Gad! I haven't even tried building kde since about 2.x days. WAY too big. I
remember when the kernel took longer (or about the same amount of time) as it

Anybody know a way to make KDE recognize a DVD when I put it in the
drive (supermount works), and automatically launch Xine? I know I used

I have used K3B under both supermount, and no supermount. It has worked fine.
My only problems with K3B were when I was using different GUI burners:
X-CD-Roast and the like. The config programs all attempt to access the burner

I tried Arson and it failed with error 0 straight away, but the setup
did point at the site for cdrdao which listed the drivers, so at least
I know thw ARTEC drives seem to use "generic-mmc-raw"

It seems to do OK on KDE applications (kmail, for instance).

I had 8.2 running on my Sony laptop but I decided to upgrade to 9.1 (what a
hell, 8.2 works fine and why not 9.1? So I thought).
X server is taking forever to load. After 10 minutes I gave in and used
shutdown the x server. Lots of adding clients and destroying clients showed
up on
My computer will freeze, requiring a reset whenever I do ANYTHING
related to KDE root-type things. This includes logging into KDE as
root (which I really don't do any way), using the "File Manager -
Super User Mode", where it brings up a konqueror window as root,
editing stuff that is using the KD
Thanks to all who replied.
It seems logical that it would sit there forever trying to do a lookup on a
unknown lo interface.
My sons away for the weekend and don't know his root passwd so wont know the
outcome till sunday night.
I'm looking forward to the results before upgrading my box.
