the arduous task of ripping over 2,000 CDs in high
quality (I settled on dbpoweramp, in case you wonder). And kept adding
a Slim devices box at a rate of 1 every 5 months or so, I have 4 SB3, 1
Duet and 2 Booms these days.
And my CDs spend never make it out of their cabinets anymore.

a huge fan of the
traditional SB3, but need to decide whether going forward I'll stick
with the SB3, or whether I will give the Duet another chance as I keep
adding units to different areas of the house.

desktop that is wired to the network, is all pretty common hardware, and
with an Intel Core Duo E8400 is weasel fast. And only consumes about 75W
under full load.

Not mine, though. Upgrade worked perfectly on Ubuntu 8.04, external
drive, over 2,000 albums in the SC database (well, SQL).

On a very different note - I have noticed a distinct improvement in
Duet reliability (fingers crossed), however the release notes make no
reference to any changes. Hmm. :-)

to just dump music onto them without needing a
conversion agent and anyone's permission.
I have no doubt that the SB3 is the closest thing to my needs - bridges
the gap between computerized and audiophile world the nearly perfect
way. I truly hope Logitech stays the course!!
