see what filter
is placing them incorrectly. I am ALMOST at a perfect situation!
Awesome, and greatly appreciated.

One question though. Mail with photo content or linkss to web sites,
when transferred to my phone via GMAIL loses that content and appears
plain text, with no photos or clickable links. That makes them fairly
useless. is there a means to have GMAIL show them on the phone as they
originally appeared on my main PC please?

I think with a final few tweaks to the order of filters things will be
nigh on 100% :) Again, thanks to all for tips and time spent!

OK, I did receive your PM with your filters. OMG! How many do you
have? With so many, I think you may be prone to 'loosing control'.

I have just taken a quick look at them (will do so in more detail over
the weekend) and so far I have seen two things:

- You have other (several) filters that do forward messages to your
gmail account.

- I have seen that most (if not all) have the Option "Continue
processing with other filters" set/ticked. Why this? Any reason why
you want a message be 'tested' by all your filters? If a message
matches the condition of the first (or Nth) filter, I see no sense in
checking possible matches with the rest of them.

Unless you have a good reason to have this option set, untick it in
all filters and try and see if there is a difference.

OK, what I would do in your case:

Filter: My New Mail Folder
Condition: If Sender... or Recipient ...
 Action: None (Yes NONE)

 Sub-filter: Forward Mail
  Condition: Any Message
  Action: Move to the folder
  Forward message

Both actions are included in the sub-filter because the sub-filter
will ONLY be tested and executed IF the condition in the filter is
true.

Try it. You don't have to replace your current filters. Just

Filtering question

2017-12-06 Thread Chris Wilson

06 December 2017

I have a new Smartphone (Moto G4) and not being used to modern phones
it's taking me a while coming to terms with its abundant features!

I want TB! to forward mails that have been already filtered to my
personal mail folder (My Mail) on my home desktop PC to GMAIL so I can
reasd them on my phone. But when I add a rule to forward that mail to
my GMAIL address i get ALL mail coming to my chriswilson.tv account
forwarded to GMAIL. I tried moving the filter to the bottom of the
list but no change in that behaviour occurred.

The rules that work for TB! are

sender contains chriswilson.tv
OR
recipient contains chriswilson.tv

Action

Move messages to My Mail folder

All other messages generally and reliably get filtered to relevant
folders, they being mainly mailing list messages.

Can I force TB! to only forward mails that end up in My Mail folder on
to my GMAIL account?

Thanks I am running an older version of TB! as generally speaking I am
comfortable with it by now ;) I think the correct description for
people like myself is a Luddite!

Yes. My suggestion is to copy them one at a time to Notepad.

Then, when you have them all in notepad use the Replace function to
change all instances of @yahoogroups.com (without quotes) to
@stage.yahoogroups.com or @*yahoogroups.com (without quotes).

Then copy the whole of the notepad text back into your sorting office.
(You may like to take the precaution of a backup first!)

You will probably have to visit the Share with... tab of each filter

Ah yes, of course, I see now! Thanks for that. I was away for two days
and came back to find a load of unfiltered mails in my Inbox, which
would normally have filtered to the correct Yahoo groups folders. the
odd thing is these changed To: header lines have ceased arriving, and
none of these are in my Inbox today. I wonder if it was a temporary
glitch at Yahoo?

Thanks again for your help.

Filtering question

2014-08-22 Thread Chris Wilson

22 August 2014

I have a lot of subscriptions using e-mail to various Yahoo Groups. It
seems they have changed the To: address to add a stage into it, an
example :

softroc...@yahoogroups.com to

softroc...@stage.yahoogroups.com

My filter is To: contains softroc...@yahoogroups.com

and it's stopped working. Why is this if I am using Contains as a
filter, it still contains part of the old address? Do I need to
manually change each and every yahoogroups filter?

Thanks, I am using TB! 5.8.10 under Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit.

Because 'softroc...@stage.yahoogroups.com' does NOT contain
'softroc...@yahoogroups.com'. If the new address was
'softroc...@yahoogroups.com.stage' your filters would still work.

Do I need to manually change each and every yahoogroups filter?

Filtering question

2005-01-27 Thread Jeanny House
Friends,

I had a filter set up so that all email from my secretary to me (to
JUST me, no CC's or groups) was filtered to a separate folder. All of
a sudden it just quit working.

I tried to recreate it with her name as the sender and mine as the
recipient and nothing else, but now ALL messages from her to me go in
there, regardless of who else is in the address.

How do I make it so that just messages from her to me are filtered
into her folder? I assume that I can do the reverse on outgoing mail
so that messages from me to her go into her folder, as well. I had it
set up that way, then POOF!, it stopped working.

TIA,
Jeanny

I worked on this one earlier tonight because I thought the scenario that
Jeanny asked would be helpful. No luck so far. I copied and pasted the
filter here that Bill suggested. The only thing I did was use the find

something wrong from Bill's suggestion, or there is another issue here.

However Jeanny has another problem:

She is using v2 versus Beta 3.0.2.10 for Bill which uses the NFS which

Does V3.01 which is the current release per

I believe the answer is yes because:

You'll be rewarded with a dialog that shows how your

Slight problem. I can't use the 'Test filters' feature because the main
window has to be in focus which means the filter has to be in the
account of the folder selected which is not the case for me.

Now I don't really have a Pop email account for TB lists. My registrar
forwards my email to another valid Pop account. I then use 'Incoming'
filters in the other account to put the email into a 'dummy' account in
TB. I then use my ISP's outbound SMTP server to send. You might say this
is TB filter system doing one of its finest functions. :-)

If you had that filter in OFS when you upgraded to v3.0 it should have
been automatically converted to something like:

  Header match Reply-to:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

And it should work, but I haven't tried it.

I try to get away from Regex as much as I can (also did with OFS). So,
what I would really do (and have done for some other filters) in which
you want to use the 'Reply-To' header field is is changing the filter
to:

Header field Reply-To contains [EMAIL PROTECTED]

This last form I know it works.

Glad to hear that :)

BTW, if you ever need to filter on a Header field that is not available
in the fields list (i.e. custom headers), go into Options - Preferences
 - Messages - Message headers and add it in there. It will then be
available in your drop down list of Header fields.

Yes, NFS (New Filter System) is much better than OFS (Old Filter System)

Filtering question

2003-06-09 Thread Jeanny House
I want to set up a filter so that all messages between my secretary
and me go into a separate folder. However, the ONLY messages I want
in there are messages that have no other recipients -- no CC, no BCC
to anyone. We are both often copied on memos, minutes, etc from
various committees, and I want all that to stay in my regular inbox.

How do I set up a filter for incoming mail that says, if the sender
is Michelle and the only recipient is Jeanny, filter to this folder
and a corresponding one for outgoing mail that says if the sender is
Jeanny and the only recipient is Michelle, filter to this folder.

My brain isn't finding the logic for how to do this, so I rely on you
all, my gurus!

Create an incoming mail filter. Pick the folder you want the mail to
be moved to. Since you need two conditions on the filtering strings,
click Add. In the first field, type Jeanny's string. In the second,
type Michelle's string and change location to Recipient. Finally,
give your new rule a name and move the rule high enough it your list
of incoming filters.

Do something very similar for your Outgoing filter.

Right. But if an email is addressed to Jeanny, Susie, Bob, Mary, and

Ah, I didn't read carefully enough :-( Off the top of my head,
change the option to Regex and change those two lines as appropriate

Then add these two lines with Add (all ANDs):

You can't do that. Not for incoming messages at least, since you as
recipient have no clue whatsoever whether anybody gets the message
BCC'd. That's the essence of a BCC.
However, unless your secretary is spying on you on behalf of someone
else, it's a safe assumption to make that she won't BCC any message
addressed to you to any third parties. ;-)

The problem whether you are the only recipient of a message can be
solved in two ways: with regexp or without regexp. Since I prefer the
latter, this is the way to go:
Create two AB-groups, one named 'Jeanny' and the other 'Michelle'
Add all of Michelle's AB-entries to the group Michelle.
Create for all of your addresses AB-entries (you can add all of your
addresses to one entry if you prefer) and add those entries to the
  group 'Jeanny'

Create an incoming filter that checks for Michelle's address as
sender, at the advanced tab check 'Address(es) must be listed in
Address Book', select as choice 'All recipients' and select that they
must occur in the group 'Jeanny'. Since you're the only one listed in
that group, the only messages that trigger the filter will be those
that Michelle sends to you. Even when she CC's a message to your
private address because of the urgency of the message.

Do the same for an outgoing filter. Only let it check for you as
sender. (That seems obvious in your outbox, but what about messages
that you redirect to Michelle?) And check whether all recipients are
listed in the AB group 'Michelle'
Contrary to the incoming filter, this outgoing filter will catch
BCC's.

TBUDL List Message Sorting / Filtering Question

2002-01-03 Thread Jim Riccardi, Jr.

Hi, All!! OK... can someone tell me an easy way to manually or thru a
filter, move all TBUDL messages to a folder? The other lists I
subscribe to have something in the SUBJECT field like [listname] so
when I sort my messages by subject, all the messages from each of the
lists are together. With them, I can ALT-click on the TO field and
grab them all move them. I can't do that with TB list messages,
because even the TO field has many different values - the actual value
of [EMAIL PROTECTED] is in and does not work when I use it
in View / Display / Advanced Filtering / Header / The Recipient's
Name, nor is there an option to use the REPLY-TO field for advancd
filtering. I vaguely remember asking earlier this year about
having the SUBJECT field modification done here and being told that it wasn't going to
change.
So now, I want to move all the list messages to a specific folder, but
I don't want an automatic filter to execute - I want to run it
manually - but have not been successful yet. Moving them manually is
getting too tiresome. Any help is really appreciated. Thanx!

In the Incoming filter rules, I create a rule like this...

Strings: Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Location: Kludges

Presence: Yes

And just direct all messages to the desired folder.

NA with your messages by way of your filtering? Perhaps if we knew that, we
NA could be of more help.

I think I understood what -Bob wanted to ask and I think I've a similar
problem :-(

Following scenario:
I've created a filter 'From Me' that should filter for messages sent by
myself and than continue processing other filters. That's why it's the first
one. The filter does not move any message, it just apply a color group the
matched messages and mark them read. They should not be moved or something
else.
The filter works fine right now when messages come in. They become colored,
marked read, other filters are processed.
The other filters do move several mail from several mailing lists to the
corresponding folders.
Before I had created the 'From Me' filter messages from myself were moved to
the mailing list folders without being signed special like now.
I wanted to apply the 'From Me' filter manually to the folders to mark
messages from me after they already resist in the right folder and what
happens? Of course they become moved to my Inbox.
The only work around was to modify the 'From Me' filter and change the
destination folder the the folder I wanted to filter on. As I wanted to filter
6 folders I had to change the filter rule 7 times; 6 times to change the right
destination folder, 1 time to change it back to 'Inbox'.
That's (not very, but it is) annoying :-(
I have _no- chance to tell the filter:
'Source Folder equals Destination Folder, because there are other actions
_EXCEPT_ moving done with the message'

It's not I expect this feature in next Beta-release, but it would be nice if
we could use it before v2 comes out as nobody knows _when_ v2 will be
available :-)

Filtering question

2001-08-01 Thread junk

Fellow Batsters,
Occasionally I run manual filters on messages in various folders, and
I was wondering if there's a way to set up TB! so that the messages
being filtered are not moved out of their folder and into another? It
seems wasteful to have to clone the same filter for each individual
folder, and it would also be a real chore to have to re-adjust the
filter each time so that messages are moved to their residing folder
so they won't get placed into other ones. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the help in advance!

This is a known shortcoming of TB! which we hope will soon be dealt
with once and for all. If you run a single manual filter then you
could use the hotkey facility located in the 'options' of the filter
rule configuration panel; making sure that the option 'check the
selected message against this rule' is not enabled. This will allow
you to apply the filter at a keystroke to any amount of selected
messages in any folder.

actually created by your POP server. Don't worry about it; TB! won't
download it to you because the POP server won't send it to you because
the POP server knows what it is and needs it for itself. :)

Not all POP servers use this, but some recent ones that I've used (but

I believe that what it does is basically mark a "last read" location

that indicates where in the mail spool the server needs to pick up

Ooo, sounds interesting. How are you authenticating with SSH? I've
tried APOP assuming it's similar in concept, but it doesn't seem to
work on my end.

Re: A slight twist on the filtering question

2000-03-04 Thread Januk Aggarwal

Hello Tom,

On Saturday, March 04, 2000 at 14:38:17 GMT -0800 (which was 2:38 PM
where I live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] typed:

I've never really determined what that message is all about, but it's
actually created by your POP server. Don't worry about it; TB! won't
download it to you because the POP server won't send it to you because
the POP server knows what it is and needs it for itself. :)

That's interesting, the reason I initially sent the query was because
TB was downloading that file every time I checked my mail, but today
it seems to be ignoring it like you say.

I believe that what it does is basically mark a "last read" location
in the file; that is, if you're downloading mail but not deleting,
that indicates where in the mail spool the server needs to pick up
again. I would imagine it's because the POP writer didn't want to
depend on (or didn't know about) the way the flags work on messages.

I guess since I am deleting my messages from the server, this message
isn't being generated. So my next question is, if I check my mail from
a different computer, and I don't delete it from the server, will I
get this configuration message? If so, I should be able to just trash
it after deleting all messages from the server, right?

JA And while we're on the topic of my Unix server and TB, does anyone

Well, right now I use SSH through my telnet program and then I have
the SMTP and POP3 ports forwarded using SSH port forwarding. So my TB
uses the SMTP and POP3 ports on my local machine, and those have been
forwarded to the Unix server's ports. This means that I have to launch
my Telnet program and login, before TB is launched. If I could make
this more seamless, I would be very pleased.

Using a batch file, I can run the two programs simultaneously, so the
mail server isn't ready for TB to check mail. Or I can wait until
I exit the SSH program, which is pointless since it needs to be
running when TB checks the mail.

I have done this very thing, initiating SSH and then using port
forwarding for POP and SMTP traffic through a local port. I'm new
to this list so forgive redundance if it occurs... I now use SKIP,
a bit of a predecessor to IPSEC. All traffic between my Win98
box and my remote Unix system is encrypted. This includes mail as
well as http, ftp, etc. SKIP starts up on boot up in the Windows
environment and of course, you would set it up to run when your
Unix system boots as well in the way of a DAEMON or SERVER. It has
been a wonderful migration as I never have to worry about sniffing,
no matter what type of packets I am passing. Nowadays there is IPSEC
support for Win2000 (this is what I hear) and if your Unix end
supports it, you could be set. As an FYI, we are running FreeBSD on
the Unix side though we have gotten IPSEC to work with Linux as well
 with some small patches.

You can get SKIP from Trustworks: www.trustworks.com, both the
client and server. Unfortunately, I don't have too much info on
IPSEC in detail... this might be useful for you to get a real feel
for the strengths (and possible weaknesses) for your uses.

A slight twist on the filtering question

2000-03-03 Thread Januk Aggarwal

Hello all,

I just set up my Unix account to act as my POP3 server. For some
reason Unix creates an e-mail message, that isn't really a message,
that holds some necessary configuration information. Now for my
question. How can I set up The Bat to ignore that message? I want
TB to download all other mail and delete it from the server, but I
want that configuration file to stay on the server.

I think I can delete the file without any problems, but until I find
out for sure from an Unix guru, I think I'd rather leave it on the
server. If I can delete the file, no problem, then I'll just set up
a kill filter, nice and easy. But if I need that file, is there
anything I can do in TB or in Unix to fix this?

And while we're on the topic of my Unix server and TB, does anyone
know of a good way to have my SSH program launched when I launch TB?
My current solution is simply a batch file. Ideally I would love to
have a plug in or something that would make TB capable of connecting
to the mail server using SSH. This probably isn't practical, but I'll
wait for the more savvy to correct my errant ways. :)
