get the power to go up for nothing. Hopefully this one is just
being difficult and will be tuned in easier in a lab session. The buttons
are also a bit of a concern. However, the transmitter and receiver work for
the most part.

on the radio at one point and either direction beyond that the tone
and volume dropped off. I went counter clockwise, using headphones, until I
couldn't hear any tone and bounced between LSB and USB to make sure I
couldn't hear anything (low freq rumble) in either mode. Did I do this
correctly?

anyone that has done that on a 20 pin IC can relate -
quite tedious to pull the chip without lifting a pad or pulling a plated
thru hole!

I also found pins 29 and 30 (dot/dash) on U6 on the Control Board to have
higher than spec resistance, 96.7k and 96.5k respectively. They should be
70-90k.
Weird.

I got the K2 powered up. It showed the default message INFO 201 and ELECrAFt,
then 7100.00c. The display button won't switch anything and the VFO knob
doesnt change the frequency (page 44, left column).
Time for some trouble shooting.

work (the next step
is to push the display button to see what the voltage reading is, switch
back to VFO, and spin the VFO knob to observe the frequency change - neither
the display button or the VFO knob do anything).
