Does iPeng/iNewNameGoesHere cope with having multiple locations each
with a different network setup and different music library?
I take my iPod from home to office and back every day. iPeng is handling
this fine.

networked DVD player (it is an ancient DP500). it plays VOB just fine,
which allows you to simply rip the DVD as is to your NAS. the VOB
file simply shows up in the file menu and i press play.

The .m4a extension is indeed the same for AAC and Apple Lossless files,
as both audio formats are wrapped in an MPEG-4 container. I, too,
have no idea what that means ;-)
What are you running iTunes / SC on; Mac or PC?
Either way, it's possible to use iTunes to manage two or more

Generally the PC speaker sound output has gone through a mixer which can
combine various sources (e.g. wave, CD , mic, line-in ) into one
output. Many of these sources are enabled by default so a lot of audio
processing (e.g. upsampling , mixing, downsampling, enhanced stereo)
will be performed
Everything in the Mixer is set to zero except for Front Speakers. For
some reason this is the output source.
I have checked it from a terminal with alsamixer.

OS you're running, the sound quality should not be affected (up to the

Played with album review over the weekend. Decided to check my
installation and found that when I extracted MHCPAN there was a problem
and not all of it ended up with my plugins. Did it over and now AR/Bio
work perfectly.

Ubuntu may be using a 'generic' soundcard driver that may not be
specifically written for your soundcard.
You don't say what soundcard you have ... perhaps the manufacturer's
web site may have a manufacturer written linux driver

Kmix usually has 3 tabs - output, input and switches. Look at input

But any how, now my amateurish calculations SBR has an output speced as
4.8Vpp
which is circa 1.7Vrms the Marantz wants 0.185Vrms (I assume rms ).
Via the calculator i found on the web i get this:

My library is 99% ALAC files. Only using the XLR outs of the

Streaming/File Types specs are as such:
Apple Lossless - FLAC - Disabled
Apple Lossless - MP3 - Disabled

I had a similar problem (with a library of 2200 albums or so) - Squidgy
got through the 'albums' scan, but it would crash back to the home
screen halfway through 'artists.' It finally occurred to me to reboot
my iPhone (hold down the top button and bottom button simultaneously
until the slider
Are those in separate directories? If yes, check out the option to group
multi disc albums together. Look for a thread that would describe a
proper tagging for that scenario.

require upnp in order to run. I am realizing now that my goal has
always been to get SC to run on my Terastation NAS as I am keen on

Guys, since I have upgraded Squeezecentre few weeks back my library
seems to be different and I am unsure why.
When browsing thorough artists via the SB it comes up with every artist
that I have in my library. This seems all very well but I sure that this
did not do this before and it seperated
Sorry, it just goes into standby mode. A push of the Transporter's
Power button wakes it up again. I have it set to go into standby
after 30 minutes of inactivity.
This problem only appears in the first 4 minutes of an album. If it
can get by that, which it usually does, then it will continue

configured. Change here might get you what you want.

if you type in the correct webaddress for the SC it does display but
for me, connecting wirelessly the skin seemed laggy and there were some
update issues. Also I didnt find a really nice skin.

Alas, after an upgrade to the latest SqueezeCenter (7.2.1 - 23630
ReadyNAS) and the Squeezebox V3(firmware 113), my files are not
recognized as 5.1 anymore; my receiver plays them in
