I think the latest version cisco ccnav2.1.3 but that may still be in beta
as far as cheaply everything is so expensive considering the authors sit and
type all day i mean they are like 50 bucks for a 600 page book

FWIW, I completed MCSE and CCNP without the benefit of classroom training.
It depends on how you learn best and how motivated you are.
For CCNP, I prepared for CCIE and took each of the tests as I felt
comfortable. The only time I failed (Switching) was when I jumped the gun

1) page 40 = RJ-45 connector pinouts --> it shows from 8-1, should've been
1-8. It's ok if it was done this way with a straight cable (although
unrecommended) but he showed the crossover cable pinouts in the non-reversed
order.
